It still seems like they've shown an unusual amount of pokemon. I don't remember them showing this much for B/W. I will give you the lack of precedent. Also I second Mega Bisharp.

I believe theyve shown a similar amount. Someone lined it up and they've revealled the exact same amount of new pokemon as B/W. The difference is they revealled them in corocoro instead of tweeting, FBing, and youtubing everything like they've done this gen.

I won't argue the rest, but come on, Charizard is the definitive final starter evo. Red and FireRed versions were more popular, Ash had a Charizard, Charizard was playable in Smash Bros., etc.

This is coming from someone who prefers Blastoise personally.

Yeah, I'll totally rescind that one. Charizard definitely wins as far as mainstream Pokemon goes. Haha. Anecdotally though, everyone I know told me they went with Squirtle or Bulbasaur the first time. It's wild!

Squirtle was my first Pokemon. Special mems!

Third Fire/Fighting and also bipedal. I personally like it, by far my favorite Gen V starter. I won't lie, I wish it was Fire/Dark instead of Fire/Fighting though.

Its not that great and its fire/fighting again! I personally don't get the hate for Serperior. Its a pretty good evolution and final form for the line.

Going forward, it might end up the only new Pokemon would be starters and legendaries, with some pre-evos and new evolutions popping up.

And really, that's fine to me. A whole generation of kids have no idea who Pokemon like Lickitung are, and this sort of future for Pokemon allows older designs to be refined and continue to be popular.

What? No, I personally believe that its now easier to "Catch them all" because of the internet since trading is way more easier now. Also, if you keep your old game, you can transfer them to the new one and we had this since GenIV. Just keeping your old saves can already guarantee you being able to get a few hundred Pokemon that cannot be obtained in the new one. Do people sell their old Pokemon games and never bother to at least transfer them to the new one?
