How balanced is this game?

It's not the most balanced game in the world, but it's still good fun. Not sure if they're changing anything from the import, but there were definitely instances of constant juggling, favorites and people running away like pussies.

You can do any heavy dash attack instantly by tapping in a direction twice, then inputting heavy. Leo, Zero, and Garuda get to combo off of theirs if they're far enough away. I'm not sure about the speed of Garuda's, but Leo and Zero can do them repeatedly and move faster than running, or even locked on running (which makes you faster, it was clearly intended to be impossible to run away, but it just isn't true)

A bunch of characters have divekicks, Bull happens to be able to cancel the grounded recovery of his into his instant dash attack, which is pretty much gamma charge without the armor (at least I don't think it has armor, but it has some pretty stupid priority).

Also, how's Rin Rin?

From what I've seen she's the worst of the Rin sisters, which is still really, really good. The other ones have super broken air killer weapons lights, which she simply lacks. She still has the great base moveset and her fans are still pretty good.

Darksim; Darkim150; X360.

I see that my Power Rangers Gargoyle Force gif was a hit

I imported it, but never really partook in the GAF thread here, hopefully I will this time. But really, hopefully I don't need to go digging around on this or the SRK thread to find people to play with.

To people trying to decide who they want to main, many characters are often really good at certain gametypes but mediocre at others, so it's really a good idea to main two characters anyway.

I would also probably enjoy discussing what anyone who has had the game's opinion is on what tiers would look like in this game, though they would probably change quite a bit between FFA and team gametypes.
You made that?
This is Binary Domain 2, the third game in the MadWorld saga made by Square-Enix.
Can't wait for that Raitoningu cameo DLC.

Maybe I'm wrong to assume the demo is new, is it old? Let me try finding it again haha.

Someone probably already answered this, but just in case no one did, the demo is indeed old. I think it came out on the JPSN last June or July.

My sincerest thanks to those of you that followed the ID/Gamertag format. All of you should be added to the OP and it made doing so a relative breeze.

Thanks for putting the list together!

I noticed this game doesn't have a single multiplayer trohpy/achievement.

That's weird.

It is weird in that it's the not usual, but I actually think that's pretty awesome. Maybe we'll end up playing the multiplayer simply because it's fun, not just to get some trophies, ya know?

It means someone who buys the game a million years later can actually get all of the achievements!

Also, since they allow you to play with bots, they probably figured it wasn't worth it.

First off -- where did you get that AWESOME Bull GIF? What's that from??

Thanks for the detailed explanation. One more point -- how does e ancel the grounded recovry of his divekick into an instant dash attack? Simply by tapping forward twice plus heavy attack as soon as he lands from the divekick?

From what I've seen she's the worst of the Rin sisters, which is still really, really good. The other ones have super broken air killer weapons lights, which she simply lacks. She still has the great base moveset and her fans are still pretty good.
OK, I'm cool with that. :)

Even trough i didnt wanted to spoil myself with the game i watched a video yesterday about Zero. I will take him as my Maincharacter.

All my gifs, Gurren Lagann iphone 5 backgrounds too if you want.

You cancel the Bull thing just by doing it. You can cancel into standing heavy as well... but you really don't have much of a reason too when you can instead zip around with Bull's great dash attack.

If you haven't figured it out already, I pretty much mained Bull by the end of the 360 versions life. I started off as a Leo/Bull main and slowly became Bull/Leo instead. There's this nut on the SRK thread that single handedly changed my entire opinion on Bull, I thought he wasn't very good at one point too.

OMG, Ai Rin is top-tier?? Hell yeah :D I was gonna main her anyway <3

False edit: oh wait, it's actually Fei Rin which I'm going to main

Just played the Japanese demo again after learning that you can change the text and audio to english. Lol at Black Barron's voice and the way he talks.

The game is kind of fun but I wish it were more like Godhand where you had a bunch of different moves to choose from and stuff. The moves you do have are pretty cool, but I wish there were more. I couldn't try out the other characters since nobody is playing the demo online anymore. That or it's down and they just let me try. lol

I do know one thing though, the boss music for both characters got me pretty hyped. But the plane bombings in both (I think that was dumb) cut off that music and ruined the mood.

Is it the same Black Baron from MadWorld?

I just switched my pre-order from Amazon to Zavvi, because 19,29€ is one hell of a deal.

Wish me luck folks :/

Edit: nope, back to Amazon, Zavvi is out of PS3 copies.

Outside of the infinite/KW glitch damage and her jumping guns randomly stunning people, I don't think Bayonetta is as ridiculous as people make her out to be. Characters have far more obnoxious things to do, i.e. jumping nunchucks and the Leo-lunge.

Nah she's really good. Her Squarex2 Triangle chain leads to an untechable knockdown which she can then jump cancel into her anti air heavy to lead into her infinite or heavy J.KWH glitch.

It's not just just her having those tools that make her good. It's how easy it is for her to use them. She's not the only one who can use the glitch, but she's probably the character that benefits the most from it.

all that combined with her guns(ranged multihitting making it an amazing tool in this game to bait stuns) make her an unbeatable god in the right hands in cage match.

