Megaton if true. CoD has to be one of the least hardware intensive engines out there today. The rumor that it took devs 4 months to get only 15FPS is troubling. Really wouldn't be surprised if this is the status quo for this generation.

Why not both?

Historically speaking, in any given console war the "most powerful" console has never come out on top. Due to the fact that they're usually more expensive and harder to develop for, and consumers prefer a strong software library and a lower price point over top of the line graphics.

Somehow, the Xbox one managed to produce the most expensive console without the benefit of superior hardware. The point being, Microsoft stopped trying to be the "top spec" console after the original Xbox because they knew that having the best raw hardware doesn't win console wars.

y'all should be ashamed
I get the feeling we'll see a new graphic from the Xbox twitter account tomorrow.

"GET THE FACTS: All games on XB1 are scaled up to 1080p!"

Translation pls.

"Todo parece apuntar a que CoD: Ghosts funciona a 720p en Xbox One y a 1080p en PS4. Si al final esto es cierto, AY AY AY."

"Everyone seems to be pointing to COD:DOG running @ 720p on XOne and 1080p on PS4. In the end/it seems to be completely true, AY AY AY/Fuck GAF."

This is insane if true. It's amazing that MS may have such an underpowered and/or hard to develop for system that costs more money. The design team really may have dropped the ball spec wise.

Crazy if true.

Surely discussed, but there can't be any way that Activision would put up with this? I mean, for PS4 at least, they'd actually make it superior?

We couldn't even get proper second-player log in on PS3...EVER. We always got fucked with signing in as guests. I mean, can we really expect such a difference?

Why not just go for parity? Is the pressure on from Battlefield?

Microsoft: "We purposefully did not target the highest end graphics"

But yet, they're crying about having the weaker console compared to PS4 & are doing everything that they can to try to sabotage PS4's advantages. ROFL.

It's their fault for building the console as an entertainment/media hub & Kinect 2.0 box & for putting better specs on the back burner for it. And now they're gonna pay the price for that absurd decision making in the long run when it comes to multiplatform games & exclusives in graphics/resolutions.

It's not a huge deal in terms of reflecting potential system performance because there's still a lot of unknown factors. Do we know how long IW have had dev kits? How experienced are IW archs and devs with ESRAM? Which was the lead platform? Did Sony give them lots of help? Did Microsoft not bother? I get the arguments on both sides, but there's a lot we don't know here so I'm reluctant to infer too much from this, if it's true.

This is, however, a huge deal for mind share at launch. Attach a widely marketable metric like resolution to a version of a game, and all the compute servers in the world won't hold a candle to it. We don't know which version will be "best", but we (probably) know which will be 1080p, and that's the ball game.

if this is true then i am going to cancel my xbox one pre order too to be honest. i will order couple of PS4 games with it more.

but i have to ask. why are we rushing this ? i mean, with respect to all insiders, shouldnt we wait for official confirmation ? or their word is enough and its just a time ticking for the announcement ?

Great question.
Crazybutts stated that the original X1 release was scheduled for early/mid 2014.
However, I'm afraid that Microsoft pulled the trigger on production several months ago. The financial hit that would occur from an immediate pause would be horrendous.

Im surprised difference is this big, besides the ram the performance of both should be around the same ball park.

This is actually part of the "nightmare" of buying systems at launches. Guarantee PS4 will have its own issues with hardware AND software as well.

That's part of why I hate launches. And yet, here I am once again sucked in when I know I should just wait lol
Yeah, I got sucked right back in with that Knack launch bundle (helps that's one of the two games I wanted at launch, and the higher priority one at that) but it's that suspicion that makes me consider waiting. Well, and the fact there's a veritable flood of games anyway and those new iPads hitting.

why do people act like this has anything to do with MS?

Weaker hardware and hardware that seems to be more difficult to develop for than the PS4? It's all their fault. Every single bit of it. They made the hardware choices and even admitted that they didn't target powerful hardware.
