I don't understand this news....we already knew GTAV existed? Didn't we even see video/screens from it months ago?
We did, but that first trailer came out a year ago. So in a year we have less than a dozen screenshots and a minute trailer with a bunch of quick cuts.

Hell, a release date or even a release window would be sweet. Or the platforms. They haven't even said a word about what it's coming out on :lol

I wonder if this counts as the "we'll be back in a few weeks or so with more" that they teased after the last batch of screenshots. It's already been like five weeks.

Hope not. Maybe we'll get another tidbit on Monday.

It's been 7 weeks and they said, "We will be back with some more to see in a few weeks or so."

I don't think the GI announcement covers that. Rockstar hasn't been back with anything to see yet. If we have to wait for the GI article, it will have been over 11 weeks since their comment.

Oh wow, 7 weeks? Didn't even realize it had been that long. Definitely hope we get something before the cover story.

Yeah and Rockstar said this in July:
"We just have not been in a position to show more of the game than the trailer and will not be for a while yet".

Yet a month and a week later in August, we got the Leisure, Transport, and Business screenshots.

Clearly their timetables mean nothing.

I could see a trailer in November around when the mag hits but that's it.

Trailer#2 at the VGAs with a release date ( March-May ) at the end and a 3rd and final release trailer close to release.

Im not falling for a GTA4 again, though if 5 is more like the episodes than sign me up.
Don't fall for what exactly? The nonexistent chance that Rockstar will ignore all the progression made in both episodes and revert back to a GTA IV style of game? Not bloody likely. It will be Liberty City Episodes on red cordial, with fire-crackers, balloons, and a cherry on top - it's called evolution, and Rockstar evolve better than anyone in the business.

Except it was after San Andreas that they forgot what made GTA fun and made GTA4.

Let´s not go down that road again. GTA IV is a thing of the past.

I´m pretty sure the guys at R* know what worked and what didn´t in the past.

Let´s just wait and see.

GTA:IV is more fun to me than the empty GTA:SA is.

R* have learnt a hell of a lot over the last couple of years in terms of how europhia and RAGE does and doesn't work with their games I think with MP3 for instance they have nailed their weakest area. Shooting.

Going back and playing something like GTA:SA and the shooting is a joke even if you level up it's feels glitchy and thrown together. Partly why the old GTA games anything outside the game that involved combat of any kind was beyond shit.

Add on cars and other stuff that just doesn't feel as good in the wake of GTA:IV

The MP modes in GTA:IV were better than anything in GTA:SA imo.

Exactly.

GTA IV is also the equivalent of GTA III this gen in both playable content and scope.

GTA III
GTA Vice City
GTA San Andreas

GTA IV
Red Dead Redemption
GTA V

They learned from their mistakes from VC ---> SA.

It also had another year of dev time.

GTA V has had a long ass dev cycle. No reason to expect anything than a huge leap especially considering they said it's a "bold reinvention" or whatever.

Rome Total War 2 releasing next year told me that. We'll be lucky if GTA 5 even releases in the same month as its console versions. Rockstar hates PC.

How can the most empty GTA game ever be more fun than the one with the most things to do?

Going back to San Andreas a lot of the stuff is pretty skippable and not really engaging. Why drive an oil tanker late in the game when you won 4 million dollars in a casino? Why have 8 nearly identical buyable houses in Los Venturas alone?

It's coming out November 2012 for consoles.
In May 2013 the PC version will release.
November 2013 it will have a re-release optimized for the PS4/720 consoles.

I am an optimist.

I'm thinking May 2013, Rockstar have had a lot of success in that period with Red a dead selling like it did.

For sure,a few days before E3 and probably at the same time that Microsoft does the presentation event for its Xbox 720.That would be a brilliant move for Rockstar.

Launch the game in May could kill an important part of the GTA V legacy even before its release. March is the best option, if there is not a delay, the game should come in this month.

By the way,MP3 was launched in May and as you know sold less than expected.

Well that could very much be PR talk ("Bold new direction").
Anyway as much as i love RDR, i have to say that the missions themselves are a fucking chore, most of the time, and this is true for GTA4, too.
I've said it many times, but i think they should drop that linear structure entirely, focusing on a more open ended approach.
Unless Dan Houser is some kind of David Cage that HAS to shove his stories down our throats. :\

I don't think the MP3 sales were due to the release date.
Linear shooter + 3rd entry in an unknown brand + mixed reception.

It could be PR talk but they never have said stuff like that before, I don't think.

Word. The scripted stuff in IV was goddamn terrible.

GTA is a beast and I'm most definitely putting all my odds on a March release, at the end of the fiscal quarter.

Take Two is going to murder that quarter.

MURDER IT.

You should look up the quarter earnings of 2008 when IV came out in relation to other years, it was ridiculous (I'll see if I can find the numbers)

I can´t see it,imo before to read the first preview(GI or Xbox World Magazine),we should have a second trailer, and essentially the release date.

Take-Two has its earnings conference call in October 30,so the second trailer and the release date would come before that.

I would be shocked if Agent even existed.
Remember R* has their own dev cycle. They could dark on a title for years if they want to. Odds are it probably is a next gen (and multiplatform) title now. They never show a anything off until they feel it's far enough along.

I think they should release the second trailer before the GI article, otherwise we'll end up reading about things before we see them unless GI doesn't cover anything new. It would be better to view the trailer first and then read about the details of what they showed.

Here's some more pics since I know you guys love them.

Yeah, just like Red Dead.

I do think Agent exists, or will exist, but I don't see it coming out anytime soon.

I suppose if you really feel the need to shit up every single GTA topic with your cruft, that's your right as a gaffer. Carry on.

Muffdrool

Again I will ask, how old are you? Seriously.

At this point you have gone to such great lengths to prove that your map predictions are right, it actually doesn't matter how the actual world will be laid out. Close or not. Even if it isn't at all, it seems that you will still find a way somehow to take more screen captures and put it together in some way to prove you were right all along.

Can't you just wait for some official information? Or head over to gtaforums.com; they'll surely appreciate your effort.

He posts the same stuff there, and they don't.

You could at least open your own separate "GTA V Map Analysis" topic and post as much of your stuff in there as you want.

Count the posts in which I posted game-related maps/images. Now count the posts from people crying about them and contributing nothing to the threads.

Now count the times you fail to take the hint that your map posts are unparseable noise to many of us, and noise is inherently annoying.

Oh wait, you *do* get the hint:

Here's some more pics since I know you guys love them

...but you keep doing it anyway. Almost as if you were trolling.

You can have the last word. Muffdrool out.
