Wii Fit U: Full eShop Trial Nov1-Jan31 (perm. activation with $20 Fit Meter purchase)

The deal is targeted to the 42 million Wii balance board owners, trying to attract them to the Wii U platform. It is a nice incentive, getting a free fitness game for buying a quite robust $20 pedometer. Of course, communication is key, so getting the word out effectively will be paramount. But to assume that each and every Mr. 30 Year Old Bob will have zero idea automatically assumes that there will be no advertising, shelf space, or word of mouth.

This delay was good planning, since it was originally due in summer. It is right in time for the winter months when active people will be looking for ways to exercise, as well as everyone's New Year's Resolutions to drop weight. Certainly, the fad has probably faded like Nintendogs or Brain Age, but it can still find it's audience and be a successful product.

On a different topic, they *should* try a calorie tracker for Wii Sports Club too and let the software communicate with each other. I wonder if they've considered that?

The *deal is only for current WiiU owners. So they basically need to get an avert out that tells people to buy a wiiu and basically get WiiFit U for free with a pedo purchase. All within 1 months time.

If Nintendo can pull that off, I will be impressed.

You need to read the thread title again. The promotion lasts three months.

Thread: Wii Fit U: Full eShop Trial Nov1-Jan31 (perm. activation with $20 Fit Meter purchase)

What does last a month is the actual trial version of the game from the time you first boot it up which could be anytime from Nov 1st to Jan 31st.

...hate me...
I just bought a cheap as hell Wii Fit Plus copy in anticipation. Can't wait to get home and try it out.

I was an early adopter of Wii Fit but somehow I just put it aside and never touched it again. The battery contacts on my Wii Balance Board even got rusty, I had to clean them to turn it on.

I forgot that it was fun. And Plus seems so much better.

And U seems even better... and with the pedometer thing. Man, I'm psyched. Which is probably very silly.

Two weeks from launch, there doesn't appear to be a price or listing for the Fit Meter in the UK. :( Any news on this?

Not to sound cheap, I'm kinda hoping that the price drops a bit in Amazon, otherwise I'll probably grab it from brick and mortar mainland stores, for a price that I'm thinking will be 25€.

Especially because they don't do day 1 delivery.

Got my fit-meter pre-order in. Have we got any detailed information on the routine set-up? I hope this time I can have more than one personalized routine.

What about the Fit Meter in the US? I found it on Amazon, but no color choices available...

From the OP

- Standalone Fit Meter (Black only) available from Nov 1

If that's true for the US, it seems the White/Green one MIGHT only be available bundled with the game. And I don't even see the White/Red one pictured anywhere on NoA's website http://wiifitu.nintendo.com/

We still haven't heard how often we'll have to sync our meters, have we? I'm hoping we can get away with at least a week between syncs...

Ok, I don't think it's already been posted, but here's 20 minutes of Wii Fit U gameplay. Sorry for the audio, which isn't synched at some points... and is totally missing in some parts (in that case, it's normal : there's no audio on the website where it was ripped from).

Here it is : YouTube.

Tennis mini game: Yes! I hope they'll have Highscores and challenges and all that. Would be an awesome feature for our Gaf gym. :)

November 29th until December 1st GameStop will be selling used Balance Boards for $14.99

So if you have a Wii U and don't have a Balance Board and still wanted to take advantage of the free Wii Fit U download, this seems like a pretty good way to get a balance board cheap.

and with that, purchasing the fit meter at 19$, you'd have the game for 35$ total, after the trial expires

Just checked and GameStop & NewEgg finally put up the Fit Meter for pre-order. It wasn't there a day or two ago.

GameStop:
http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u/accessories/wii-u-fit-meter/112311

Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16878190379

And Amazon finally added a picture to the Fit Meter pre-order page. And yep it's the black one.

don't know why NewEgg has a picture of both the green and the black one, if what's listed in the OP is true NewEgg probably just made a mistake and only the Black one is available Nov 1st in the US.

Can't really check those links at the moment. I can't get red on November first? Lame =/

Got me a used Wii Fit Plus, with the balance board and some accessories, for $50, so I'm definitely prepared for this bad boy. Hope the new Wii Fit U comes with a shitload of multiplayer games.

What is it with the US hating colours? The black Fit Meter is pretty cool, but having options is always great. I pre-ordered the green one. AmazonDE tells me it'll arrive on the 2nd.

I was going to go for the black. Matches my Wii U but I decided to go for the White and red Pokeball edition. I doubt I'll even use Wii Fit but my parents might.

I can't see the Meters being region locked. That would be hella weird.

This is Nintendo though. They're weird like that. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, its kinda harsh, but since i have to import (brasil, etc) and already pay $10 more for it and also pray for it to not stop on customs, then i guess ill have to play safe

(unless i had some confirmation a white EU meter could work with a US system)

^ I don't think any peripheral ever was region locked.

Just checked Amazon.de price... 20€?

I'm about to cancel my amazon uk preorder and just buy it from a brick and mortar store.

Shit. Didn't see this in time, and bought a used balance board on ebay for $33 the other day. Oh well. The listing provided super hi res pics and it looks extremely clean and almost new, which is probably better than the average used board obtainable from gamestop anyway. Meh. $53 for the whole package (instead of $90) is still fine with me.

£19.99 is cheap, no? You get the full game and the meter.
It is very cheap indeed, but I live in the mainland europe (where the price can possibly be 20€), so if I can just walk out of a store day 1 with the thing in my hands and save an extra 3/4€ in the process, even better.

Even at 25€ I might.

The only problem so far is finding a local store that will sell the thing.

Why did you pre-order it from the UK then?

Was wondering if I had enough room left on my 32GB Wii U for both this and Mario 3D World. I know Nintendo warned people with Basic Wii U's they'd need an external hard drive, so I was thinking Wii Fit U could be 8GB+

It doesn't look like it's listed on the US or UK websites (at least I can't find it) but according to the Japanese website

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/astj/campaign/index.html

it seems Wii Fit U is 3GB (I can't read a word of Japanese 3GB is what I'm assuming it is)

damn, I didn't realize the Basic 8GB Wii U doesn't even have enough space for a 3GB game.

GamePads are region locked, and back in a topic where this was discussed, I remember someone asking the exact same question as a joke, lol.

And from Japan website, there is Japanese showing on the Fit Meter.

It will probably be region-locked due to language support...

Most of the times I get the best prices from there.

For now I'm holding onto my pre-order though. Local Fnac still hasn't listed a standalone FitMeter on their website, only FitMeter + Game and FitMeter + Game + WBB. Sketchy.

What does that 19.99 bundle include? I see the Fit Meter in the box but what about the game? Does it come with a code?
