Actually, just 2 get direct ticket, one (Bayern) has to play against some random team first.
Next season Bundesliga is getting the 4 tickets (3full/1playoff). So Calcio will have just 3.

So Bundesliga only gets the four Champions League places starting season 12/13? Or next season?

New Chelsea third. I presume it's legit since all the leaks this year have been.

Right now, just the 3 first are going to play CL (Dortmund, Leverkusen and Bayern playing playoff).
Bundesliga 11/12 will make the fist 4 teams play CL, so CL 12/13 will have 4 german teams and just 3 italian teams. Don't know if I'm being clear (my english kind of sucks).

As the prospect of getting no-one to strengthen the midfield increases (besides Phil Jones, arguably), I'd be more interested in signing a player of his type.

I'm pleased to see the Hamsik rumour appear this evening, since he's a player I mentioned to friends months back as a potential transfer. I'm used to SAF picking up these sorts of players who aren't the most expensive available, and many of them turn out to be valuable members of the first team, or at least great bench options. Either would be fine by me.

Hamsik would fetch quite a price once the stories started rolling.

hoping were also looking at players like Gourcuff, Banega and Defour.

United fan btw

Yes. In every league the last qualifying team has to play in the qualification rounds. Kind of goes without saying.

Got it, cheers. Glad to see Germany getting recognised.

You know, with all our interest in Left Backs suddenly going quiet an old name has suddenly been cropping up in my mind again. Emiliano Insua. One of those Cecil thought didn't rate highly enough on Football Manager and so shipped out on loan. He's back with the squad in Malaysia (couldn't get a Chinese Visa in time) and I reckon he'll play in the remaining pre-season games. I personally really rate him, he's only 22, he's quick, he had a good assist rate when he actually played for us, and I think Clarke and co can sort out his positioning sense which is where he has problems. He also counts as 'home-grown' for us.

I think the backroom team wants a good look at him before committing (sizable) funds to a new Left Back. I can see him being the starting Left Back next season, just a feeling I have.

Edit: Dani Ayala is another young lad who might be making them think again about putting in for a new CB. He's gotten rave reviews wherever he's gone on loan.

Downing to Liverpool for £20m seems almost complete with Dalglish having got a flight back from the pre-season tour to get it done.
N'Zogbia to Aston Villa for £10m seems close. Sunderland have put in a late bid.
Given also to Aston villa for £3.5-£4m but he's haggling with Man city over compensation in terms of wages I believe.
There's some gaining traction in rumours of a bid from us for Scott Parker. Frankly I think £7m is a bit steep for someone of his age.
And we may be popping back to City to pick up Shaun Wright Phillips for £4m.

I thought he played well in the 2009/2010 season, I was sort of disappointed when he went out on loan. I'm not sure what his wage is like, it seemed like they wanted to get rid of him, but we could have a solid collection of fullbacks next year. Insua, Johnson, Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson, Aurelio for the 4 weeks that he's not injured

Agree on Parker.

Also Shaun Wright Phillips. Decent player but what wages will he want and is he really what we need? Not sure....

Scott Parker is definitely possible. West Ham don't want to sell to us.

For Chelsea fans this is significant:

Falcao agrees contract extension until 2015. Release clause increased from €30 million (£26.2m) to €45m (£39.4m).

We will still need another who can play on the wings. If we include N'Zogbia and Albrighton that's all we have. At a pinch Bannan could play left but that's not his forte.

We've been linked with a couple of wingers on the continent but I don't know how good the scouting network will be with the recent managerial change. All the current people we're linked to are easy to spot and judge Premier League players.

Ideally we need a keeper, central midfielder, two wingers and an attack midfielder/striker.

As a Chelsea fan - that is fucking hideous. Our second and third kits last year were nice, thatis not. It's the yellow and the collar.

Maybe it will look a lot better on someone but I still dont like it.

His wage isn't too high AFAIK. Certainly not as high as the big three pieces of driftwood still a the club: Jovanovic, Cole and Poulson. We also still have (amazingly) Philipp Degen and Nabil El Zhar on our books, along with Brad Jones and David N'gog's probable exits it 'should' free up the wage bill a bit anyway. Danny Wilson, Dani Ayala, Martin Kelly and Andre Wisdom are our big future CBs I feel, with Kyrgiakos staying another year, the club might be thinking "do we really need another CB with all these prospects?" Insua can play LB and Kelly can play anywhere across the back 4 when Aurelio gets crocked. I think getting a new CB in depends on Agger, IF he stays fit, we're golden, but he's not been really fit for years.

S, you only list people with teams in the 4 listed leagues?

Nope, check again and you'll see Porto and Sheffield Wednesday on there as well bro, Paul's just in bed right now and can't edit it, leave him a message and I'm sure he'll get back to you. :)

How about people who support more teams? My main team is Copenhagen but also a big Palermo fan for serie a and Chelsea for premier league.

At the end of the day, West Ham. However, I have no interest in them while the pornographers are running the show.

So until life returns to normal, which it may never,
Liverpool
for me.

Lazio in Italy, Real in Spain, Koln, I mean, Bayern in Germany, and St. Etienne in France.
