It's so stupid that you have to pick up EXP in Chain of Memories.

What's even more stupid is the awfully short time it takes for it to disappear if you don't pick it up. It just doesn't make any sense.

Material grinding in this game for all the synthesis items (especially Ultima weapon) is CRAZY. Seriously. Spent over two days on this stuff. Whyyyyyyy. It's not even an online game.

Play NieR then you'll change your tune about farming in this game.

I know holding something to a relative light can make it seem better, but really, it's still pretty crazy. I'm not sure who this kind of design in SPRPGs is really here for.

That said... I did want to try NieR one day :p

So do you guys recommend going into RE:CoM straight after finishing 1? Or will I get burnt out? I was thinking of playing Pikmin 3 or something else in between, but I dunno. The Kingdom Hearts passion is strong!

That's what I'm doing. Burn-out is possible, since we're basically going through the exact same worlds but in a different way (3 times when you count Reverse/Rebirth!). I also watched a few Chapters of 358/2 Days in keeping with the chronological order of events (basically everything up to Axel's departure for Castle Oblivion).

Oooh, I didn't think of that! Do you have a rough guide of exactly which cutscenes to watch and when?

Man I don't remember KH1 being this hard. I am level 54 and I'm struggling against Hades and took 3 times to get up to that rank.

I can probably cheat him by equipping all fire resist gear, but man, tough. Goofy and Donald die very quickly and I'm going through items way too quick with them.

Almost at the ultimate weapon I did almost everything besides gummy and I'm not doing it no way lol

For those who got the platinum my hats off to you

I just finished Kingdom Hearts for the first time. I had a lot of fun, but I'm probably going to wait a while before starting Re: Chain of Memories since the retail release of Wind Waker HD and Pokemon X/Y are right around the corner. I'll be sure to play it before 2.5's eventual release, though.

I can't see them announcing 2.5 yet. I hope they do though!
Why not? I'd expect them to and release is march-summer in japan. They got RR out recently and they will get LR, FFXHD and BDFFFTS soon enough. They gotta start having something in the q2-q3 from Japan lest they want to start showing some FFXV stuff ;).

Personally I have been expecting D23. Jump Festa would be the next after that but I doubt it and I really think it will be announced this year.

Then again who knows with SE.

Your last line says it all. TGS would have been perfect for it but they never did. So I'm not really expecting it at D23 either. If they do, awesome! Then again, it would be the perfect time to mention it if they say, had something else to announce too. I dunno, a KH Disney cartoon?

Just kicked Ice Titan's butt at level 93.

Choosing to do all these optional bosses on Proud is tough but so rewarding.

Sephiroth should be easy for you now, even on Proud. I was high 70's and all I did was just rush him down without a care in the world. Just make sure you have very high HP and Defense, MP Rage and always use Aero (I had Aerora at the time). Rushing him down means you get hit, of course but MP Rage gives you ample MP back. Only the odd time you might use an Elixir to stay safe but otherwise he was surprisingly straight forward.

As I chose the shield, I've only just got my first MP Rage at level 90, gonna max out to 100 to get the other one.

I have an LG plasma and I was getting some major image retention too. After an hour or more of regular tv though, it wasn't there any more. If it was, it wasn't noticeable while I was watching nor when when I turned it off afterwards. However, even after a short time of playing KH, the IR was definitely noticeable. Now that I'm doing Gummi missions though, it hasn't been bad.

Being a poor student I've consciously tried to forget every new game in the existence, and successfully did it with KH1.5 too.

Now I've re-remembered it and I think it's time to shave off 40 euros somewhere from my budget and get it some time next week!

e: 40e is over 10 beers at a bar though :(

Hook is such an annoying bastard :(

Hook isn't bad if you have any amount of MP Haste and/or MP Rage. He supplies you with ships that let you stay fully out of Hook's range while whaling on them to regenerate your MP so you can, in turn, keep your health up high.

