K-Pop Fanboy/Fangirl |OT6| Thank You for Love

I have the feeling no one here stans Seo In Young? She is my ultimate queen tbh.
She released a single this week, a fairly classic ballad with a rap feature. It's pretty nice. Better than the mini she released earlier this year, the track she promoted felt a bit too cookie cutter k-pop tho the performances were fierce (it also features Kanto). Oh well, I just rly love her. Her most iconic track is Anymore. Released after she left Star Empire (thank God) (Praying for our muses and part of ZE:A tho)

She's everything you wish you could be. The OG fierce bitch.
She's had a career since 2002 (with Jewelry), has had about 12 different noses and is still going strong. Luv her.

Seo In Young wasn't even the best in 2nd Gen Jewelry.

It feels like yesterday that Wonder Bang were the hottest things around. I remember living for performances like these back in my fanboy days.

So good.

If Music Bank and YG played nice, we could have potentially had another stage. The first listed acts of the 800th show is looking like it's straight outta that era.

Super Junior
SNSD
Wonder Girls

What is up with that btw?

Seungri pissed in the directors coffee didn't he? Smh...

Nothing wrong with a strong woman. She probably works out and keeps herself in good shape.

True but that's probably not it. I'm pretty sure that's a curse stemming from the valley... besides that horrible accent of course.

Edit: I just realized why Sunmi was never on my radar.

Her purple hair looked fncking terrible during her solo stint. Reminded me a lot of Sunny's terrible hair from IGAB I think. Yuck.

But now though... good grief. She's slowly surpassing Yeeun, but still far from Yubin but we'll see the longer the promos go for IFY.

"Ghost" so good, plus the way the visuals are shot and framed perfectly fit the feel of the song. It's top tier Spica, and at its release, the best song they had recorded in years. Shame it never had real promo.

Second listen to T-ara "So Crazy," but this time with decent speakers. People are overly harsh on this song. Nothing ground breaking; just simple, good fun. Soyeon chorus is easily the best part, blending into Eunjung (the chorus feels like a T-ara song). Jiyeon ok and Boram's under-utilised vocals make an appearance. For me, T-ara raps are largely forgettable. I don't tend to hold it against them. Similarly, I don't expect them to replicate their peak output anymore than I expect SNSD to ever match the quality of their First Japanese Album... in any language. Not providing an excuse for mediocrity, as I don't think this song is bad.

Golden Age Seo has been the most consistent Soshi this year.

It's good but the majority of the tracks were already released.

This would have blown my mind if it were all released as new material on a full length. As it is it's like "Okay, cool, nice to have all these tracks compiled on one album now."

Yeah, but I don't think that really takes away from how good the complete album is.

Agreed.

Every previous release has been fantastic even the b-sides so while 80% of it's "old" you can't deny that from start to finish is probably fantastic. And I say probably coz it ain't out yet on iTunes or anywhere else. :(

One thing I'm really surprised is how fantastic Just Like U is. I was ready to hate it coz extremely fake-ass ghetto valley girl Jessi is on the track and that intro with all the cussing is indeed horrible, but that beat is fantastic and the chorus is chill. It also helps that Jessi's rap is actually about something instead of herself trying to prove she's tough shit like in every track she's done so I like it. Seriously, JYP's Who's Your Mama is a fncking great song but terrible since the rap is about her instead of something else.

Also, Ramyeon, let us know if there's a signed version of the CD or whatever. I'm extremely jelly about Jane Jang's signed CD lolol.

SsamD never disappoints, well his flow anyway. The beat is subpar and that hook is kinda terrible tbh.

Guess that's what happens when your chick leaves you for a nerd haha.

That was less of a comment on the album's quality and more of a comment on the way most mainstream music is released in Korea these days. I would have loved to have been blown away by this album by hearing every song for the first time as a complete package, but instead it's been staggered over the past year and released as 3 mini albums and then a complete package with 4 new songs on it. What's there is great - but the impact would have been so much greater if it had just come out complete to begin with. I understand the reasons for releasing this way, and it's pretty much common practice now but I'm still not a fan of it.

Ah I see what you mean now.

I think it's a double edged sword tbh. It's nice hearing a new Primary track every month, but at the same time, I do agree that it would've blown the doors wide open if he just dropped this out of nowhere.

Oh well. At least we get good music lol.

Anyway, here's qt 3.14 rapper Kisum turning into an iljin thug lol.

Yeah, I'm just much more of a fan of groups/artists disappearing for a year or two and coming back with a bunch of new material at once. I've always been the type to sit down and listen to albums start to end as opposed to listening to individual tracks or shuffled playlists so digital singles and mini albums always feel a bit lacking to me.

Kpop used to be great for this until the mid to late 00s really. It'd be great when groups would have a comeback after quite a long time and you'd have a whole new album of material to tide you over until they next showed up with a full length. It makes sense from a business standpoint to push out new material in the form of digital singles and minis as often as possible these days thanks to the transient nature of the industry and digital distribution.

Primary did this with Primary and the Messengers LP but that definitely felt more substantial with 2 discs anyway. I'm just nitpicking anyway, I'm glad it's all compiled in one track list now.

So that's where you get them signed CD's... thanks!

IIRC, more than half of the tracks in the Messengers weren't released as singles, just a couple. But the whole thing was pretty varied and there didn't seem to be a real flow to it. Of course I could be mis-remembering as I haven't really sat through it in a while.

Anyway, out of all the new tracks in this, Gold Finger is my favorite one. It's so simplistic and chill, then the sound and texture of Suran's voice just takes it up on another level.

It's hilarious how they accidentally placed themselves in a "Skill at dancing 24 Hours" row at first. Hyerim is 1st, really awkward and struggles. Yubin looks a bit like "What am I doing here?" but gets into it, and Yenny of course, nails it with a huge smile.

Also these girls are hilariously photogenic. They are all...perfect. Hyerim is perfect. Sunmi is perfect. Yubin is perfect. Yenny is perfect. It's...like a wall of perfection.

feist, you are a scholar and a gentleman.

"Goldfinger" sticks out on the "2" album with its different sound, and I figured it was Primary making another song to build off "Awoo"s good feedback, but it turns out is was kinda the other way around.

Interview with Primary and Suran
Lim Kim’s “Awoo,” which you two wrote and produced, went viral on Reddit and has seen some love in the western press. How’d that one come about?

Primary: [The head of Lim Kim’s label] Yoon Jongshin wanted a song, so I sent him an email. But I attached the wrong file, sending a song we’d made for my album, called “Goldfinger.” Just a complete accident. But Yoon liked it, so when he figured out what happened, he said, “Make me something like that.” So we wrote something similar, and that became “Awoo.” [“Goldfinger”] is more intense, kind of a new vibe. We thought we’d found something new, [but turns out] we were able to make something similar.

And I wasn't aware Suran co-wrote some of the songs (Mannequin, Awoo, Don't Be Shy)

And damn, I really feel bad for Hyelim, she is SO out of place most of the times. You can tell she has really low confidence in herself during the stages and everything. Or maybe is just that the other 3 are BEASTS.

Is it just me or did Lim suddenly become cute during the Reboot promotions?
