Polygon's marathon Xbox One live stream

Here is a quick recap of Polygon's 12 hour PS4 stream:

I hope Polygon is just as tough on the X1 as they were on Sony's products.

Nope, I bet their Xbox One Live Stream will be like a freaking episode of Price is Right. Everyone will be jumping around, going crazy, chest bumping, screaming, hugging. I bet we will also hear something to the affect of how futuristic it is.

Those psychopath encounters are never easy in any of the Dead Rising games.

But damn. I feel for them- getting acquainted with the controls seems like it will take time.

At least they seem like they're having some fun!

Seems like a lot of the problems with voice control in these reviews is that they don't know the actual commands the Xbox is listening for. After I small learning curve I don't think it will be quite so bad to navigate with.

Do they even bother learning the commands are first before streaming? It's clearly not perfect but they're not doing themselves any favors by just shouting different variations of the same command.

This always seems to be an issue with polygon, they consider them selfs hilarious and think people actually enjoy watching them; but all we want to see is how the system/games look.

Seemed to be an issue with the ps4 broadcast as well.

Shouting at your TV in a slow unnaturally awkward manner so the shitty voice recognition can pick up what you're saying and use it as a gameplay mechanic.

No one asked for this. I haven't seen a worse idea in a long time.

NEXT GEN!

The loading time in dead rising 3 are completely unacceptable. Are they running directly from the disc or the hard drive? what are other games loading times like on xbox one?

Hyperbole 101 here.

It cost me $50AUS for my rechargeable batteries and charger I use with my 360 controllers, plus I've had to replace the batteries four or so times since launch at $10 a pop (if they're on sale).

It cost me $60 for a second controller for my PS3.

Besides that keeping both the PS3 controllers charged means I've never had to pause a game to swap out controllers while I'm playing. I just rotate them every session and they're always charged. With the 360's pad I have to change the batteries every 20 hours sometimes mid game. Does it bother me? Nope. It's not a big deal. I prefer internal batteries but using AA's isn't a deal breaker, it's just annoying.

Plus like I said earlier, having two controllers increases the life span of both controllers. But I also have a wife and friends who I like to play MP and co-op with. So that's another plus.

I agree with Owens. I also own a 360 and a PS3. I'd rather have rechargeables ($50, what??) waiting for an instant swap out and charge them back up on down time in bulk. Pop out, pop in. Never have to tether to anything during play or resync a different controller as Player 1. Takes 5 seconds. Plus if both your controllers are being used in MP on a PS3, once they die you can't switch to any other controller. With the AA's just pop more in.

I completely agree with the bolded. It doesn't bother me either and it's not a deal breaker, but for people to pretend that rechargeable batters aren't just as good as a dedicated battery in a controller is crazy. Both options are valid. Both options have advantages and disadvantages. Why is it so crazy for someone to prefer one over the other?

Oh, and you need to buy better rechargeable batteries. Eneloop. Trust me. You get a charger and 4 batteries for $18. How the hell did you spend $50 on batteries and a charger?

Word, I have about 15 Eneloops. Awesome batteries.

I'm sure they're just putting on a show, but I hope this isn't how they review games.

what do you think? These are the guys that had someone who publicly hates killzone review the new one any bash it without even playing multiplayer. And couldn't figure out how to follow a marker on the screen.

or gave sim city a dynamic score after saying it was amazing. Then defending ea through all that bs.

What does that tell us though? Still seems the experience is inconsistent from people to people. It could be the acoustics in the room. It could be the tone of their voice. Plenty of factors.

Has anyone checked the other videos where they are having trouble with it, and confirmed they are just saying the commands wrong?

The tech isn't good enough imo. You shouldn't have to worry about acoustics, your voice, the size of the room, other nearby voices. If they're staking so much into Kinect, and really want it to be as ubiquitous a device as they claim it can be, it needs to just fucking work. Like 95 % of the time or better. Talk about beta testing, this shit is garbage and has like 2 good use cases, dance games and...I'm sure something else.

Well from what I noticed, people who have it working correctly make a short pause before and after the keyword "xbox". Also they know the right commands.
But I'm only assuming, will need to try it first hand. :)

It tells how to works
Xbox, snap,not xboxsnap

So why isn't it working for the people who are streaming? Is it spotty or are they doing something wrong?

Saying wrong commands most of the time is the major problem. It seems like you have to pause for a short beat after saying "Xbox" as well. I wonder if all the talking while streaming affects things as well. I can't wait to see for myself how it works.

Wait so you'd rather pre charge another set of batteries to stop the game, open up the controller, remove the old batteries (put them ina charger presumably) and put in the new batteries? You know what's easier? Just plug in your PS3 controller after you're done maybe every third session, it takes less time than fumbling around for batteries. You're never going to run into a situation where both controllers die at the same time that way. If you run into a problem you described with the PS3 you can just charge the controller, if the 360 controller dies you have to go to the store and pick up new batteries.

This is madness, AA batteries are absolutely not more convenient. This is also presuming that you only have 1 USB cable in this day and age, and the act of tethering is far less time consuming than swapping and managing batteries.

the funny (or not so funny ) thing is that you are paying $100 more for something that might not even work in your playing environment.

It loads the entire map, the game has no load times outside of booting up and dieing/restarting.

My solution to charging the DS4. Inexpensive at $25 and efficient.
