24 reboot will be a 'total reset' with new characters, no Jack Bauer

*Bauer comes in at the last episode of new series and looks at the camera.

Bauer - "Kept you waiting huh?"

*Then the clock ticks the last seconds of the hour.

The show does need a reboot it became a absolutely stupidly convoluted and bloated show. The last season in London showed how a shorter season made a much better show no fat or unneeded diversions.

Heck they could reboot it with Jack Bauer just wipe all the previous seasons out.

More 24 is a good thing, but it needs jack, even if it was just in a couple episodes. I want to see him free and in America again.

If they went to him and he didn't want to do it but wished them to continue the tradition then they absolutely should. They can just soft reboot it and push it into the future by 5 years or so and have brand new presidents and people.

They are crazy if they don't just use Kate as the new main and go on from there. I think they'd have a lot harder time if they try to recreate Bauer with some young guy. Kate is setup to be a great character.

Tony? Tony. I'd watch a 24 with Tony. I'll give the reboot a couple episodes because I love 24 but it just isn't 24 without Jack.

A Jack Bauer less 24 only ends with the terrorists winning over and over, murdering and owning the shit out of every good and honest American man, woman, and child. That's the only way it can work.

I feel like 24 could massively benefit from a reboot done right. The show had kinda become a parody of itself in later seasons.
And it doesn't need Jack Bauer because the concept of 24 alone was what the show interesting enough for me to tune in and Jack (who is one of the most 1 dimensional bland characters) isn't the reason i kept watching. That person could of easily of changed to Ted and played by someone else in the 2nd season and i would of continued watching.

Hearing that it's going to be a complete reboot (same concept) with new characters interests me way, way more then that shitty mini season they did last year.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to a Kate/Tony kind of spin-off (and goddamn, it's perfectly set up for that already!). But if it's going to be a flat out reboot, don't even bother.

I thought that was the whole point of having Kate's character evolve last season from a "by the books" agent to someone who's willing to go rogue to get the job done. I figured they were grooming her as the new Bauer, even if it's impossible to replace him.

No one can throw people out of windows like Kiefer. I don't see a reason to watch 24 without Jack Bauer

Don't bother. The only reason people kept with the show past season 6 was Kiefer, lose him and you lose the show.

I mean Jack Bauer at some point became the terminator and so the only way of making it suspenseful was tortureporn, which became old quickly. In that sense I can see a non Bauer reboot.

If anything though they need to reboot the concept. Go back to what made it unique, ie. people who get tired and have to go the bathroom because everything is real time. That was what was interesting, not Jack Bauer flying in on a rocket, jumping over some sharks and one-shotting a complete off shore drilling platform filled with baddies.

Still my favorite scene out of every single episode of 24:

Was the ending to "Live Another Day" the end of the Jack Bauer story line? Because I might be a little upset if that's the case.

24 Season 9 had Jack Bauer driving full speed through London avoiding numerous drone strikes aimed at his car before holding a hobo up at gunpoint in order to steal his brick so that he could make a miraculous escape in order to save the president from being blown up.

Yes, that seriously happened. And it was amazing. I want more of that.

I could stand a Tony season, but 24 without Jack Bauer doesn't feel right at all.

24 without Jack Bauer is like:

- Die Hard without John McClane
- Dirty Harry without Clint Eastwood
- Top Gear v2 without Clarkson, Hammond and May
- James Bond without...James Bond?

24 is "the Jack Bauer power hour" for a reason. And it always has been.

They can do a new 24 but it won't be the same. And they can't do a Jack Bauer 2.0 as it will never, ever match the original. they need to do something totally different. And that's gonna be fucking hard as Bauer was a personification of EVERYTHING 24.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Isn't Homeland already 24 without Jack Bauer? I mean 24 is more ridiculous, but they're cut from the same cloth.

It's doable though. The character Jack Bauer didn't exist before 24, so it stands to reason they could create another character that hit those right notes. But I think they'd have to ditch the compulsion to have a mole every season.

Live Another Great was great. Jack Bauer in a car chase with a drone. Jack Bauer throwing not one, but TWO defenestrations. And Jack Bauer chopping someone's head off with a katana. Shortening it to 12 episodes helped out a lot.
