I was sold on getting Squirtle as my Kanto starter this time because I preferred Blastoise's mega evo, but this new Charizard X has me sold on going for Charmander.

I am thinking some of the other megas will be version exclusives, like

X: Mega Mawile, Mega Ampharos

This Gen is a lot like Gen IV, it focuses on mechanics over new Pokemon and a large amount of the new Pokemon are related to old Pokemon, it is just that this time they are Mega Evolutions instead of normal evolutions.

Mega Stones are held items and version exclusive Mega Stones have X or Y in the name, so you can probably trade them to the other version.

Neither Water or Fairy types are going to be super effective on it!

Fire has Fairy resistance.