Her only weakness is that she seems to lack good guard breaking tools.

I didn't think Zero was that amazing either. KWH has ridiculous range, but outside of that I wasn't too impressed.

Zero was the most slept on character back when I played. I think he'll be one of the most popular characters in US release though.

he has the best launcher in the game.(most horizontal range. I believe he has an infinite possible because of this) His KWH combos WITH ITSELF and he has a ground chain that both leads into a launched state AND is an effective guard breaker

Plus he can also make use of the j.KWH glitch.

I think he's the closest thing to bayo's level in the game

Jack is bad, but I've met low tier heroes who actually do really well with him and occasionally even win. I don't understand how though.

In cage match? Me neither then lol

but in larger modes I think any character can win really. Anyone can do damage and get kills off a lucky raw launcher or with team assistance.

Jack doesn't really bring anything to help a team though

Why would you think Bull is that bad? He has trouble stealing kills in FFA, but I actually think he's one of the best team characters in the game. KWL is some of the best crowd control in the game, and charged KWH does such an unbelievably stupid amount of damage that setting it up on a crowd pretty much means that your teammates are guaranteed to get the kill if you didn't already. He also has jump light > dash heavy cancel for moving around, letting him outrun even the Leo/Zero dash attacking crap for when he's the leader in team battle.

I was mostly thinking of characters in an individual setting, but you're right Bull does have alot of utility in this way I suppose

In a character vs character setting though his moves are too slow to do anything. You can't combo into his ground KWL chain so there's really nothing to fear from getting hit by his normal attacks, and it's so slow it gets stuffed out by pretty much anything raw. His normals are all really short range and slow without lean extender so he pretty much gets eaten alive by characters like Max and Bayo.

he just doesn't have any good options 1v1 really. Like his only hope is to catch faster characters blocking with a guard break setups

Friggin Armored Core For Answer man. Or even worse...Chromehounds multiplayer achievements.

As for my character I'm pretty set on Baron. But if my experience with fighting games is anything to go on, the character I choose at the start is usually the one I end up being terrible with.

Played the tutorial and some of the campaign earlier. It's absolute carnage and hard to know what the feck is going on, but it's satisfying and fun.

Worth getting only for Bayonetta in red.

Why I didn't think she was that ridiculous was because I never felt imminent fear from her jab.. because I can like, block it, or armor through it with some character. The heavy that causes the knockdown also has her standing around for half a year if she doesn't connect it. This is just my experience from playing against her though, but the only thing was that I needed to not try to attack the jumping guns head on or I would die.

he has the best launcher in the game.(most horizontal range. I believe he has an infinite possible because of this)

He takes a very large step forward before actually doing his attack, which is a fighting game lolno if I ever saw one. I always thought the Rin sisters had stupid launchers, not because of range, but because of how fast they were. Against all the characters trying to armor their way through everything, they can just stand in place and press H without caring into their pseudo-infnites/grounded resets. It doesn't make Zero's launcher bad, but I don't really think it's that amazing when people pressing buttons will readily hit you out of it.

His KWH combos WITH ITSELF

Okay, no. Stop. Well, actually, yeah I've had people do that to me before, though I pretty much refused to believe that it existed due to the sheer stupidity. Like I said, the range on that thing is enough to make it ridiculous already.

Plus he can also make use of the j.KWH glitch.

If you do more than one rep of his relaunch loop, you need to be against the wall to do the KWH glitch or their too far away and you don't get the cinematic. At least from my experience. I remember you mentioning something about some other Zero loop, but I don't know what that is.

but in larger modes I think any character can win really. Anyone can do damage and get kills off a lucky raw launcher or with team assistance

I don't really think 1v1 is a good way to evaluate characters in this game, because it only really applies to 1v1. Even though anyone can win in larger modes, there are clearly characters better at them too.

eaten alive by characters like Max

In a cage match against Bull, Max can get a life lead and then sit in place with his counter active, and he wins the game.

he just doesn't have any good options 1v1 really. Like his only hope is to catch faster characters blocking with a guard break setups

He sucks in cage match, yes. But in an isolated 1v1 withing a larger match, he can choose to not directly fight whoever it is. The divekick > dash attack thing isn't just good for running away, it's really obnoxious for irritating people and stalling. His dash attack is also really good in general, despite not giving him a combo (not like he has combos anyway). He won't kill anyone in a 1v1, but he can certainly avoid being killed.

Keep in mind that I am severely biased against my own characters, lol.

I like Leo too much to drop him, despite him being increasingly worse the more chaotic a match is. I've still somehow won plenty of FFA with him, but, but I usually switch over to Bull for team modes and battle royale. I did pick Zero up too, but I'm just too spoiled by Leo's hilarious shift combo pressure to drop him.

Excellent analysis, guys. :) What's Oinkie like? How does his reptilian form work? And any breakdowns of Blacker Baron's strengths, weaknesses, points of interest, etc, would be appreciated.

