If it's this bad now just wait until the generation really kicks into gear and devs start really trying to push these systems. I've said it before but it's going to be a really long generation for xbox fans and multiplatform games.

If the 720p rumor were false then someone would have chimed in and corrected gaf or at least tweeted about it.

The unwritten law is that if a rumor reaches 10 pages within the hour without having been addressed, the rumor is true.

The Driveclub thread is a prime example.

Not difficult to believe. eSRAM is difficult to use, Xbone's development tools are behind, and the console is bandwidth handicapped at 1080p. Not difficult to believe this will be the status quo going forward.

A vast majority of people won't give a shit if it turns out to be 720p.

The bigger concern is the future. When we start seeing ps4 games run at sub-720p what's the xbone version going to run at?

I think people would care. I agree that generally people don't understand the difference on a technical level. But big sounding numbers effect people. The average consumer knows what a 1080p TV is. In fact, they probably assumed there games were all 1080p when they actually weren't.

The bigger issue is, people just don't hear about this stuff. The average consumer probably won't hear about Ghosts being 720p vs 1080p on PS4. But I'm pretty sure if every single average consumer saw 720 vs 1080, they would think the bigger number = better, and also equate that number to their HDTV.

Of course it can but how much are you willing to sacrifice for that resolution? Current images and videos of Forza 5 don't show huge improvements over Forza 4 in terms of graphical features and its got crazy huge aliasing issues when I last checked. That was the point I was making. You can crank up the eyecandy with most $200 cards, like the HD7850/7870, and still get pretty decent performance at native 1080P resolution.

I don't really believe this news but at the same time it doesn't really surprise me. Upclock or not, the HD7790 is really a pathetic and basically outdated GPU to be shoving into a 2013 console that is designed to last at least 5 years. Throw in the 32mb of embedded memory and you've got even more problems.

I don't know what videos or pictures you have seen, but the game look much better over Forza 4 when I played it at Eurogamer. You might want to get those eyes checked.

Hardware decisions by Microsoft make it difficult for devs to get the performance up.
But Ghosts looks pitiful for a next gen title. We've seen other titles that look great on Xbone. The real conclusion should be that Activision is underfunding the development or something.

Do you honestly think XB1 can't run Ghosts in 1080p? Honestly? Like seriously??

SenjutsuSage - post if you are OK!

LOL @all the clowns in here saying they prefer 720p or that there is no difference between that and 1080p.

tee hee...couldn't help myself from posting this...

None of that is the point. The point is making gamers feel that 720p is "bad", the Xbox One is "weak" and "doomed".
That's the point. That's what NeoGAF is doing. You have people in that thread ECSTATIC at this news.
These people are NOT gamers. They're console politicians. As far as the Xbox One is concerned, NeoGAF is Fox News.

Apparently, it can't.

Are people really considering canceling their pre-order because of the resolution of one game? And Call of Duty no less...
Yes. Am I buying a weak ass system compared to the competition or not? I need answers sooner than later. At 100" you better believe I can tell the difference in resolution.

Eventually, maybe things didn't go fast enough for launch.

Call of Duty is a pretty low tier game, when it comes to graphics. It's always been about smooth framerate and if the resolution had to drop to get that, on the console where the DLC deals are, no less, then it's worrying but not just for CoD, for other games going forward.

Jesus Christ. And there still has been no confirmation of resolution for BF4 has there?

Wow, missed all this. Of all the cross ten launch games, CoD is the one I would’ve though least likely to require a resolution drop to run at 60fps.

I know it’s not confirmed but if we start seeing resolution differences this large at launch, it really does not bode eel for MS’s choices with the Xbone.

IF this is true, it would by default have a little to do with Microsoft. Likely the cause of this discrepancy would be the added complexity of the system hardware and the different memory set up, which causes games which have to hit short deadlines make sacrifices where on other platforms they wouldn't have to worry about it.

Again, IF it's true. Which, I don't know. I just think there's enough smoke now to discuss this,.
Yeah this not being CBOAT and the game looking too ugly to be 720p has me skeptical. I can't deny the possibility though.
