Final Fantasy X -Will- and FFX-2.5 plot discussion thread [Up2: Uh, um, errr, see OP]

What is going on in this thread? Someone cook a synopsis up please.

"Yuna, I had a vision of my own death. I'm...... going to kick a blitzball, but it isn't actually a blitzball, it's a bomb. I'll be decapitated Yuna, and this vision really scares me, you know?"

"Are you fucking serious?"

"What?! No no no I'm messing with ya Yunie! you gotta lighten up, you can't beat Sin with a frown on your face!"

"Oh! Thank Yevon you were joking!"

Read it in their voices, and the idea of Yuna swearing like this made me choke on my coffee.

There's no way this stuff is real or accurately translated, right? I mean, yeah SE has had some pretty messed up/weird stories recently, but this sounds way too unbelievably stupid to be true...

Seriously guys, this is some sort of hoax, right?

Sadly, this all makes a lot of sense if any of you remember the perfect ending of X-2. Not the good ending, the 100% perfect ending. It's really somber and drops a lot of hits about Tidus and Yuna's future relationship.

LOL.

This is a glorious trainwreck. I think I found some scans of the novel pages. Tidus' uh...unfortunate fate 2 days after being revived by Yuna?

The reviewer's weren't kidding about the gore. Tidus sees a ball roughly the size of a blitz ball, and comes to the conclusion that that's what it exactly is. So he proceeds to run and kick it... explodes. It was a bomb. Yuna gets thrown back by the explosion.... along with Tidus' head which promptly lands by Yuna with his expression frozen with surprise. She promptly passes out.

Yuna resurrects him using pyreflies, however it seems that if Tidus realizes what he is, he'll disappear (whether that means off to the Farplane, or from existence I'm not sure). It seems overall this explaination wasn't explained too well so it could be off the mark. This could explain though why she's seeming cold towards him in the audio drama.

I kinda want X-3 now just to see how far Square will go in their insanity.

A lot of the Japanese readers seem more upset that it was such an opposite tone to what the perfect ending in X-2 was, and the aformentioned gore and sexuality present.

This is a goddamn parody.

There is no way this is real.

Care to refresh my memory?

Tidus explains to Yuna that he was recreated by the Fayths and so he's still is a dream, implying that he might disappear someday. However, he says everything will be alright if they take care of each other. Yuna hugs him and asks if that's what the Fayth told him. He responds saying that he came up with that idea himself. Yuna then pushes Tidus into the water. Tidus reiterates that they have to take care of each other. Yuna tells him that he won't disappear. Camera fades to black.

This summary doesn't do it justice, the scene itself is just sad and you can tell something is wrong. I recommend you watch the video on youtube to get a real understanding of it.

Now as a fan, in the wise words of Lulu, "I can only speculate."

My take on it is that Yuna is clearly suffering from depression with the fact that Tidus may just disappear on her at anytime without warning. Her feelings are clearly conflicted, she just can't be happy.

My direct theory: Yuna is upset because she knows the dead are returning to Spira. Yuna is conflicted because she loves Tidus, but knows that eventually the evil will be brought back to Spira as well, most likely Sin will return. Sin has taken the form of numerous summoner's guardians. In theory, all someone would have to do is not necessarily wish back Sin, but wish back a previous guardian and in theory their last living form was sin.

Remember in the audio drama Yuna is praying to the fayth everyday. A. She is depressed and is focused on praying to the fayth that they keep Tidus alive everyday. B. She is talking to the fayth and understands that sin will soon be coming back.

I like him too. :p

I do think it's hilarious that's how
he dies. It's just so fucking stupid you have to laugh

Even worse is the sexual stuff.
He apparently can't fight because he finds Yuna too sexy.

Oh, Nojima.

WAT

Here is what they wrote:

There's a lot of comments about how much they feel bad for Tidus, and that Yuna acts really cold towards him. There's a few saying they hate Yuna in the novel. There's apparently a lot of sexual stuff in it. There's a scan of one page in which Tidus tells Yuna if they get into battle he might lose his fighting spirit because he's distracted by how sexy she is. And apparently Tidus gets his head blown off by a bomb and dies (and only 2 days after getting resurrected), but he comes back to life again because he's made of Pyreflies, and Yuna has control over him.

Sounds interesting to me these are the kind of hard hitting issues that FF has always been afraid to tackle.

This is a bold new direction and one I am glad they took.I for one applaud the story telling here.

Oh you!

TBH I'll take a ridiculous more dark plot over what we got until now from XIII.

not from Square Enix you shouldn't

I've trusted them enough with X and X-2. I know their recent streak is anything from great... But as a true fan of X and X-2, the direction they are going makes a lot of sense.

People looking from the outside probably just don't understand it. They make jokes about the situations in this audio drama and novel... (I too find them funny and a bit painful.) But It makes sense from the story's point of view.

I urge you to watch the perfect ending of x-2. They clearly wanted to do an X-3 a long time ago. Shit just isn't finished too many questions left unanswered, still a sad ominous tone from a game over 10 years ago. The perfect ending isn't happy. It's somber, it's foreshadowing to an uneasy understanding of what Tidus is.

Man, that just reminds me of how much I love the X-2 soundtrack. There is a lot of uncertainty for sure. They don't know why he came back or how long it will last.....can't they just be happy?

This. People make fun of the audio drama and the Novel because they don't remember these things. Reading this stuff without replaying the two games make it seem stupid. However, there are so many unanswered questions. The real ending for X and X-2 are just both really depressing.

Doesn't make it not stupid.

Not that there's anything wrong with that,it's hilarious.

It may be a bit overdone. (I'm sure there is a lot lost in translation too.) But having your head pop off is a clear reminder that someone isn't real. If I was Yuna I would be sad and shut off too.

Also note that Tidus hasn't aged and Yuna has. A lot of people are missing this.

You completely went over my point though.

The tone is still completely different to the novel. As I said before, it explains methods of how Tidus is probably still alive. However, we've gone from a touching talk at the end of X-2 which very much matched the tone of the first game, into a novel where we've got flirty comments leading to Tidus' head being blown off by a bomb.

Yeah, your reasoning at the end could bring something itneresting.

Sadly, SE is going to make the game/other media, so...

I need to see that 'this is NeoGaf' gif, but with 'this is Final Fantasy' instead. There's no way on gods green earth that the madness will not be all over FF14 too. Holy crap this is insane.

As bittersweet X and X-2 games are, it isn't really comparable with this.

It's two days later, but I'm having a lot of fun imagining that it's right after X-2's Perfect ending.

"You didn't disappear."

"Hahah, I guess you're right. Ok let's go home.....oooh Blitzball!" BOOM, splat.

You bring up some valid points.

However, as a fan of the series, I understand that Tidus wearing Jecht's banana isn't just for fun. Jecht was a notorious womanizer, and most children grow up as a reflection of their father. (A child beaten by his parents usually grows up to beat his own children.)

Yes, this may seem childish to us adult readers. "Really he's turning into his dad even though he hated him in FFX" However, this is very realistic in terms of statistics about children growing up in today's world reflecting their parent's actions, even if they are bad.

Again the bomb its meant to be almost too much. A wake up call to Yuna that, "Oh my god, he really isn't real."

Meh, I'm also a fan of X, but they really should have left the game as is.

I agree to a certain extent. I believe they should have left it at X ending, no matter how sad it was -- it was perfect. However, X-2 left so many questions with the ending that I always wanted answered.

All in all, even if X-3 sucks the experience of X will never leave me.
