thuway? i'll wait for more confirmation.

i have no problem with x1 games being 720p (or very little i should say), but they should at least look purdy if thats the case. if cod:g is 720p its just incompetence. that said, i'd still likely buy that over bf4.

Thuway ain't the source"s" Ivy

Call of Duty has always looked terrible and run at hilariously low resolutions. You really think the casual crowd will give an ounce of fuck, let alone even notice, that their game is running at 720p?

Holy shit, he's the biggest XB1 fanboy ever..

No way he really leaves. Dude is a monster Xbox fanboy :p

It's denial ONLY because this goes against everything we've been fed the last few months. We we're told that Call of Duty: Ghost would run 1080p on Xbox One, and would run at 60 frames. We were suppose to believe all the footage we've seen regarding Call of Duty: Ghost was on Xbox One. The debut trailer was footage on the Xbox One.

I wonder how the hell they messed this up. Obviously, they new the specs to the Xbox One, hell at the time of promising 1080p, they hadn't even received the 6% upclock (lol). This either isn't true, or development is going terribly.

They showed footage on Xbox One? I thought it was only PC and PS4 up until now?

Would be pretty amazing if true. We all know the PS4 is more powerful, but a 1080p/720p gap on CoD of all games? Some serious port bungling at play.

CoD suddenly matters.

Whatever impact this makes, I don't think it'll be much, considering this game is going to be on darn near all platforms.

Remember when Cerny explained why ESRAM was a bad idea and Sony elected to go with a approach that would be better for developers.

Smart man
Cerny right now:

Proelite's posts are more scary than this awful game running at an awful resolution.
Both can ultimately be fixed through updates and improved development, but yeah OS issues are going to be harder to resolve, potentially longer lasting, and can't really be avoided, unless you count "buying a PS4 for sticking with another system" as "avoiding" anyway.

Many people on this board have been predicting Xbox One games to look worse and run at a lower resolution for months now. My reaction to this news?

I think the casual might eventually go over to Battlefield. Seriously, game has always looked much better, and has a lot more features. I don't think that will happen with this release. But I do see Battlefield gaining a lot of ground, and possibly taking COD over.

I hear that Nintendo are busing WiiU owners into this thread so they can gloat while the getting's good.

Who knows if they'll ever get another chance?

1080p vs 720p? on a high profile, sure to move a ton of units game?

Yeah, that's going to cause a few disagreements between fanbases, right there folks.

Glorious, glorious disagreements.

Man if this is true which I believe it is this will catch word amongst the casuals.

I can't believe MS intentionally chose to build an underpowered console and even stated it was by design. MS you are so dumb. Lol

This is actually part of the "nightmare" of buying systems at launches. Guarantee PS4 will have its own issues with hardware AND software as well.

That's part of why I hate launches. And yet, here I am once again sucked in when I know I should just wait lol

That said, it's impossible to spin this as a positive for Xbox One in any way. It's disappointing that they can't maintain resolution parity between the two versions, and it doesn't look good for the console's capabilities.
I don't think it reflects the console's capabilities so much as it does the ease, or rather difficulty, of development.

Ghosts is running on a modified edit: Quake engine iirc and it doesn't look particularly impressive; but devs are stretched for launch. A more complex memory structure that when used well essentially only gets you parity in that one area does not make for an easy port I assume.

EDIT: Obligatory "IF TRUE"

COD games run at 600p and lower on ps360.

I actually did know that (a lot of games lat gen ran sub-720p). I just meant, with the HUGE jump in specs from 360 to xbox one, how is it that 720p is something that can barely be reached. Is it just because they didn't have enough time to properly port it to the new system?

Just to clarify: I'm getting a PS4, and don't even like COD. Just kind of shocked by all this is all.

Jesus man, you should have better standards. This is 2013 where all displays are TFT and 1920x1080 in resolution and basically any $200 GPU can run most games at that resolution @ 30 FPS smooth.

If the Xbox One seriously can't even do that, well...

Actually, there is a talking point out there that the wii U is a better deal because it has more 1080p games shown or announced then the ps4 or Xbox one. Cinema blend had a clickbait article about that, and it's showed up on Kotaku threads a few times.

Yes. They're see "PS4 version is better" and that's all they'll need to know to buy a PS4 instead of an Xbox One.

Sadly, the one-month exclusive DLC window will resonate more with the dudebros in the USA.

Not according to the "dudebros" I've talked to.

Can I ask the mods why we don't just ban these types? At worst he is a chronic fanboy (possibly even shill) trying to downplay a critical (rumoured) issue. At best he is uninformed, ignorant and has an incorrect opinion on resolution. "I prefer 720p anyways" should be a bannable offense.

As for the topic - big news. I figured that the MS/COD partnership would be the biggest fan to the 'forced parity' fires... and now this. I don't know what to think anymore!

Jeez, don't ban the guy, he's probably joking.
