Shawn Mendes is on course for his second No. 1 on the Pop Songs airplay chart, as Theres Nothing Holdin Me Back is eyeing the top slot of the Aug. 19-dated tally.
The track rose 3-2 on the Pop Songs list dated Aug. 12 with a 10 percent gain in spins at the format in the week ending July 27, according to Nielsen Music. Its nipping at the heels of the current No. 1: Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, featuring Justin Bieber. Despacito, however, is declining in airplay at the format (it was down less than 1 percent for the week) so it may not be able to fend off Mendes for another week.
Despacito has been No. 1 on Pop Songs for the past four weeks. It was the first leader for both Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, and the fifth for Bieber.
