DOA5 and DOA5+ I've sunk at least 100ish hours in, I'm still pretty terrible. I was a B Rank for awhile before Ultimate arrived. With DOA5U, I've spent so much money on DLC but haven't had nearly enough time to play- maybe 40 hours or so.

I'm just going to cry here in the corner being C+,
but I know I am bad

Are you on PSN?! We should play! It got to the point where I was playing with the only character I was semi-decent with (Tina) and I just stopped being competitive. And I dropped heavily (I'm a C now!) as I was trying to experiment with Marie Rose. And Kokoro!

So we should play sometime! There have been stretches where I lost 10ish in a row but I was having a blast messing around!

I disagree. Everything looks worse.

Ryu

They jacked up his face and the costume is less detailed.

Girls faces also got jacked up but I guess that's more subjective. I prefer the cute, clean designs of DOA4 over pore-riddled porn stars in DOA5.

I hope they never go back to the "cute", non detailed anime faces to be honest. Imo, it is worth sacrificing some background detail for the much improved and realistic models we received.

Yeah I am on PSN but it has been a bit since the last time I played (month or so). I have very limited time at night during the week due to work, but I am open most weekends.

People who have like 3 versions of DoA5:
how much time have you sunk into DoA5? dunno if the game logs hours played, but i'm curious.

Only ever had the Core fighters pack. I purchased all the characters and a bunch of outfits for like $30-$35 during a PSN sale. Played it to get the feel of it and such with a lot of practice mode for like maybe 20 hours. After that I trained for one local and a Toronto major for probably another 20-30 hours. Managed to eliminate 2 regulars from the major by going 2-2 which made me happy (did much better than Tekken which I've spent 1.5k+ hours practicing). Unfortunately haven't touched it since :(

I do want to support 3D fighters so I shall purchase Last Round whenever it gets released :)

Are there any next gen sticks on the PS4 for under $100?

No :(

Welp looks like I'm picking up a PS4 stick. This plus GG should keep my fingers cramped :p. If anyone is still playing Ultimate on PS3 add meeeee

Rig is nice, except for his janky prison tats. I'm more of a Bayman man myself.
The tattoos are hot if you don't look too closely at their designs. Rig is exactly the kind of character I like in fighting games. I couldn't believe how long it took for him to get a decently revealing costume.

Bayman is a little too close to the standard bara type for me. I think you probably like your hunks a bit more brawny than I do.

Really, all I need is one more hot guy, some speedos to stuff them all in, an easier way to take pictures, and I'm set. They can release all the bikinis and saucy attire for the ladies they want then, but give us man lovers a (literal) bone here.
One or two more guys would be great.

There's no reason not to give every male character a shirtless costume in a game all about fanservice. I know that the DOA series' claim to fame is bodacious shirt-busting tits, but come on. People besides straight men play these games too. The only fighting game series to really embrace a broader audience with its character designs is Soul Calibur with SC4 and 5. Tekken comes close in the newest entries, but the male character models could use some work. I know I've mentioned this before.

Yeah, I certainly love the beefy, ripped bara dudes the most. I like leaner guys too though. Men are wonderful~

Yeah, the discrepancy between the amount of fanservice type content between the male and female characters is really lame. As you said, I'm also under no delusion that DoA's main audience isn't anyone other than people that enjoy bodacious bikini babes, but a few thongs and speedos for the male characters isn't gonna open a black hole or anything. A set of (actually sexy) swimsuits for the guys, an underwear set, some formal wear, and some suitable attractive Halloween costumes and we're good to go. A lot of the girls are breaking the 30+ outfits range right now, and I don't even think any of the guys has more than 11-12. Even the new DLC ladies already have more. :/

As you said, Tekken and SoulCalibur are on the right track (Virtua Fighter too), but for the most part, it's still heavily lopsided. I don't think we're asking for anything crazy here, just some goose & gander goodness. (And let's be real, I can't imagine it's that hard to plaster some speedos on these models and put them up on the shop. Even if they don't sell as much as the female costumes, it's still pretty much free money for them.)

