Ha ha. So we've reached this stage of the ds v x360 pad debate.
I have a feeling the ergonomic design of the x360 makes people who find it comfortable resort to making up for everything else that is not so good in the pad.
Rechargeable batteries, crappy d-pad, crappy buttons quality overall; and heck somehow even the asymmetric design is inherently better somehow.
I like the rationalisation that the dpad and right analogue should be switched because the games that require the dpad have been relegated below dual analog games (namely fps/tps) popularity wise. By that logic, why hasn't the face buttons changed position too? Surely the same applies with the other more important analogue stick: the look/aim one?
It makes no real sense to have one hand top left, the other bottom right. But I guess, make people feel comfortable, and everything else falls into place.
In my opinion, the x360 control pad is inferior for
driving games
fighting games
shmups
And I guess anything that requires keyboard and mouse.
Though to be fair, the x360 pad is now seemingly the default control pad scheme on the pc, and that's a decent achievement. And so people keep saying it's a perfect controller. Love or hate the DS, but x360 controller is here to stay.
