Thanks Wario.

Wow. This is just editing the config and running it in windowed mode. Fits to the desktop on its own. Holy shit.

Flips between annihilating my vram and running at about 20fps :/

What's the best thing to use for resizing images? I went with paint.net now because I have it on my computer and the results looks pretty good to me.

Developers should hire the people from this thread, because the shots here are often way better than the official ones, and when it comes to cross-platform titles the official shots are often from consoles, or taken on the PC at reduced settings to simulate the console experience.

Exactly what I'm talkin' about, and it looks like an actual gameplay scenario, rather than a pornographic close up.

As for apps, Xyber, the free app of choice is Faststone Image Viewer: http://www.faststone.org/

Select your shot, hit Ctrl+R, and use Lanczos 2 (Sharper) or Bicubic (the results tend to differ slightly).

Failing that, grab Photoshop. Adobe released a legacy version for free, I believe.

Anyone else noticed DS is supported in-game in MoH:WF?

Getting awful compatibility though, can't set it to anything other than x1.5 otherwise i get a memory crash. Further to that, i've had this RAM crash in a few games yet i have 8GB system RAM and a Titan * scratches head*.

Darkness II has built in FXAA so if it goes against the rules I'll remove it.
Using FXAA isnt against the rules so it can stay.
but it is considered one of the worst AA implementation because of it hiding jaggies with a bloom/blur field around the edges.

If you can force aa through nvidia inspector/radeonpro then definitely use it over FXaa.

Oh I know, but when I say built in I mean the game has no option to remove it. It is active at all times, with no actual AA option. Is weird!

The bit in the OP that made me worry.
So no compression, no lossy formats of any kind or 'blurry' AA-methods ( e.g FXAA ). It's all about making the game look as beautiful as it gets before your pc crashes. As mentioned earlier, performance is a non-issue.

Games that force things like FXAA I loathe with a hatred as deep as Earth's core. Sleepy Dogs shits me no end with that as well. I hate that developers have gotten so lazy that they find it easier to implement a post-processing AA filter rather than a "proper" one. Ugh.

What's weird is that Sleeping Dogs actually does give you SSAA, which is brilliant when downsampling too. What I don't understand is why they keep FXAA when you turn SSAA all the way up. Nyarg!

Also, I'm pretty sad that Need For Speed Most Wanted got SSAA in one of the later patches, but said patch also broke the no-hud and Racer_S has seemingly disappeared off the map and doesn't want to fix it. So hard to screenshot games properly these days...

Perhaps they wanted to keep on anti-aliasing their transparencies? Also, FXAA doesn't have to be awful. If you check out the latest versions and put them in the hands of a skilled dev they can look as good as SMAA.

This is true, but I just hate that there's no option to get around it. For example, pCARS I don't think will let you force it outside of the game because it uses deferred rendering, but games that use a post-process to apply something without giving the option to not use it at all earn my ire.

That's an awesome screenshot! It's weird how some of the textures in this game are way too detailed for the resolution it was originally intended for (not that I'm complaining).

To be fair, there is also a texture pack at work there, but the game does still look really great even with vanilla textures.
Would you care to elaborate on what texture pack that is?

EDIT: nevermind. i got confused. i thought the comment was about the Dark Souls screen and there was a texture pack in use there. nevermind me :)

Ah, thanks for clarification Alo! Yes, it looks really nice - love the look of the game which is why I'm hyped for The Evil Within :)

As if Dark Souls would need a texture pack :D

No, that's pretty terrible. The gamma settings washes the whole thing out, the skybox banding is some of the worst I've ever seen, plus you're using FXAA.

Just being honest.

I think that's out of my control though, not sure why there is banding as i haven't injected anything - must be an engine limit @ 2160? Either that or something to do with drivers, pretty sure i seen Sethos mention something similar in MP3.
It's due to the resizing method. Lanczos2 is terrible when it comes to that, some other methods also make the banding really shine.
Ty. Suggestion for another method to use?

I find Photoshop's various bicubic filters to show the least banding.

I think if you turned off FXAA, brought the in-game Gamma slider down like 3 inches, and resized using Bicubic Sharper it would be a fine shot.

Sigh. The later patches have SSAA as a graphics option, but no screenshotting tools for those versions until Racer_S comes back from his hiatus...

So I'll try and pick the shots that don't have crazy noticeable aliasing even after downsampling from 4K

The details on some of the custom car models for GTA IV are fantastic. Probably the best looking cars I've seen outside of Project Cars. So next to Sethos' beautiful car models, these probably won't look nearly so impressive.

Eh, most of them are stolen from racing games. The GTA IV modding community have no shame.

Did you force 16x HQ AF in Inspector (if on NV hardware)? The pavement is making me sad, despite the overall awesomeness of the shot.

Aw yiss, finally un-banned. Been sitting on this screen for like a week. Probably going to be my last Dishonored screen.

Hopefully the spots where I photoshop'd bodies out aren't too obvious.
