Why I love Pete:

Because he loads your team up with PEDs?

Oh please no. Some Lions fans are floating the theory that Gunther Cunningham was kept on the staff because he's the top candidate for the HC position.

Some Lions fans.... who didn't watch the press conference obviously. Still under contract, Next head coach has say over coordinators.

I wouldn't mind Gunther, but I'm not pulling for him, either. At least he has fire to him.

I have to go with ol' reliable, even though I'm not exactly thrilled about O'Brien/Bridgewater... there doesn't seem to be much better out there, so I'll go with it.

Playoff predictions:

WC round

IND over KC
SD over CIN
PHI over NO
SF over GB

Divisonal round

SEA over SF - A SF win wouldn't surprise me but much like NO/CAR home field is everything in this series so I lean SEA.

CAR over PHI - If the Dallas pass rush can get to Foles then the Panthers certainly can. Carolina offense is going to have to get going here.

NE over IND - IND has been quietly good, but I actually give them a better shot of going into Denver and winning than going into NE and winning. Would change my picks accordingly if CIN wins.

DEN over SD - Revenge game, and I don't think SD has been quite consistent enough to pull this off.

Conference championships

CAR over SEA - I flipped a coin. Seriously. No result surprises me here.

NE over DEN - 60% confident here. I think the 24-0 comeback is going to linger.

Super Bowl

CAR over NE - Back and forth game. Almost another coin flip, but I think top to bottom the Panthers are just a bit better than the Patriots. Carolina's defense helps win the field position battle, and there is no Vinatieri (or Kasay!) this time. 24-21 style final. Adjust to 17-13 if the weather is bad. Skip Bayless and Colin Cowherd act like they were Cam supporters from day 1. People are genuinely confused by the fact that Ron Rivera has coached a Super Bowl winner.

I would also take SEA over NE.

I really don't understand Ravens fans (or anyone) who hate on Flacco or the decision to sign him long term. I understand lamenting the size of the contract, but what choice did they have? Flacco knew the Ravens were rebuilding and would have gladly walked. I mean, what the fuck were they going to do? Let him go and draft Geno Smith? Tyrod Taylor baby! You can make fun of him all you want but he put up the best numbers in NFL playoff history. He probably has more post-season wins than Peyton Manning at this point. You know that with some playmakers around him and a decent defense, you have a chance to win a super bowl. You don't just say fuck it and go back to the drawing board when you have that. The Ravens made the only possible decision, the right one.

#Texans are not planning on interviewing #Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt, per source, now that his team in the playoffs. O’Brien’s job to win.

Fuck you Wisenhunt!! dances nekkid!

Peyton and Flacco both have 9 wins in the playoffs.

Think Gruden goes to Minnesota.

Hopefully you mean Jay Gruden.
Don't think I want John. Laughing at his sideline antics only lasts so long...

I'm just waiting for the glorious news telling me that piece of shit, index-card holding fuck Bill Musgrave is gone.
Ziggy will probably get shitfaced and hire him as the HC with a 5-year contract. :(

I don't see the 49ers beating Seattle in Seattle the way they are playing right now.

I'm saying this for like the 5th week in a row now but - THEIR RUNNING GAME IS CRAP WHEN THEY ARE IN A HEAVY FORMATION OR THE OPPONENT STACKS THE BOX. They couldn't run at all against a good run defense (Cardinals) and were merely average against the worst run defense (Atlanta). It is stupid pride that must lead them to think they can just enforce their will and run the ball. Gore and Hunter run well if the opposition is spread out, not if they are geared up for the run. The media is constantly getting this wrong by saying they need to just run more. Idiots.

The o-line also needs to protect better. Kaep is constantly running for his life and has maybe 1 second before the pocket collapses. That is unacceptable...hold the damn pocket for a couple seconds please.

Defense was pretty bad again. No pass rush, leaky secondary...unless they fix it and quickly Rodgers is going to pick it apart. Hell, any offense should be salivating at the opportunity just drop back and chuck it at this point. Where did the pass rush go? It seems like if one of the line-backers isn't blitzing they aren't putting any pressure on at all.

So...meh...starting to hear the local media whispering that maybe, just maybe, the running game isn't that good if you are going up against a stacked box with a heavy set formation. DUH. People get paid to analyze this and still haven't figured it out.

I dont know why but I was looking at Bob McNair networth and man he skimpy on political donatioins. Maybe because I assume all rich people throw money hand over fist to lobby what they want. Thats neat he gave Baylor Medicine 100 million though

You are mostly right until the last part. The Ravens made the only possible decision, but it wasn't the right one. The right one, the smart one, is to say, we do not want to commit top money to a mid level QB. But they had no choice; after performing like he did in the playoffs and winning the Superbowl, they couldn't let him walk. It was still the wrong decision. I just feel they thought he was better than he was. Even in the offseason, I floated the idea that maybe Joe had "tipped" in the playoffs, and that was much of what we were going to see going forward, and he could possibly justify his contract. Joe repayed us with his worst performance of his career. Our line was bad this year, as was our running game, but I've watched all the games, and Joe looked worse. He looked like someone trying to justify his contract, and that led to a career high in INTs and a career low in completion percentage and QB rating.

But yes, the foundation is there for the Ravens to succeed, and I still believe our defense this year is better than last year, minus the superhuman (insert deer antler joke) abilities bestowed on them by Ray Lewis' last ride magic. We were weak on offense in terms of talent all year, but I'm going to say Torrey Smith and Marlon Brown are probably a better 1-2 than Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton were.

I still think it was the wrong decision to sign him long term, even if it was the only possible situation. People said he held the Ravens hostage, and he really did.

I'm bored so I'll make some picks.

Vegas Odds on the Super Bowl.

Surprised the Eagles have better odds than Indianapolis, KC and New Orleans.

These are way better odds than last year. Ravens as the 4 seed last year were somehow only 9/1 odds.

Are we sure about that, though?

Flacco is maybe still king.

People are quick to judge Andy, myself included. HOWEVER, there are some things to consider about those 4 interceptions.

The first two happened on the first two drives. He recovered well.

The third was a receiver error.

The Fourth was a shitty playcall, but he put the ball exactly where it was supposed to go. Just a beastly play by the talented Baltimore Corner. It happens: The QB and Receiver do everything right, and the defense just does something exceptional. The offense just got greedy, trying to pad stats.

In fact, they did a study on Dalton's interceptions, and they found a good number of them were due to AJ Green mistakes. It was posted on Bengals Reddit, I'll try to find it.

He's not the best in the AFCN, but he can win. He's never not made the playoffs in Cincy, so I have faith.
