Looking at the finalists for these awards, it sure seems like McCarron is on voters' minds.

I saw this, the College Football Hall of Fame, if McCarron doesn't get any 1st team All American (in any of those various lists), he will never make it into the HoF. A Potential 3 in a row National Championship winning QB, not good enough for entry into the HoF.

Can't wait to see if he also gets a Heisman, and still FAILS TO GET INTO THE HoF!

Criteria for player nominees[edit]
FIRST AND FOREMOST, A PLAYER MUST HAVE RECEIVED MAJOR FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICA RECOGNITION.
A player becomes eligible for consideration by the Foundation's Honors Court 10 years after his last year of intercollegiate football played.
While each nominee's football achievements are of prime consideration, his post-football record as a citizen is also weighed. He must have proven himself worthy as a citizen, carrying the ideals of football forward into his relations with his community and his fellow man with love of his country. Consideration may also be given for academic honors and whether or not the candidate earned a college degree.
In accordance with the 50-year rule,† players must have played their last year of intercollegiate football within the last 50 years. For example, to be eligible for the 2005 ballot, the player must have played his last year in 1955 or thereafter.
The nominee must have ended his professional athletic career prior to the time of the nomination.
†Those players that do not comply with the 50-year rule and coaches who have not won 60% of their games may still be eligible for consideration by the Division I-A and Divisional Honors Review Committees, which examine unique cases.

Hey, it's the first top-ten matchup ever in this ridiculously long rivalry! It's great to see both teams consistently playing for something more than a nice finish to a middling season.

Gig'em Ags! All defensive woes and regrets will be forgiven with one good performance against Mizzou.

Also, I just noticed the clock on the Florida-blocking pic. That had to have been the worst inter-quarter coaching talk of all time.

Half the one loss teams will probably get another loss this week, and we'll see it dwindle further with the conference championships. I think by the time it's all said and done picking a fair top four probably won't be too difficult this year. (lol Fresno and NIU)

As a result everyone will be happy with the idea of a four team playoff until the end of next season when selecting four teams is nearly impossible after a hilariously crazy season.

It's the best week of the year!

’’No matter what happens, they have to go back to Pullman, and I feel sorry for them.” – CHRIS CHANDLER

“They have this kind of technology in Pullman? When did you install telephones?“ — RICHARD MCCORMICK, UW president

“I wouldn’t have taken a recruiting trip there even if they strangled me. I’d die first. It’s a place (Pullman) where you can go and have a good time, as far as there being a lot of drunk people.” — ANDRE DESAUSSURE

“Their fans are real rowdy. During warmups, they were already liquored up. They had no clue what they were saying, so I didn’t pay attention to them.” — JOE JARZYNKA

A beautiful piece from GatorCountry on the ending of the game.Singing our alma mater after victory in the swamp was the greatest feeling in the world.

gatorcountry.com said:
Amid the shock and disgust that filled the stadium after the final whistle blew there was an entirely different emotion from the team in all white.

Jubilation.

As Mornhinweg’s final pass hit the dirt (at the six yard line), the Eagles stormed the field, jumping into their teammates arms. A normal reaction for a team that just pulled off an upset. That wasn’t the picture that stood out.

The team circled around their band — yes, Georgia Southern brought their band (something even Vanderbilt didn’t do) — and they sang their alma mater. They didn’t leave the field.

They couldn’t.

Instead, players hung around on the field. Their hands on their collective heads and hips, trying their hardest to realize the magnitude of what they had just accomplished.

Florida is filled with NFL talent. When the Gators season ends next week it won’t be the last football game for a lot of the seniors and junior Gators. This was, however, the last game for just about every senior on Georgia Southern. The Eagles are in a transition period between FCS and FBS. That means they don’t qualify for the FCS playoffs or a bowl game.

The game against Florida was their season finale and thus, the final game of many of those young men’s’ careers.

What a way to go out for a group of players who didn’t have big D1 scholarship offers from schools like Florida.

As I walked out of Muschamp’s press conference a player stood in the end zone in cargo shorts, a Georgia Southern football shirt and flip-flops. He stood, hands on hips and mouth open, soaking up the moment. A coach walked over to his player, draped an arm over his shoulder and they walked off the field together.

It’s all right to be upset or angry that your team lost but when you take a step back and think about what this game meant to a bunch of football players who were told they’re too small or too slow to play against the big boys, you can’t help but feel good for a team like Georgia Southern.

I got grudge sucked!
So that ESPN commercial where everyone in Alabama says Roll Tide after about every exchange? Not quite hyperbole. Even when I wore my Duke sweatshirt on Friday, I would hear "Hey Cutcliffe's a Bama boy, ROLL TIDE"
Despite the wind being cold as shit, it didn't rain (much) so it was a fun weekend. I liked the football museum a lot. We had field level seats and a good time was had by all.

And oh yeah, go to hell carolina, go to hell

Vegas isn't a bad place for a bowl game! I would know, I went last year!

I'll change it when I get home.

You realize we have an actual GSU fan who posted in the thread last week who uses that as an avatar?

Didn't know that. But, I'm still using it.

Fun fact:
I had an offer from Georgia Southern for baseball, but I chose Kennesaw State instead.

I posted my predictions for the Iron Bowl in last week's thread, but I figured I would repost them in case someone missed them. I'm also going to post some of the raw stats that I used to derive the predictions. I'm interested in seeing how these play out in the game.

Here are the raw stats. You can see here both the per game averages as well as the way the teams performed against their opponent's averages. I only looked at the stats in games against conference opponents and non-conference opponents in BCS conferences. In the right hand column, numbers above 1.00 are good when looking at offensive stats and numbers below 1.00 are good when looking at defensive stats.

jOu9ZUm.png

I think these stats accurately demonstrate the balanced nature of Alabama's offense as well as the very lopsided nature of Auburn's offense. The biggest surprise to me on the defensive side of the ball was the fact that Auburn's passing defense is actually pretty stout when it comes to giving up touch downs as they held their opponents to 59% of their average in passing TDs.

Anyway, based upon these statistics, here's my prediction for the Iron Bowl:

Code:
AU Rushing	150-180 yds
AU Rushing	1-2 TD
AU Passing	120-140 yds
AU Passing	0-1 TD
[U]Total:	270-320 yds; 1-3 TD[/U]

UA Rushing	200-250 yds
UA Rushing	2-3 TD
UA Passing	225-300 yds
UA Passing	1-2 TD
[U]Total:	425-550 yds; 3-5 TD[/U]
Bama wins: 31-17.

Sigh. Fortunately Southwest doesn't charge a ticket change fee. Might stay at my parents a little longer instead of going to the game.

After reading a very angry thread on the internet with very mad Ohio St posters angered at the thought someone could believe their beloved team could be passed. I got to ask.

If,

Bama loses to Auburn
Auburn wins the SEC
Ohio St wins out

Does Auburn pass Ohio and head to the NC?

Because after reading that anger, I really want to see that happen now.