Yes he's dangerous and hits quite hard, but if you take time to kill the Heartless pirate ships as they appear (instead of ignoring them and letting them constantly bomb you), he's really not hard at all.

Drop rates on the defender and wizards relic is stupid.

Tell me about it. You only get 'em when you're not trying to get 'em.

Dont't do that you silly man! Days before kh2 is bad enough.

Psxphile sthap!

I've had the displeasure of suffering through Days on the DS already. I'll do whatever I damn well please. :p Though I *do* agree, the games must be played and experienced first in release order, as intended. 358/2 Days must be played/seen/experienced after KH2, no question. But Square-Enix isn't giving us that option right at the mo, are they?

Oooh, I didn't think of that! Do you have a rough guide of exactly which cutscenes to watch and when?

Not really. You might be able to figure it out through this timeline (I shouldn't have to tell you you'll find spoilers for Days in that link). I just watched up to Axel's departure and then started Re:CoM. I won't go back to Days until I complete Reverse/Rebirth (or I get bored). Trying to watch Days and play KH1/Re:CoM concurrently is too much work. I suck at multi-tasking.

It's not like every KH2 PS2 disc has stopped working. If people want to play things out of chronological order, they can.

I'd argue that Re:CoM should absolutely be played before KH2 though, even though it came out afterward; and also, I'd argue that it's perfectly fine to watch 358/2 Days before KH2, because KH2's horrendously boring opening is made less confusing and vague by it. Only thing that really gets spoiled, IMO, is
the fact that the Ansem you see is actually Riku
.

I didn't even do that. I flew just outside the shipm waited for Hook to chase after me, and when he tried jumping back to the ship, I wailed on him. Rinse and repeat. Took a while, but it was pretty easy. Especially coming off of the previous fight.

I'm under the mindset that this game will bring much more and longer lasting fun than 10 beers.

You never know where those beers will lead you! Most likely just very exciting hangovers and such.

But you're right. I absolutely love the games which is why it's so hard to pay a fairly high price for 1.5. I can emulate KH1 and Re:CoM on my PC fine, HD resolution and all that.

Still, gotta show SE we still want more KH I guess.

I'm at the End of the World on my beginner playthrough. All I have left after this is my Proud run through, but I have absolutely no drive to finish this out...

This is why I did my proud run first. I knew it would be rough and I would need every ounce of my motivation to finish it out. So I started when my interest was greatest so I wouldn't just simply give up because I couldn't defeat a boss or something.

Do you guys have any good tips for CoM?

I have no idea what am I doing, I'm so pissed off because it is third plataform with that game and I just can't understand anything.

The Roxas part of the game, with the exception of the Dive to the Heart segment and the final day (where he has a kick-ass boss fight with Axel), is tremendously dull and full of terrible minigames.

Ah I thought you meant the opening CG scene :p

I started with my 100% run on normal. Seemed like the smart thing to do at the time lol Clearly not.

What exactly don't you understand?

Good tips? CP>HP most of the time when leveling up but of course there should be a balance.

When you gain CP don't just add cards and leave it at that. Remove old cards to free up some CP so you can put in good cards instead of shitty ones every level. One good and most basic way would be that after you level up change your lower value keyblade cards to higher value ones.

Remember to use enemy cards on every encounter. There is no reason not to and it makes your life much easier.

Always try to start a sleight with a premium (yellow value) card or a partner card since you can't reload them anyway.

When you do start a sleight with a normal card do so with a small value one.

I dunno what else to say. I'm not really an expert on CoM either.

Edit: as for when making rooms try to balance it so you have cards of every colour on hand and use the smallest possible value you have. Using 0 cards is perfectly fine if you are starting to get a lot of them since they are useless when you encounter a door with a total value you need to bring down so don't go over like 4 value with normal cards if you are starting to have a lot of 0 cards in hand.

ALWAYS SAVE ROULETTE ROOM CARDS for an emergency when you might need a very specific room card.
