Man, eating corpses is the best. My hunger has reached an all-time low (karma too, but whatever). I barely have to carry any food around in hardcore mode - always some fresh supply lying around (I say lying around because I usually have to kill them first before I start the munching). It's great for some quick healing, too. Low on health or hungry? Just drop by your friendly neighborhood townie and have a snack. Delicious!

The one problem I had was when I was in the
ghoul place
and I was running out of health sources. I need to unlock lvl 2 cannibalism to nom on them too.

How should I approach this? I want to take down Legion there and have held it off for the longest time. I could use the truck that would cause the whole town to be destroyed or I could just kill them all one by one, but I don't know which is more beneficial. And then there's The Fort, is this a place of importance in the endgame of the story or something? I am vilified by Legion for what it's worth.

Kill them all and ask questions later. Unless you're siding with them, I doubt you'll "break" anything in the process, just lose out on a few faction quests.

Is there a way to
save Benny from the Cesar tent when he is captured and tied by the legion? during the conversation tree he mentions "if you had a bobby pin and a stealthyboy, I could escape". I didn't have a stealth boy at the time, so I just ended the conversation and before even talking to Cesar I left the tent, (that mission still pending)

I went across the wasteland searching for a stealthboy for days and nights to save the life of the guy who laughed at me before shooting at me in the head, and again letting his goons ambush me in my Hotel room after saying "we're all cool now"

I finally did find it... I went back to Benny and for the life of me there was no option in the conversation tree for the Stealthboy...I tried by restarting the conversation over and over agian taking different paths, but all the bastid wanted to do is make a run for it...and well... we all know how that goes. So has anyone Saved the bastid with that method? Stealthboy and a bobby pin, or he just says that for a laugh?

You can save him with that method, well he disappears at least, but the entire camp immediately turns hostile towards you and tries to kill you.

Yup. For the Novac quest, I found the guilty person and had Boone
snipe her brains out.
I then proceeded to eat her corpse while he watched
from atop the dinosaur
. He then joined my party. I like how he doesn't judge me for being a cannibal. He doesn't praise me for it, but passivity is just as good as approval for this specific subject. Boone's alright in my book.

both your posts about this.. .cannibalism = hilarious

You know, I've been following this thread since the game launched and it's pretty awesome to see how different all of our stories are. The Benny situation is a good example of this, what happened in my game was entirely different than what you guys have mentioned.
I found him at the tops, seduced him with the Black Widow perk then strangled him in his sleep.
So good.

Yeah well I know about the camp attacking me, since I tried to save him by just untying him and making him run (but he gets killed in 2 seconds) I on the other hand..I'm not gonna let some Pansy legion kids take me down even in their own camp, I just made a run for the gates, conveniently enough they will escort me all the way back across the river with their raft then still continue to attack me..

But yeah... it's an easy escape for me, not so much for my good friend Benny, wish I had Stealth boys when that prompt came up. I guess it's bad timing for him and he probably "lost" his last "Karma" right there, dare I say it ;)

Sorry for the dumb question but: is there a flashlight in New Vegas, and if so, how the hell do you turn it on with a 360 controller?
Yeah don't feel so bad, I was good 10 to 12 hours into the game before I discovered this myself in some dark ghoul vault (I think). I am on the PC version its hold down (Tab) for me the same button that brings up your pip boy, instead of taping it, hold it down.

the bright(ened) screen of your pip boy doubles as a flashlight, kinda cool I guess;

I figured he'd vanish and the Legion would be like "Holy shit what happened!" but I guess they're smarter than that.

In hindsight, i should have recorded it with Fraps. Maybe ill do it again like that.
The whole thing?

A 3min recording of New Vegas at 1600x900 from fraps is 3.9GB.

Better get a server rack and some TB drives. :lol

BethBlog: More news on New Vegas updates
We wanted to give you guys a heads-up regarding the latest progress on Fallout: New Vegas updates.

We’ve come up with solutions for the Xbox 360 save issue folks are reporting, along with a number of other issues being reported. We’re currently running final testing and certification on a comprehensive patch for all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), so we’ll have something available in the coming weeks. When we have more details, we’ll let you know.

In the meantime, an incremental update for PC should be going up by early next week that will fix the save corruption issues and problems with companions, as well as improve performance for NVIDIA users and resolve some issues reported with Havok.