Akira is definitely the hottest guy in DoA5.

I remember seeing this picture being posted in the DoA5 thread from the costume design contest.

I wonder if Team Ninja will ever take that step and release something like this for the men.

Akira is hot, though he's not really a "DoA' guy. ;P

Anyway, as for the costumes, it's pretty lame that we really haven't gotten anything like the above yet. You think they'd want to try to appeal to as many players as possible.

PS4 version is playable at TGS...

Where'd you hear that?

As for the trailer, it looks like it's going to be DoA5 in 1080p without too much extra work done, as anyone with sense would have predicted.

I noticed a new 'wooden docks' level, a new haircut for hitomi (too cute) and what appears to be either a new level with coloured blocks on the floor or a new mode where you have to avoid getting knocked down in certain areas. That last one could be either because it also looks like one of the old oil rig levels.

Didn't really see any evidence that anything else looks way much better. Don't mind though, just want confirmation of 1080p + AA.

EDIT: Wait, that Eliot costume was one of the contest winners, right?! That's awesome that they finally got some of the contest winning costumes in there. They absolutely nailed what the Punk Rock Eliot costume was supposed to look like too, I'm sure that artist will be thrilled.

EDIT 2: Yeah, this was the winner of their first competition, I'm pretty sure:

I'll never understand people who think that there's nothing for girls / gays in this game, lol. Even if I'm a straight guy myself :)

Thank god, I remember being so pissed off when I bought vanilla for the 360 and two days later ultimate was announced, glad I waited to see if this would happen.

when can we expect new info? I really wanna know details, like any graphical upgrades, included characters + costumes, price, etc

I remember a time when Team Ninja released Ninja Gaiden DLC for FREE on the XBOX.

Well that was before anyone knew there was money to be made with DLC. And probably the only time they ever updated a game with new content during that time as well. I know people certainly wanted updates for doax 1 and 2 (especially the latter).

No one said there is nothing. It that the ratio is severely unbalanced.

I'm not expecting it to be 50/50, this game is about boobs, I know that, but most of the girls have three times the amount of costumes the guys have, and the guys have still not got any truly sexy stuff. (The MMA and some of the Halloween stuff is close, but obviously not the same as swimsuits, etc.)

And Eliot in a kilt, (while a nice costume), isn't what gay gamers mean when we say "fanservice".

These costumes are too expensive as it is anyway, include all the costumes with the remaster for $60.00 and I will buy it. Buying all these bikini costumes to put on jaggy bodies never made sense in the first place.

You have no concept of capitalism or commerce, do you?

DoA1 was originally just a conversion kit for Sega games?! Mind blown.

I don't get how you could convert VF1 and 2 though, isn't one Model 1 and the other Model 2 hardware with different specifications?! Would someone care to enlighten me?

Meanwhile, all of the costume DLC add up to over $150.

I'd rather have it that way than the other... costumes have no impact on gameplay, and there's no reason to buy them all unless you're a crazy collector. Let people spend as much money as they want on trivial stuff, as long as it doesn't prevent regular players from enjoying the game...

Yeah, the costume situation is pretty dumb. Not that this is an important factor, but you'd think guys would be easier to design and model costumes for. The devs could give the male characters a wide range of nice looks just by sticking them in different pants/shorts/swimsuits.

Akira is definitely the hottest guy in DoA5.
Nah, that would be Rig.

I'd be happy to have that costume even without the cutouts and bulge.

My good dude. Eliot looks like a child (or a twink if you want to be charitable). That punk rock costume does look good, but Eliot doesn't deliver the fanservice we're after. Like Hours said, guys are severely underrepresented in DOA. Again, compare the costume count for male vs. female characters. Also compare the costume styles. The girls have very fanservicey outfits.
