Forbes Contributor: Reviewers Reporting Frame Rate Problems With 'CoD: Ghosts' On PS4

He seems very unbiased. I'm sure he's going to write an article when the X1 version has fps drops as well.

Well now we know why there's an extended embargo on the XB1 version.

What an unoptimized P.O.S.

Glad I'm not one of the hordes of fans that have been brainwashed into paying $60 for the same game year after year.

This makes it sound like it's hitching while searching for trophies or saving or something.

If that is the only place it seems to drop than I am not seeing the issue here. Tons of games hitch a little bit while saving/streaming in new area data even on Pc.

I remember when Black Ops 1 Ground War on PS3 ran at sub 20 fps...if I can deal with that, I can deal a few drops here and there.

Joystiq: ”A key pillar of the
Call of Duty experience has always been rock-solid 60 frames per seconds gameplay. On Xbox 360, Ghosts maintains this mandate. The PlayStation 4 version, however, has noticeable technical issues, sometimes slowing to a crawl, particularly during set-piece moments with multiple effects. One specific moment I was able to replicate multiple times on PS4 was a campaign scene that ran smoothly on Xbox 360 and PS3, while the game chugged On PlayStation 4. These frame rate hitches happen throughout the campaign on PS4 and, in a series known for its Hollywood-inspired bombast, it detracted from the experience.”

Forbes contributor piece, immediately disregard his opinion as the equivalent of random forum posters. Go to sources he quotes. Determine validity based on the sources.

That being said, Gerstmann form GB commented on some framerate issues with the ps4 version. I doubt they're anything catastrophic, and probably just a hiccup here or there. The notion that four or so sites have mentioned it does give me pause, though.

Wasn't there a rumors prior to E3 that PS4 ran a much higher FPS? 90 or something while X1 ran only 15 FPS? Who reported that rumor?

CoD: Ghosts platform tier list:

S tier: N/A

A tier: N/A

B tier: PC
Horribly optimised. Requires 4x the amount of RAM it actually uses.

B- tier: PS4
1080p but with framerate issues.

C tier: Xbox One
720p. May or may not have framerate issues.

D tier: Xbox 360
Sub-shitty resolution but stable 60 fps framerate

F tier: PS3
Sub-shitty resolution with framerate drops

Nobody wins. Not a well made game. Not at all.

Wow, that really sucks. There is no excuse.

We'll see, BF4 still runs better on PS4 despite the higher res but at 720p I expect this game to deliver solid 60fps, I mean, come on son.
If it runs poorly on PS4 they shouldn't have gone with 1080p.

I don't think the game runs bad, I think it has times where it hiccups out of nowhere, watch the TotalBiscuit video, it lags for no apparent reason. Rushed game indeed.

Bbbbut 1080p is Next gen right? Right guys

A few occasional frame rate drops are hardly concerning. Especially when we're talking about a 60fps game. This is likely being blown out of proportion, which is why Infinity Ward decided to keep the game at 1080p instead of dropping it.

In any case, it's all about Killzone Shadow Fall anyway.

This seems contrary to everything Ruben has said about prioritising frame rate over spectacle.

That makes it seem a little bit dubious.

ahah.

This probably means nothing other than Infinity Ward being an awful developer.

When 720pGate happened it was "all this means is xbox one is horrible console."

Now rumors of PS4 performance issues. "all this means is that infinity ward is horrible developer"

edit-
me I dgaf about either game. Looks like a shitty game.

Why on earth is the xb1 under embargo? I've seen this on EG and mentioned here... SVD no one seems to ask why. Might it be it's running terrible?

Hmmm. Giant Bomb said the same thing.

It looks nice, but it's a sharper, better-lit and textured version of the game, nothing more. Additionally, the PlayStation 4 version has a handful of noticeable dips in its frame rate. This usually seemed to happen when a lot of smoke or other effects were on-screen, but occasionally it occurred in multiplayer for reasons I couldn't even guess at. Judging graphics on a brand-new platform can be tough, since we don't have a lot to compare it with at this point, but I will say that I had hoped that it would look a little better across the board. Whether that says more about my expectations or the quality of the game will have to wait until we see more next-generation games in action.

But I was informed that stuff like resolution or framerate 'doesn't matter'.

Microsofts review embargo working perfectly ;)

That Cal Robinson guy says the Ps4 version is better though. So I'm going to say the xone version has the same issues. This guy even mentions the framerate drops in the Ps4 version and still says it the best COD experience on consoles. He's the only one to come out and talk about the game and I trust him and Jackfrags over any media outlet seeing as how they are so into the games and have such a following they were flown out to review the games themselves. Their loyalty lies to the game and not to the platforms.

so WiiU is best(most stable) console version? barring if XO has issues. I wonder how the population is on it though?

So Polygon says that both the PS3/4 have frame rate issues with the PS4 being worse.

Joystiq says PS4 slows to a crawl but both the 360/PS3 have steady 60fps..

Then if you actually watch youtube gameplay of the 360 version its 1. Horrible visually and 2. Suffers frame drops.

Seems like journo FUD to me.

Add to this i'm pretty sure there isn't a COD on current gen that has managed a solid 60fps without any drops yet. Which makes it seem even more like nonsense.

This also shows that while they're willing to downplay the resolution stuff they are being super open about the sudden PS4 issues..

I really don't think i can trust journalists anymore.

EDGE:review "While the PS4 version runs at a native 1080p, that precious framerate drops briefly before checkpoints, which are at least placed so that the odd stutter never affects gunplay."

so it doesn't affect gameplay, and its only in SP?

still not buying this crap >_>

Lol really, really reaching there aren't you?

You forgot his articles on:

Oh but he posts one bit of negative news you question a bit, so you decide to pull up his history (which is rather fair and balanced for both sides), and try to point out him for being biased it seems? If you aren't trying to do this, my apologizes, but that's what I read your post as. A passive aggressive questions of where he stands for both systems.

EDIT: You guys are agreeing with him on this? Some users here are already discrediting the man and his article and asking "to close the thread" because someone posted a completely one-sided listing of some of the positive Xbox One articles he's made? He's made just as many positive PS4 articles, he's trying to be a news reporter, a journalist. He's reporting stories for both sides, he's doing a good attempt at this. There is no bias and there is no reason to discredit him. Come on, some of you guys need to lighten up.

well he seems to have an agenda

Funny because the person you quoted was cherry picking the articles this guy wrote.

Here's another one by the same writer: The 5 Best Reasons For Buying The PS4 Instead Of An Xbox One

*Edit* As for my opinion, I think this is about par for the course of a launch title. Sucks for those who got their hopes up thinking it would be rock solid 60fps @ 1080p.

I'm sure next year's CoD will be improved on both PS4/XO as dev tools will get better and as they start optimizing their engine for the next-gen systems more.

Thank you. Tired of people finding bias by being biased themselves
