Great title

Also damn I went to bed and then I catch up on the last few pages to get to the new thread and people were going at it

Gosh people we all need to be friends

I'm fucking awful at xrd
Maybe we need to play a long set this week. I have a lot of rust to break off.

Do any of you guys just randomly "practice" combos and setups in your mind's eye throughout the day? I will be sitting around talking and just imagine a Zato string or Firebrand unblockable setup. I still practice my Painwheel bnb and Blanka Oki setups.

My problem in Xrd is defense. Blocking successfully being ultimately meaningless puts me out of my element.

Yeah, and then I don't actually practice and jump online expecting my execution to be good somehow lol

Only at work. I'll often think of a setup that could work and go home and practice it only to find it didn't work quite as well as I thought it would. :[

I've done that too. I'll think up something which sounds right by the numbers, and then I try it and the pushback makes it impossible or something

Did this a bunch back in senior year in high school when Marvel 3 Vanilla came out and at work when Ultimate came out.

Yeah, they never worked as well as I hoped either, lol

Apparently Fuudo missed his flight again. It seems that it happens pretty often for him when he goes to France, for some reason.

Thanks for watching (when you could) this weekend and thanks for all the support. Thanks especially to those to came (Shackzam, Irfaanator, Mr. X, Thores, Compbros, am I forgetting anyone?) though I'm sorry I didn't have time to meet any of you. Hopefully you had a great time and we put on a good show.

*passes out*

For me the best game I played actually wasn't the one I was the most active in. Not even close. The best had to have been Skullgirls, but the one I played the most was honestly MVC3.

Spooky da bess. Can't wait to watch the broadcast.

I've put thousands of hours into Melee, but it was all couch play and I don't think I'd do well at an actual tournament. SG and VSav on the other hand are different. I've only put hundreds of hours into both games and I feel I could do well at a tournament if I put my mind to it. SG is something I do particularly well in. Mike Z is an absolute wizard at designing accessible vs style games because I fucking suck at combos.

I'm also one of the top 5 Lei Lei players in the western hemisphere thanks to the tiny player base. God bless father time!

Spooky is going to stream Combo Breaker Top 8 on Saturday.

@teamspooky: Consider this a semi formal announcement. We will be rebroadcasting some of the top 8s you couldn't see at combo breaker this Saturday.

@teamspooky: That includes tag 2 umvc3 and skullgirls! More info this week at nlbc.

Melee for both. I play Melee every day. No other FG has grabbed me like this.

Back when I was still in school I used to tap out Marvel combos on my desk lol. I think it helped wIth muscle memory at least.

I think I work out most of my combos and setups when I'm actually sitting down in training mode or playing matches, but I definitely daydream about timings and execution rhythms throughout the day, and mentally review things I had to memorize, like character-specifics.

It's been a constant stream of activity for me with Guilty Gear ever since I started getting back into Accent Core when the 360/PS3 release was announced, and, yeah it's been da bes.

I did this for the longest time when I was really into Guitar Hero, lol. Would always tap out songs I worked on 100%'ing at the time

I also tapped out basic Marvel 3 bnbs on the road to Vegas the past two years, too

Glad to know I am not crazy. Or that all of you are crazy, too, at least!

I'm assuming sf5 will be playable at e3. If so, I'll give you guys the rundown
Taking requests? ;-D

I don't know if I would count any fighting game as the best, but I have spent the most time with MvC3 and Smash 4.

Didn't know the winner of MK10 at Combo Breaker was a tester. Somehow that seems really sleazy only cause the game hasn't been out that long.

For me, the fighting game I was most active in was Tekken 5. I was heading to my local arcade early and often to get in some games with the small amount of folks that would gather to play.

I'm kind of misunderstanding the "best" part of the question, but I will answer with Soul Calibur 2. I met my closest group of friends by playing Soul Calibur 2 in my local arcade, at a time when I didn't have a lot of friends.

Guilty Gear. Best fighting game I've played so far, IMO. And I've some how have fallen in to the roll of scene curator for my local area.

My problem in Xrd is defense. Blocking successfully being ultimately meaningless puts me out of my element.

Blocking is never fruitless. Give me the details and I can tell you where blocking could have been used to reverse the situation.

I guess the one I was most active in was BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma, as it was with a group of people I know in college that were into ArcSys fighters and introduced me to them. Ended up playing the Japanese copy whenever we met up for a couple months, and when the US version came out I got that and practiced with it for another month or so, basically being involved with that for most of the spring semester.

Wasn't the best fighting game that I had played personally, but considering there's no one else I know locally that's into DOA or VF, I can't really consider that involved if it's just me, can I?
