Naming a character after the dullest, most generic, pointless dude in MW2 (Riley) and having everyone wear his stupid mask is an homage. Copy/ pasting animations is not.
Very appropriate since Call of Duty is to games what Michael Bay is to movies.
Everyone reuses content, code, effects.
It's good development practice. It should be actively encouraged
Don't reinvent the wheel for the sake of reinventing the wheel.
Where does all of that CoD money go?
Christ, GAF goes FULL retard when it comes to COD.
EVERYONE reuses assets. Why? Because it saves TIME that could be spent elsewhere.
DICE did it with BF4, Bungie probably still has some assets from Reach in Destiny however minor or major they may be, ND's Uncharted engine is fully compatible with the PS4 and wasn't really "upgraded" in the traditional sense.
This isn't being "lazy", it's called using common sense and not just trying to please a vocal minority who would bash the franchise as the "same" unless they turned it into something unrecognizable.
Where does all of that CoD money go?
Clearly, they're trying to make a statement about war, how it never changes... so deep!
People are really getting mad at this?
I bet Gears of War 1-4 all have cutscenes in them where Marcus pulls up his arm to his ear to hear the incoming call, fucking lazy Epic.
I also think God of War had multiple scenes where they showed Kratos with the same mimic in a cutscene, pffff.
Yes, reusing a single animation is the same thing as reusing an entire cutscene.
You are a credit to all CoD fanboys.
I think he asked a fair question. Activision definitelly have the money to make a different animation and camera angle in that scene, and if people want to call it lazy developement, that is fair enough for me, but i still think its a fair question and i'm curious to hear the answer to how the game would be differently if they made another animation and camera angle for that 18 second scene early on in the game. Are you serious?
I can't believe we have defenders for this shit but yeah there is a defence force for everything so why am i surprised...

If they think this is the same thing as Marcus holding his hand up to his ear in Gears of War 3... then yes, that sounds like a brain dead fanbot to me.Fuck off with that shit.
I'm so sick of the stigma that someone who enjoys cod is essentially a brain dead fanbot that will willingly support and buy everything cod.

It's not wrong to enjoy it, but call a spade a spade.
Fuck off with that shit.

Well, it was more than the "animation" being reused, the camera angles and cuts were also reused (essentially that particular NIS).Yes, reusing a single animation is the same thing as reusing an entire cutscene.
Yeah, comparing a reused cutscene with a reused minor animation is totally not a brain dead fanbot-esque statement.
Gimme a goddamn break.
That's not an homage. An homage would be if there was like, a news report about an airport massacre or pair if snow mobiles hidden in a level.

Not any reasonable person, but I see no reason to be overly defensive of Infinity Ward's lazy cutscene direction. And the worst thing is that people really think this is a bad game because of this.
Well excuse me for getting a little irritated when you want to generalize all call of duty fans for a stupid statement one fucking person said.
Not any reasonable person, but I see no reason to be overly defensive of Infinity Ward's lazy cutscene direction.
I don't mind the reuse of animations or camera settings / cinematography and I couldn't care less for IW or CoD.Not any reasonable person, but I see no reason to be overly defensive of Infinity Ward's lazy cutscene direction.
Except he's far from the only person saying less than intelligent things about the reused cutscene.
There are people in this thread that think it's an intentional homage.
Well, I love CoD, and I do care. I expect and demand better out of one of my absolute favorite franchises.I don't mind the reuse of animations or camera settings / cinematography and I couldn't care less for IW or CoD.
And Demon Ice is so fucking mad, maybe because he is more intelligent than many other persons in this thread
I see it as a fan service. I also see how some people could think it's IW being lazy (but of course it's the first thing people on GAF will think of because it's Call of Duty)
Just out of curiousity, how would you be fooled into spending money on COD: Ghosts?Nah, I'd say xJavonta was the one that got mad. I'd probably be angry if I got fooled into spending money on Ghosts though.
Then the problem lies with yearly series getting stale. EA saw fit to let DICE invest some time into a new engine and it has paid off on Battlefield 3/4. That engine is fantastic and completely ready for next-gen.I think the new engine thing is just some kind of tech point of pride for enthusiasts. No one is going to take three years to write a new engine for a yearly series.

Fooled? People enjoy the game. I don't like the multiplayer, but every Single Player campaign of mainline CoD since CoD1 gave me 5-10 very very fun hours.Nah, I'd say xJavonta was the one that got mad. I'd probably be angry if I got fooled into spending money on Ghosts though.
Ghosts' engine feels left behind and put together with duct-tape.
For me it would depend on what type of tech issues and corner cutting we're talking about. If its corner cutting that really affects the gameplay experience, then it would kinda suck for me indeed. If its an 18 second reused animation and camera angle in a 5-7 hours single player campaign, for me personally, i cant think of any reason why this would actually matter to my overall experience with the game. I do play the CoD single player campaigns, but i buy those games mostly for the multiplayer What other tech issues and corner cutting were done in CoD: Ghosts? Honest question, i havnt followed the game that much, and i havnt tried it yet either. All that talk of a Next-Gen CoD with amazing new tech with a great new story and great multiplayer and yadda yadda and the final product is riddled with tech issues and cut corners while looking like a current gen game wouldn't make you feel like you got a little taken advantage of?