Was gonna pick this up on 360 but how does it run the ps3? You know, considering bayonetta's performance and everything. Also, how big is the install size?

Quick question before I preorder, PS3 or 360?, this is not a Bayonetta case or one version being superior, right?.

Well some Japanese site analyzed it: http://ps360.ldblog.jp/archives/53661726.html

PS3 seems to be better since there is no screentearing and negligible difference in frame rate.
About the same with no real visual difference so you're good to go with whichever one you decide to buy. Also Bayonetta PS3 was not ported by Platinum.

Why are so many playing this on PS3?
I personally go with PS3 over Xbox for Japanese-developed games since PS3 is often the lead platform during development. Unless of course, the X360 version is significantly better in terms of visuals/performance. I also prefer Bluray disc format and the look of PS3 cases.

However.. I'm really tempted to double dip since I love Platinum and to play this game online with as many people/friends as possible.

PS3 being lead platform (though this doesn't seem to make a significant difference), I don't play online enough so I let Live end, and Microsoft's kind of been bugging me anyway. I've actually been way more in favor of getting PS3 versions unless the 360 version is straight up superior in an undebatable way like with Bayonetta or pre- L.A. Noire Rockstar games, and half of the time that happens there's an even better PC version to get. And in this specific case I believe I have more slots open on the PS3 friends list (not that there's an easy way to count), so that will work better at least temporarily for this time.

(The shitty cases-with-holes thing has also been a factor, but that's been dropped in favor of just thinner plastic where the holes were, so now the ball's in Nintendo's court on addressing that, and unfortunately they seem content to leave them there.)

Almost considering getting this despite the fact that I'm getting Ni no Kuni this month. Wonder how much Bayonetta will actually cost to unlock later if I don't get it at gamestop. I have $10 worth of Best Buy certificates so I could get it for like $20. Wouldn't be bad.

Seems like it'd be a fun game to jump in some matches every now and then and just mess around. I dunno how well I'll be able to stand up against other people. Esp those people...you know like the ones who just seem to be naturally amazing at the game or it's the only game they're really playing at the moment and putting crazy hours into it to be the very best...LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS~!

I'll just go ahead and add mine.

GameStop has a habit of locking up their bonuses from time to time (Mass Effect 2 bonus weapons, Sonic Generations Casino Night DLC). I've been burned more than once. If you really want Bayonetta, I'd just buy it there.

There was a thread about local play on PG's boards a while ago

I don't understand why so many games are shafting it these days. Is it that much harder to implement local multiplayer than online?
Yes.

PGForumUser said:
Or has the absurd notion that gamers have no real friends to play with contaminated the minds of developers these days?
Nope.

PlatinumGamesJP said:
There will be no system link.

I'm not sure what you would consider a proper answer, but there are a myriad of reasons why it isn't in there. For one, the networking protocol is peer-to-peer. So once you've authenticated with Xbox Live/PSN and started a game, the lag from one machine to should be negligible (avg broadband speed in the US is 5Mbps). Thus, the only real place where a system link scenario is relevant is at a LAN party with no broadband internet connection between machines. I personally haven't been to one of those since the late 90s.

As for net connection differences - we test across a variety of scenarios. We test globally (US-EUR-JAP games), we test two territory, we test locally, we test on a variety of net connections/speeds (I think we have like 10 different service provides running lines into the office, or something silly like that), we test with latency simulators. We've banged on this game as hard as we could in our testing environment, and it has help up pretty well. Obviously, the global games can experience some lag, but that has more to do with the speed of light/distance and hardware latency that it does with the netcode.

The feedback on local multiplayer is helpful though, as your feedback will guide any future multiplayer experiences (nothing to announce!) that we create. I've been sharing it with Inaba-san.

Pretty much covers everything you want to know from JP himself

Too late for Anarchy, but at least they're aware of the demand for local play for their multiplayer content going forward.

If you do more than one rep of his relaunch loop, you need to be against the wall to do the KWH glitch or their too far away and you don't get the cinematic. At least from my experience. I remember you mentioning something about some other Zero loop, but I don't know what that is.

A player named Aaliyah_Robin hit me with some crazy Zero loop a while ago. Their play is what opened my eyes up to the character lol

but I'm not sure on the specifics of it myself. I couldn't replicate it in training mode even without the latency that they performed it in.

Baron in lag ain't nothing to fuck with. Played this dude this morning. Terrible connection. Played three matches. He beat my Max with his Nikolai, but that's cool because my Max is ass and it was close anyway. I owned his Garuda with Gargoyle. Not worth mentioning. Then Baron vs Gargoyle. I beat him free first two rounds, but then this dude kept spamming delayed weak (rolling punches) in the third round. He finally managed to hit me with it then went for uppercut out of it. I knew that wouldn't work. I dodged it, it whiffed, but the cinematic still happened and it was instant death. Wtf man? Next match, same thing. I didn't even bother to 360 it because he kept doing it over and over so I could have if I wanted to, but I was dodging it and the same shit kept happening. He left in the last round so no one won, but what the hell was that shit? x.x
