Halo 4 |OT2| TURBO

It's an ongoing process, but certainly I think really old school fans of stuff like the early Nylund novels, and deep "never before exposed to the public but known about in Halo nerd circles) will genuinely embrace some of the stuff we have planned for the future.

Hm.

Please tell me that this is about porn and/or gratuitous nudity.

I can imagine that... The Chief sees a monitor, is pissed off as he thinks it is Spark, and then we hear Johnson saying something like he usually says.

"I thought you'd be taller."

Speaking of which, I heard this said in Son of Batman when Damian (Batman's son) met Batman for the first time.. almost barfed.
What if they made him into a AI like Cortana?

lmfao This would actually be badass. "Go there and blast those MOTHER F-beeep-!"

That would be brilliant, though i guess Johnson's advice and commentary might be distracting for the Chief.
The sweet William cigar dangling from its carapace was a dead giveaway.

Reminds me of that elkor store owner in Mass Effect 2.

Dark theme why you leave us? :{

After watching old Bungie Developer Commentaries on Halo 1 and 2, it makes me want 343 to do the same with Halo 4. Would give some insight on the design process and tricks that went into each scene.

I can confirm he is more or less talking out of his ass, or by proxy talking out of his "source's." I am not confirming or denying anything specific, just confirming that he has no special insight or information.
Thanks for confirming Frankie

Oh and offtopic: towards FB Gaf. MobilGaf Works now you scrubs.

Of course the idea of unleashing your Johnson as a super weapon is pretty attractive.

God damn that Spartan Laser is ugly. I'll save my "DO THEY HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING" comment for official confirmation. But still. Ew

Okay, first person view is alright... but side on?

If there's a Spartan Laser in Halo 2's campaign I will cry.

I think it's pretty cool actually, but it's from the artist's personal reel, from before he was hired.

Tell that to the Covenant.

For what it's worth I prefer Halo 3s Spartan laser, I think less detail is better. Its bulky, almost block appearance immediately conveyed to me when first playing 3 that it was a power weapon.

I think that Splaser is way cooler than the one in the games. Looks like something a human military might build.

Yeah I feel the same way. Would prefer it a bit more "green" but I like it for some reason. Very industrial and heavy duty looking. Not really clean or sterile, not too futuristic. Goes back to that gritty, UNSC/humanity bootstrap weapon development look.

Not that I disagree with your entire sentiment on visual retcons, but I cannot see any reason why the exterior of the Dawn had to be changed beyond "we can get Megbloks to sell another toy". In the actual game you basically only had three shots of it.

I felt the Dawn being changed was almost inevitable, considering tech upgrades. It was more or less a giant box attached to boxes. The cheating solution would have been to never do a wide shot of it.

The one that bugs me more is the Chief. They had a perfect opportunity to finally have an in-game upgrade of his armor - let him run around with the Halo 2/3 armor for the first couple of missions, then the Infinity has an upgraded Mjolnir suit and he gets in it when he finds the Infinity.

Instead, he just gets nanonmachined to having a new suit in place.

Of course, the reality of this is more than likely that making two principal-level models Master Chiefs for one game is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, so you get the time and budget for one and explain the change with "nanomachines, son"

You tease blue team so good, stop I'm getting feelings.

Blech, for a main title, I hope not.

Though Frankie, a spin-off title more in the line of ODST would be great. Like a Halo 5 ODST, as I've mentioned before.
Really? I like the open-yet-linear feel that halo has had, but I wouldn't mind at all being able to go from open world to open world to progress the story. I mean, I know destiny is like that, but I could picture it working with halo. Either way I need some h2a or h5 in my veins!

So much potential for spinoffs with all of Halos EU.

I would pay so much for a Dead Space like survival horror of The Mona Lisa story, or even a more alien setting of a surviving Elite/Brute trying to escape a Flood ravaged High Charity.

Open world is a completely different animal than linear levels, which are part of what made Halo famous. I would love some Open world Halo, but if you replace it, you lose something great.

Open world is not "better" than linear levels. Just different. If you replace one with the other, you lose something awesome.

I don't mean to be overly negative. But yeah like others said it just looks like an older model which would be pretty... irritating... to see in future sequel games. At least to me anyway. Reminds me of something you'd see in Halo Wars (which isn't a bad thing considering the timeline) *shrugs*

But now that I know what it is, I agree that it's very cool.

That doesnt address the issue. Nothing is fun when there's nothing to do ya knucklehead!
Heh, I also think with them pushing cloud computing and plus the power of x1 versus 360, the open world would be way bigger than ODST. I'm not saying that's how it has to be, I'm saying I think it has the possibility to be great. As long as it is done correctly, like everything else. Some of Reach's levels felt really big, and I really wouldn't mind that direction either.

What about single player starting to have optional and campaign affecting objectives? I was thinking of it a lot since Reach. Like there was an achievement to kill a zealot before he escaped.

Obviously it won't affect anything too major where the campaigns fluctuate wildly. But say in one mission, if you choose to, the orders are from Infinity to also see if you can cripple Covenant vehicles, or as you are traversing, your AI/Cortana tells you about something. Now this means that during your run through of the campaign, you can largely avoid this altogether, but it means in a later mission, there will be more ghosts or banshee than normal. Stuff like that. Does that make a little sense? Halo campaign has usually been get from A to B, either run through, or kill everything on your way through. But if there are more open world scenarios, would something like this work? Would it be something you guys would want?

For example, in one mission, you see Elite generals standing around before you come, sniping them now would mean more grunts/jackal troops you attract then to where you are, but you could avoid having to face these elites in an enclosed room later.

I don't think "linear" in Caladrius' sense of the word means halo 4 or halo 2 levels of linear. I think he's saying a point-a-to-point-b campaign mission, such as those we've seen in Halo (CE level) or even in Spartan Ops, is a completely different beast compared to a have-it-your-way hub-styled world such as the one we saw in ODST.
