well, to be honest. regardless if the game is canceled or not. i think nintendo should pull the plug on the WIIU by the end of this year. i mean, i think its much better option if they release a console with PS4.5 in terms of specs. if they want to have a chance as this system is going to win anything

aside from 3 or 4 games nintendo are making and probably won't sell due to the low installed base on the WIIU, there is nothing left for the system.

its kinda sad because i do kinda like the WII U. and it has like 3 games i already want to play. but i will not buy the system at this price. WII U to me is like PS3 and Xbox 360.

to me those systems are worth about 180$ to 200$ max. WIIU isn't different.

i hope its not canned for the WIIU only owners though.

Which also makes much more sense. Same goes for the metric system.

As a European immigrant to the US since the late 90s, I find the date system is actually much better starting with the month. I can take a quick look at a date and know immediately from the first set of digits which period of the year it applies to, that's more important than which day of a month. Also doesn't UK set months first.

Now back on topic, I think this whole rumor is a big load of B.S.
I had a gamestop employee tell me, after it was already available mind you, that COD Ghost was not going to be released on Wii U. I didn't write a blog about it.
I'm baffled how so many people seem to bask and rejoice in a destructive attitude towards anything Wii U in general.

It wasn't cancelled.

The italian store cancelled the preorders because the release date was changed.
The mess is sorted out now.

Not that I'm saying that this isn't what happened -- after all, I obviously have no idea about what's going on -- but why would changing a release date result in cancelling preorders?

Ubisoft not willing to comment on the matter is a really bad sign.
There's really no reason not to confirm that the game is still in development...unless it's not the case anymore.

I see this Gamestop.it still lists the collectors editions of Watch Dogs for Wii U.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but all collector editions of Watch Dogs for Wii U were cancelled a long time ago in my country. Only the normal edition (and "special edition", which retails for the same price as the normal) would be released. Additionally, we were told this would affect the Benelux only. Perhaps Ubisoft now decided to pull the plug on the collectors edition in all regions, and Gamestop.it accidently removed the wrong version?

Apologies if this is already known/debunked, I don't have time to read through the entire topic.

edit: Starting to doubt myself, I see many stores still list the Vigilante edition, even in my country... I'm pretty sure it was cancelled, but now I'm thinking it was un-cancelled again later. Either way something weird was going on with the Wii U version of Watchdogs.

That would piss me off a lot. I bought this console for Zelda and if they move Zelda to the next console then I will never buy anything from Nintendo again.

I don't see it happening.

HOWEVER, if Zelda is not at E3, then you can start becoming enraged.

I fully expect them to see out all their games in development to the end, even if it results in them taking losses.

It could have possibly been re-skued, resulting in the cancellation of whatever sku number that existed in their POS system.

I'd be extremely surprised (and pleased) if any version made it out in February. I'm expecting a May or June release though.

I agree, but I actually like that the rest of the world uses a logical progression from smallest to largest... so, to reconcile these otherwise contradictory things I like, I tend to do year/month/day, personally - largest to smallest.

I don't know... it can be something as simple as a employee's mistake about how to handle the preorders on a computer or something...

what really gets my attention is that when the preorders were cancelled... EVERY major videogame news site wrote an article about it based on assumptions, with no clarification of Ubisoft people.

and now that the preorders are restored, nobody will make a story about it.

gotta keep those clickbaits up.

Ah Ubisoft could have put a end to this they did not, that's the problem.

No, only the US write them the wrong way. Do you really process a written date in sections when you read it?

dd/mm/yyyy is the logical and correct way to write it. The only other alternative is yyyy/mm/dd. And that's that.

No comment seems like a really bad sign.

And the ride continues. Just another month.

Wait, in the pyramids, why is the month section larger than the day section?

Guessing it's because days are shorter.

Still, as dumb as many US systems are, I will defend month/day/year until the day I day. Potentially 1-12/1-31/0-???? just is much easier, and getting reference of a month immediately is more important info.

Garmz juranlismz at its finest. We've come to a point where writing a new story from a lone tweet is not only common place, but also more or less accepted by people.

The only thing I could imagine would be because of a pending announcement either from uni or nintendo
Just what kind of pending announcement from either Nintendo or Ubisoft could prevent Ubi from confirming that the game hasn't been cancelled? Whilst the game returning to the Gamestop site is good news for those looking forward to the Wii U version, don't be too sure just yet as you're setting yourself up for disappointment if it has indeed been cancelled.

I agree with that, I guess the PR department is slow and can't make the proper phone calls.

But still, I think it's unfair to make a major hustle with one assumption based on an arbitrary situation and ignore completely when it gets fixed.

it was ONE retailer, and it was less than a day.

