Huh... Big spoiler from the new manga chapter that likely is an anime spoiler too with big implications for the arc...
Quitella was the GoD that defeated Beerus in an arm wrestling match. It's very unlikely the anime or manga would change something like that. So, the mortal stronger than a GoD Whis mentioned in the anime is from Universe 4... which suggests someone over there is much more dangerous than they look like at this point.

When they mentioned the mortal stronger than a GoD, did they say they were from the same universe? Maybe he got beat by someone outside his universe. I just don't see them pulling that out right now when the final phase of the tourney is about to start with goku vs jiren

Whis mentions the mortal, says the GoD of that mortal's universe is stronger than Beerus, and then Beerus clarifies that he only lost an arm wrestling match.

Maybe that's why Heroes added Jiren so early? He'll be outright beaten by Goku's new form in the special and the actual strongest opponent in the tournament is someone else altogether.

nah, it should be obvious to anyone at this point that it would be Quitela. He is literally the only GoD other than Champa who Beerus has had actual proper interaction with in the anime, the only GoD other than Champa who has been shown to have a history and relationship(terrible one at that) with Beerus in the anime and he is flat out called Beerus' rival in his ToP bio. Toei haven't been subtle about it at all.

I could see 17 using what he learned from Kakunsa to use the environment to his advantage/ to Dyspo's disadvantage.
Maybe 17 could learn a new way to attack from Dyspo.
It could just be `17 tanking a hit and using that as his chance to get a hit in. Or maybe this is when 18 and 17 work together, one gets hit, the other goes in for an attack.
The anime and manga more or less share the same plotpoints, it's execution is just different. There isn't going to be a major discrepancy like the strongest mortal being in Universe 11 in the anime, and the strongest mortal being in Unvierse 4 in the manga. It just isn't happening, and hasn't happened yet.

we don't know where that strong mortal thing is even going yet, don't assume that that's going to be some super important plot point played straight, no one saw the Monaka troll coming when Beerus first brought up the thing about someone stronger than Goku. It may not play out as obviously as everyone assumes it will on the surface.
Yep, just take a look at the Goku Black arc, whilst events may have been executed extremely differently in the manga the main story beats were exactly the same as in the anime, like Goku Black and Zamasu fusing, Vegito showing up, Goku fighting Merged Zamasu, Trunks cutting him in half, Zeno getting summouned.
