Just bought an OG XL back a week ago, fuck right off Nintendo. It shouldn't have taken this damn long to get a reasonably priced n3ds here.
Why would you buy a new device so close to black friday?

buy it, take it home, do the transfer, keep the receipt. go back later with the receipt and trade the n3DS XL in for a refund however you paid for it originally.

'119.99 MSRP, Special 20 Dollar Discount for Black Friday'
I give it just 2 hours.
Back in 2010, $100 green and orange DSi's went out of stock in just 4 hours. This is way worse.
The article says it will be available Nov 25, which is Black Friday. It also says limited edition as well. So I don't know how you got an ongoing price from all that.
Even better

You played yourself.
Maybe because the Switch is a home console and not a replacement for their mobile consoles.
Any news of more faceplates to coincide with this?
If I didn't have some digital games on my 3ds I'd switch to the new 3DS.
But I hardly play it anyways. I think it's just a super tempting price.
The price is so cheap, I feel like this might be a sign that the 3DS might be on it's way out after next year because Switch.
As far as I can tell they haven't even made any new faceplates for Japan since Spring. Not sure if they've stopped making new ones or what. There are still some great ones out there though, and some can be had for a pretty decent price now.
Because im an idiot. This is also cdn, and black friday sales tend to be pretty limited around here. The regular price of this model is $149.99. Why would anyone buy a system this close to when pretty much every system gets a price cut or promotional holiday bundle?
Update: A Nintendo representative told Polygon that the $99.99 price will be available at all U.S. retailers, and only for these two special-edition models of the New Nintendo 3DS.
This is available at all US retailers, according to an update on Polygon's article:

If by that you mean the Super Famicom color configuration, then yes. All New Nintendo 3DSes (non-XL) seem to have that. Unless they're doing something different for this specific model.