Everyone wouldn't have put those articles IF ubisoft was communicating "something"

The best answer we've got is "no comment"

I really hope it's not cancelled. Although I'm sure I'll enjoy the "next-gen" version, I wanted to give the Wii U one a try if it uses the Gamepad in a cool way.

Said pending announcement could just as we'll be that it is cancelled. All publicly traded corporations have to be extremely careful with any comment they make as it can affect stock prices. No comment is standard operating procedure until there is an announcement.

I am fine either way. If it comes it comes if not no biggie, it's jus a video game I will find another to play.

I mean that's the thing I have been saying I almost every post I put in this thread I don't expect it to come out period. I kind of like the attitude of I'll believe it when it is in my hands. Thats why I find all the wild speculation I this thread so entertaining

It won't happen. If anything the current situation will lead to Nintendo themselves releasing more games on the Wii U..not less.

Anyone who thinks Nintendo is going to dump the Wii U to release games on something more powerful is kidding themselves.

that's also a common journalistic lingo for "we send a mail to the source, but he didn't answer during the 5 minutes it took me to write the story".

I've never heard of this happening before. Why wouldn't they just notify consumers about the delay then? Why cancel preorders all of the sudden?

Hah. You joke, but I bet this thread actually does have more views than Watch_Dogs would/will sell on Wii U. (~69k at this moment)

Yep.

I laugh at those that are like "IF TRUE, IT'S ALL OVER".

I don't know what "over" means to them but this changes nothing.

They can say it's over anyway whatever that means but this isn't some gamechanger.

However, even though I probably wouldn't even get this game, I hope it's not true because some want this version.

So I take it all is well for now? All I know is I cancelled my PS4 bundle pre order when Watch Dogs got delayed. There was no other game I wanted that bad. At this point I dont plan on getting any multi platform game on anything other than a PS4. Would like to see how it uses the game pad tho.

I don't think this signals that Ubi is dropping all support for the Wii U... but it does make sense that their most ambitious game to date would be hard to justify on a console that wouldn't move more than 25k units.

You'll still see Ubi games on the Wii U, just smaller scope ones.

You'll see Just Dance for sure and maybe smaller downloadable titles hitting almost all other platforms. Their major franchises like Assassin's Creed, Watch_Dogs and all the games in the Tom Clancy universe will skip Wii U.

Maybe a potential Rayman sequel? Who knows. But the big budget titles from Ubi just aren't viable on the Wii U right now.

And it would be fine if Ubi did this. If this were to happen...I dont see how ppl can be upset with Nintendo, the Wii brand being considered family friendly.

Whats wild is some of the biggest grossing movies are family friendly. As a studio you can be seen as family friendly and still make lots of money. It just doesnt work out that way for Nintendo.

I do wanna see how Ubi responds with future games if Watch Dogs also sells poorly on the Wii U.

I've never heard of this happening before. Why wouldn't they just notify consumers about the delay then? Why cancel preorders all of the sudden?

I havent either....and the only thing I can think of is the version changing. Even in that case, I dont think pre orders would get cancelled.

yeah, I read the article, son... and I worked in business journalism for a while.

you can see that there are two "sources" of Ubisoft... one properly identified with name and position, even with a proper quote, with the specific event and date when it happeed...

and the other is a vague quote from a nameless "Ubisoft spokeperson".

I'm not saying that that's EXACTLY what happened, but I'm just saying it's bad journalism and there are reasons to be skeptical about the story.

I think it's quite obvious that Nintendo have killed a great deal of people's families and raped their dogs. I'm surprised they haven't been criminally charged before now lol

Great to hear that the game appears to not have been canned. I'm expecting the GamePad use to make the Wii U SKU the definitive version. Can't wait!

Even if it isn't cancelled, it's not going make any difference to the fate of the wiiu. Nintendo need to get to work on a new console, fast. Make it backward compatible with wiiu and similarly specced with the next gen consoles.

No way in hell Nintendo pulls the WiiU this year. That's customer confidence suicide. As stupid as Nintendo can be at times, I seriously doubt they are that stupid.

I still think Watch_Dogs WiiU is a thing, but it could go either way.

Would this situation be considered similar to the whole Call of Duty thing, where no one would actually comment as to whether the game was really coming. Sure there's a slight difference, being that Watch Dogs U was already announced, while Ghosts U was still unknown but still.

Guessing it's because days are shorter.
Ahh that explains it.

Can't tell if serious or American?
This however, does not. See, I was thinking the smaller set of numbers would have the smaller section, like this....

Potentially 1-12/1-31/0-????

12 months vs 28-31 days vs XXXX years, rather than the one with the shortest length of time.
