Thank you for the tips. I played a lot of GT3 & 4 and am quite comfortable with the pressure-sensitive buttons for accelerating and braking. I will play some Arcade time trials with a powerful car and see what steering sensitivity feels comfortable. Update 2.09 is downloaded and installed, I'm just waiting for the additional game data to install.

EDIT: ABS at 1, Traction Control and everything else Off, Steering Sensitivity at 7 feels very good. Golding License test B-10 on my first try felt great!

Well done!

Hey guys, wanna get this game for Christmas to complement my new 50" plasma and 5.1 setup. Any recommended wheels/ pedals, etc. I havent played a racing game since gt3, haha. I am absolute noob in this stuff, so something not super expensive but of good quality would be great. Thanks guys!

Any Logitech product would be sufficient. Either the G25 or G27. Going cheap these days..

Wow, these g series ones are quite...expensive. I assume i should just bite the bullet on those ones? I guess theres no reason to go cheap and just have to rebuy them again?

Expensive?

I don't know what your budget is but I can buy a G25 down here in AUS for around $120..

You're better off buying one of these to get the full experience. Really worth it imo..

I found this steering wheel comparison guide very helpful. Personally, I'm leaning toward the Logitech Driving Force GT because it is compatible with PS2, PS3, and PC.

Well done!

Thank you! I am playing with the driving line hidden and putting effort toward earning gold medals so I learn the most. I never earned a License test gold in GT3 but earned a few in GT4. I plan on reading the in-game manual today and will attempt to completely gold the B License before starting License A (Side note: Am I remembering incorrectly or did previous GT games have a Rally License?). For now, I will stick to automatic transmission as I cannot even drive manual in real life =/. This game feels great with a controller, though. The internal view including animated hands & steering wheel is so cool! Car damage is another great inclusion, and I love how the variations on No Damage, Low Damage, and Heavy Damage are handled. Arcade mode offers a great selection of cars out of the box, too. I played a split-screen match to earn the Arch Rivals trophy and split-screen is lag-less! I guess I should start leveling a B-Spec driver. Hopefully the manual details how B-Spec works. I drove all the GT3 endurance races myself (after rubber-banding the oval, then trouncing the rest with my acquired F1 car =P).

One question guys.

Does GT5 have music? Like, do they have their own song selection on there? Or do you have to put on your own?

Why does PD keep the sexy photomode locations for themselves?

corvette20121102_hdgwzxc.jpg

I'd probably pay a few dollars to get access to that. Come at me Kaz.

Mikey Jr. - the game has tons of licensed music. Menus have a massive collection of awesome lounge/porno jazz and the rac bgm consists of everything from rock to electonic music.

I'm assuming the C7 doesn't have an interior view?

Depends on weather they whether Chevrolet wants to reveal it or not.

*edit* Lol, its in the trailer. Also covered.

Why does PD keep the sexy photomode locations for themselves?

Seriously... some of them are already in the game, all properly modelled (Harbor, Top Gear Studio, Race Track garage, Wind Tunnel, etc) , and we can't use it... makes no sense.

For weeks now, members of GTplanet and PlayStation.Blog have been speculating about the mysterious appearance of a camouflaged Corvette C7 appearing in Gran Turismo 5‘s screen saver.

Well, the rumors are true – officially announced today at the LA Auto Show, Chevrolet and Polyphony Digital have been working very closely for months in developing an exclusive first-hand driving experience by offering a camouflaged Corvette C7 Test Prototype in Gran Turismo 5. The DLC is now available for free through PlayStation Store.

Now you can also be part of that exclusive experience by heading over to PlayStation Store and downloading the exclusive Corvette C7 Test Prototype, then taking it to the track in Gran Turismo 5. Be sure to share your best lap time on the Nurburgring Nordschleife through Corvette’s Facebook page.

Kind of surprised that PD seems to have such a good relationship with a US car manufacturer.

GT6. lol :(

Seriously though, PD didn't even release 1 photo location for dlc. (nascar thing doesnt count).
Bonkers.

Only one of many. This particular "dyno scene" (just imagine a working dyno for checking yours car current stats at GT Auto from some amount of Cr), then "wind tunnel", then "warehouse" from pre-game multicar sequence, all "pit garages" from GT5:p tracks, "Nurb 24H garage" that exist in the trailers, "dim smoke" location from official car photos, "Red Bull garage" from Vettel challenges (where is our celebrational 2012 car Kaz?), "white room" from Dealership sequences... and all of those fabulous GT5:p locations that never got actually transferred to GT5 just to name those I remember from my head.. and there is probably more.

Wow, alright. Thanks guys, sounds awesome.

It actually does sound awesome. GT5 has the best produced in-game music I have ever witnessed in any video-game. I do not have superior 7.1 PCM setup, but I have pretty decent 5.1 surround and every song has mindblowing production values. It sounds even better than any of my 5.1 SACDs including even Lang Lang ones :)

Looks more like its intentionally covered, like the rest of the car.

Apparently it is, some guy at GTP used some Photomode glitch and "confirmed" there are parts of the dashboard visible beneath the covers, as well as some chassis under the fabrics.

Kind of surprised that PD seems to have such a good relationship with a US car manufacturer.

Well, Chevrolet is in the GT series from the very first game (Chevrolet, Didge and TVR are the 3 non-Japanese manufacturers that are in the every major GT release from 1997) and as I've heard this is just a part of some rumored major deal between GM as company and PS/Sony for the future.

Seriously though, PD didn't even release 1 photo location for dlc. (nascar thing doesnt count).Bonkers.