So I've been doing more testing with various perks, and the last check I did with Commando, it worked fine.

There's some condition there where taking it doesn't allow it to work and I don't know what it is yet. I guess my only suggestion for now is to save before you take it and actually verifying it on a nearby stationary NPC before keeping it in your build.

On the topic of other broken perks from said testing, Stonewall appears to be broken in a potentially less negative way. It says you should have +5 DT versus unarmed/melee, but all it seems to do is give you +5 DT if you are holding an unarmed or melee weapon. Misplaced condition I guess.

I accidentally saved over my main file :(

I was trying to have two playthroughs at once but I guess that doesn't work too good. Oh well I wasn't that far in the main anyway.

I've recruited Gannon but I sent him back to the Presidential Suite while I finished Veronica's loyalty quest. Now I no longer get the option to ask him to walk the wasteland with me. He just hangs out in the Presidential Suite.

When I have another companion and I speak with Gannon, I get an option to ask him to come with me. Of course then I get the "you can only have one companion" error message. But when I dismiss the other companion, my conversational options with Gannon won't let me ask him to come with me. I used to get the option to ask him to come with me when speaking with him in the Presidential Suite, so I'm not sure why it no longer pops up.

I'm only at "liked" status with the Brotherhood and I'm not wearing their armor, so it can't be that I'm too down with the Brotherhood that Arcade won't hang out with me. Gannon's loyalty quest, along with Raul's are the only one's I've left to complete. Anyone else have this problem? Is this a bug?

I did that with my "Call of Pripyat" recently. Still kinda depressed about it.

Still debating weather or not to buy this yet. Should I just wait for more patches?

Started my third and final character, this time a melee/sneak guy with speech. A smooth-talking thief with tons of luck and no morals whatsoever--that means Goodsprings is gone. Oh, the sadness.

Sneaking with a melee weapon is more fun than guns, though. Got Chance's Knife right at the start, feels good.

Josh Sawyer, lead designer made an interesting post on the SA forums regarding companions. Everyone finding Boone to be a badass isn't a coincedence.

By the way, in case anyone is interested, we did find out why Boone was extremely powerful and many of the other companions seemed/were actually super terrible. One issue was a bug related to calculating the leveled skills of characters once they were set to followers (they were reset to 1st level values). The other problem was that Boone, specifically, was having bonuses applied to his skills through his script. This resulted in Boone always having over 100% Guns regardless of when you recruited him. Weapon skill not only increases damage, but reduces weapon wobble during movement, which is why regardless of where Boone was moving/what he was doing, he was able to pull off running headshots that drop the target in one attack.

I guess if you like your Boone don't download any upcoming patches.

I've seen Boone die a lot on streams, especially against cazadores and nightstalkers. He only seems to be super powerful against slower opponents.

Damn! That would be my worst nightmare, but I rotate between a few different saves to prevent it. Every time I save I do it over the oldest of the three files, so I can always have two different spots to revert back to just in case.

I think that the Mass Effect system of saves being restricted to specific careers/characters should be the standard, t'would be nice if other dev's used that system.

Fuck them. They wipe out both of my companions within seconds, those things are brutal.

Yeah my Boone fell to Nightstalkers. After poor Cass left me, I didn't care. Was totally desensitized to my companions from that moment onwards. Only kept Arcade alive so I could get a certain armor.

I don't understand how this can even happen. The NPC's main weapons aren't even in their inventory. If you remove all guns/weapons from Boone, it should default to his sniper. That and tell him to use ramge.

The various "weapon check" NPCs will actually remove companion weapons as well and, occasionally, glitch out and give them to you by accident when you leave. Companion won't take it back, though.

Gannon's a bit buggy. Tell your pet companion to scram as well, and he should opt to join then.

It's my understanding that this is most common with Boone so I make a habit of taking someone else with me around New Vegas when I'm there.

Ugh, got to transfer my loot from
Novac to Lucky 38 today
that's going to be a bitch. Right after I finish
Vault 22 - the great thing about the vaults I've encountered this time is that they've each been varied, except for Tranquility Lane one of Fallout 3, I thought they were all very similar. Vault 22 for instance has plant growth. I got bored with them in the first but this I'm really enjoying them.
