Guys, all this simplifying and nobody links to Burning North who set off this whole thing? Go hunt that set and look at some really well done simplified shots.

That said, turn this into a different thread by all means. I can see you're having fun. For those that think the price is a bit steep, you can try it out for free, but you won't be able to save the edited shot.

Sethos, that green hallway shot: the simplified shot was good, but the original: fantastic.

Awesome pictures Midhras, well done. RED Engine is great for this kind of screenshots, considering the amount of overall details.

Another sunny day of FC3.

Kudos to him for sure! Also, that first shot is completely amazing.

Also thank you - It's from a bygone age.

Thanks. I was immensely proud of the original (find it here if you want to compare). The Witcher 2 is a fantastic looking game, and this particular stitched shot turned out quite nice. What fantastic assets!

I cant wait for TW3 :p it will be a new frontier for GDR games.

can you play games with the topaz filter on?

No, u cant. Its a PhotoShop's Filter that can be added on a screenshots.

Great shots Brerlapping and rashbeep. I also like most of the Topaz shots. Looks pretty interesting indeed.

Hopping aboard the Topaz train too; I'm really liking the plugin, the results are amazing!

Wait! Doesn't Darksiders II already have Topaz enabled by default?
It's a pity that the amount of computation that goes on makes it unlikely that a shader could be written that came close to doing what it does at any rate sufficient to play a game with.

Nah it doesn't. Its art style is what makes it looks Topaz-ish.
I liked your Valkyrie Profile shots Lime, would love to see some more.

There's some great potential for wallpapers with this plugin.

Last ones from me.

How long can we continue this before it becomes too much to bear for the thread and other users? Please let me know, because there are some really great stuff I've seen so far and thus I want more.

Haha, this topaz fun reminds me of when 2.35:1 first came around on the thread :p. I'd suggest messing around with doing multiple layers of the image in photoshop, and erasing on specific areas, so that you can really tweak the areas of more/less detail. Like here I have a high size effect on everything, and then erased that for a lower size effect on the tires and road. Looks GTA-arty to me :p

Liking the shots. What preset are you using? I'm toggling across the BuzSims I to V and pick whichever looks best with the picture.

I think having these is fine as long as it's done in moderation.

That looks absolutely incredible.
However could we reach a conclusion for this sort of thing - Yay for this thread, nay for this thread or should we look into an art thread?
I think if it did get a separate thread that'd be fine, but it totally seems like a fad and that thread will probably be dead in like a month or two.

I think if we kept it in here, it'll make this thread more active, and it'll pass in time when people get tired of it.

Also, I got burned by being the last picture post of the last page so I'm shoving this on this page too because I really like how it turned out =p

RAGE with Topaz. Sorry, I'll stop. However could we reach a conclusion for this sort of thing - Yay for this thread, nay for this thread or should we look into an art thread?
Some are interesting, some are pretty good. That being said, I for one would vote nay in this thread and yay on another one.
If those are allowed in here, there wouldn't be any reason to not allow any other heavy photoshop editing and it could ruin the thread.

Can I post a new thread for these shots? I love them, I really do, and I plan to make some of my own, but this is the High-Res Screenshot thread, and these aren't really screenshots anymore. It's one thing to use different downsampling algorithms, but putting filters on images in this thread doesn't sit right with me.

Like I said, I'd like to make a dedicated thread for Topaz/Modified screenshots if there's enough demand.

I had no idea people would be liking it so much.

It's probably worth noting that the effect is a LOT better if you apply it to high res originals and then downsample if needed. The more details it has to work with, the better, even if you're just going to smudge them out.

Burning north even suggested upsampling and using the filter if necessary, then downsampling again.

When will I be able to start playing videogames with the Topaz filter on? :(

It takes photoshop a short while to process a single image with this filter. I don't see there being an optimal way to code a shader to do the same so that we can use it in real time.

Also, few more:

You'd be surprised how fast it would work with less precision.