Even more Bonkers is total exclusion of all GT4 PhotoLocations. I've visited GT4 recently during some of my fact-compilation work and was amazed with actual quality of details in all GT4 photo locations. I can't understand they just decided to leave them out because each and every one is so damn beautiful:

(US) BEACON HILL, (US) BROOKLYN, (JP) FISH MARKET, (JP) GION, (US) GRAND CANYON, (US) LAS VEGAS, (JP) MARUNOUCHI, (JP) NANZENJI, (IT) PIAZZA SAN MARCO, (IT) PONTE DI RIALTO, (JP) SAGANO, (JP) SHIBUYA, (JP) TOGAKUSHI KOGEN, (US) TIMES SQUARE, (JP) TSUMAGO.. Bonkers.

For sake of good old times:

They probably could have used some old assets from those locations as well.

I think the GM/Sony partnership is interesting. The current way content is licensed is rather old fashioned. I would not be surprised if we see more companies try to get a range of cars in games like gt as a package and then tailor experiences in the game to go with these content packages.

I also just remembered that Chevrolet was the company that loaned Kaz a brand new ZR1 a few years ago when he attended the Concours d'Elegance. He was driving it in one of the GT PSP docs.

GT5P locations would be more than enough for me. I'm willing to buy them all, and for a high price.

That Nascar pit stop scene was pure trolling.

DL'd the vette but haven't tried it yet. I played GT for about 2 hours today, more than the previous 3 months combined I think. I <3 the BRZ! I know it's not really different than the FRS or 86 but it's a Subaru so, yes it is better. :p

I miss seeing the odometer in the bumper cam view. #thelittlethings

This DTM gem popped up on the user dealership, so I had to try it around the natural habitat.

This caught my attention as awesome:

I finally own the game; picked up the XL version for 10 bucks on Amazon. Man I'm so excited to play it. I'm typically not into racing games but GT always breaks me in. I'm dying for a copy of the soundtrack. Some of the music...is just so amazing.

Photo locations are old hat. Gimme a way to set and position cameras so I can record footage from any angle I want in replays. Maybe even make a separate mode where you can drop your car at any location on a track and setup a camera and then drive. Then we could have fan made videos of similar style to what PD outputs in their trailers.

Got a new GT video I'm uploading atm, it's not another racing trailer or anything just something that I stumbled into doing after playing some GT5 over the weekend.

Here is a little teaser.

I ventured into B-Spec mode and my driver is not doing so well. I selected a 100% cool-headed driver with great starting braking, cornering, and mental strength figuring with a good car he would take the lead early and hold it until the finish. Instead, he does the complete opposite. I watched him lose the Sunday Cup because he was too timid to overtake cars braking early into turns. Telling him to increase his pace and overtake does little. He'll start to slipstream then attempt to pass somebody, but as they brake going into a turn he does the same. That's the time for him to slip past them!

I started the Amateur Series NR Roadster event (basically Mazda Miata's only) and gave him a Roadster TC to drive. I decimated the competition in A-Spec and figured he would have no problems. Watching the first 5 laps, my driver builds a significant lead with no instruction from me. A few minutes later, I return to find him in 3rd place with a five-second deficit. As I frantically tell him to overtake, he still continues to coddle the car around corners and never challenge the cars in front of him.

Was making a completely cool-headed driver a mistake? I have only completed about ten events with him. Should I create a hot-headed driver and hope with a superior car he will be able to win uninstructed? B-Spec offers great prize cars and money so I have more motivation for playing the mode than trophies, but working toward reaching a driver's career peak involves commitment. I would like to earn all B-Spec trophies with a single driver.

You'll probably have to baby sit him and when he gets a lead keep an eye on the gap with the other cars and tell him to up his pace if he starts to slow down. Driver get calm because of a big lead and they tend to relax and slow down.

AI is pretty lame in GT from my experience. It seems like they never defend and the off chance they attack is like 1 in a million.

New video is up hope you guys enjoy.

So new TV. 3d Mode. GT5 is my first 3d gaming experience.... and I don't think I like it. It's interesting for cockpit driving, but for bumber cam is is just weird.

Awesome! How long did it took to make it?
I will be happy if PD just includes the "export to youtube" option in GT6. Thats all I want.. or at least export to disk or something. NRL would largely benefit from that option!

I still think Photo Locations are relevant.
I mean, its where you can see the cars at their very best.
I'd like them to add a photo shoot room.... White walls around and you have control on the lighting.

I started it over the weekend so just a day or two. Glad you like it.

Export to youtube and stuff like that is always compressed to hell, but if they could get it right then sure. An option to remove the HUD in all modes inc photo mode would be nice.

Man I'd love to try GT5 in 3D. The 3rd turn at La Sarthe is always hard to spot for me and every time I'm on it I wonder how helpful it would be to be able to gauge the distance in 3D. How are the rain effects in 3D?

Have a new TV coming....will be able to try that out, totally forgot about it.

I don't really care for 3D or the fact that the TV has it, but it should be interesting to play with some things. I'll have to see what it does for GT5

How to B-Spec?

Although I will always recommend you the great write-ups by Andrew (Famine) on GTP Forum, majority of his advices will be great for the later part of your B-Spec endeavour.

At the beginning - until you reach last 2 tiers of races, Expert (?) and Endurance - there are only few points you have to take into concern and this guy on GameFaqs did a good job:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/941103-gran-turismo-5/57378570

Read this and you're ready to go.

I love B-Spec BTW and I really think it is a great part of GT5.

EDIT:- Just came across this video of PD back in the GT1 days. Even back then they were sleeping in the office.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6aEEICPIfA8

How things have changed :p

Kaz pointed out in a Making of GT3 video that he didn't go home for the final 4 months of GT3's development. He ended up bringing his bed from home into work.

One of them any reasons why it annoys me to see people suggesting that Sony should take the series away from Kaz.
