Then Nojima is not as great as I thought he was. I thought Toriyama wrote and directed X-2.Nojima wrote this new material, yes.

Wow, somebody actually noticed! ^^
Also (more special credits spoilers):EDIT: Some pictures.Yuna breaks up with Tidus and one of the new characters is Auron's daughter.
He was never THAT great. As others have said, he's hit or miss. He can do some good things(and he's a helluva lot better writer than Toriyama and Watanabe), but he isn't immaculate. Then Nojima is not as great as I thought he was. I thought Toriyama wrote and directed X-2.
no, no, no...sigh noSpecial credits spoiler:Sin is back. Somehow.
Toriyama is probably responsible for the shitty stuff in this, like say he has all theseideas and Nojima can do nothing else but include those elements into the story and try to make it work. There's still a big enough possibility FFXV's story will be mostly fine because Nomura has said it doesn't focus on romance and the story doesn't have stuff likeAuron's daughter, Sin is back, Tidus-Yuna-some third wheel Jdrama BSSin who could even come back for some stupid as hell reasons.
That is, FFXV doesn't have the backage of an already established world and a history of events like the destruction of Sin NOT TO EVEN MENTION that, more importantly, the setting and basic premise itself seems to make a lot more sense (it's a world of nations at war, politics & scheming instead of giant monsters who are actually fathers of the main characters and whatnot).

Nojima isn't the best writer, sure, but he can usually write some decent stuff, especially if he's not bogged down by having to retcon old stuff and isn't paired down with Toriyama. As I said in my earlier post, I'm sure it's Toriyama who came up with all the shitty story concepts even if Nojima actually wrote the end product. I mean, I'm certain not even some of the best writers in the world could make Toriyama's worst ideas work. It's kind of like Call of Duty in a sense. They get all these big name hollywood writers yet the stories are still shit. Same goes for Toriyama, except he's dealing with a fantasy world so he knows no limits for his stupidity. Then Nojima is not as great as I thought he was. I thought Toriyama wrote and directed X-2.

Going by that summary:
This is based on literally nothing. We don't know who wrote this. Your posts are usually better than this.
Let's maybe stick to blaming Toriyama for things we can actually confirm he's done.
Yes we do. Nojima wrote this, according to Square.
That said, I think Famassu is right. Nojima isn't the best, but compared to his resume? This isn't a dip in quality, it's a nose dive.
Like I said earlier in the thread, I wouldn't be surprised to learn Toriyama is a co-author. He's already worked on FFX, directed X-2, and now he's coming off of the "successful" Lightning trilogy. So if he feels like he has something good or interesting (LOL) to say with FFX's world/characters, what's Nojima gonna do, say no? Toriyama is even on the series quality committee or whatever and isn't a freelancer like Nojima.
FFX-3 spoiler:Tidus and Yuna end up back together!
It's so obvious.
Totally unrelated:
Vincent Hamm is credited in the game's Special Thanks section. He is the guy who created an FFX and X-2 Model Viewer way back when. Looks like Square Enix used this fan program during development of this remake. That's pretty cool.
Toriyama isn't good when it comes to story, even if he is somewhat capable as a game director (his games can be fun to play). He always takes stories into completely ridiculous directions. This is based on literally nothing. We don't know who wrote this. Your posts are usually better than this.

2 years. Is there any indication of how long after X-2 X-2.5 takes place?
I knew of three. XV, another one which had a concept demo showcasing summons and traversal involving them and what I initially called FFXVI but now refer to as just another FF, and finally FF7. The middle one is what I assumed to be FFXVI or the next FF project beyond XV. This one comes out of nowhere. These spoilers are very detailed though. I'm hoping this is mobile, because if it's not, that means there is no FFXVI at the moment. There's no way SE can be doing this many big FF projects.
People are insane to think this will be a major FF title. At best it will be handheld reusing X HD assets.
Come on guys get it together.SE won't waste so much resources on necromancy sequels.

Lightning Returns.
Kazushige Nojima is and has always been the lead writer on XV. He wrote X, X-2, X-2.5, and it stands to strong reason he'll write X-3. Not sure where this "completely different writing team" stuff is coming from. You have the same guy setting the tone and making the big plot decisions for both projects.
Also what is this implying?
Not only that, Square Enix wasted a shitload of resources on the FFVII Compliation, how many years after FFVII's release? I wouldn't put it past Square Enix one bit that they'd be ABOVE the whole necromancy thing. It's clear they aren't above ANYTHING.
Hell, it's even more interesting that they didn't even finish the Compilation of FFVII.
Well, I'd wager the success (or lack of) of Lightning Returns would be pretty important in their decision whether they'll greenlight any kind of X-3 or not, considering it would likely be a Toriyama lead project and considering how cancellation happy SQEX has been in the last 2-3 years, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to can any kind of X-3 if/when LR fails to sell worldwide and if they read a lot of negative feedback of the X-3 set up of X | X-2 HD's epilogue thing.Yeah, on the contrary: People are insane if they think this won't be a major project.
Wouldn't surprise me of the budget was neutered like LR though.

It's the whole opening of the can of worms that Square's so good at doing. With FFVII's Compilation, from what I recall is left...Hell, it's even more interesting that they didn't even finish the Compilation of FFVII.
This piece of crap better not be the other FF game we're supposed to be getting this generation. That would be a huge disappointment. I refuse to believe.
The "other FF game"? Don't tell me you knew about this "other" game, too. It's a little hard to believe considering how off-the-wall this is.
Man are they milking themselves dry.

Just fckin done with FFXV already .
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's back up here. Are you saying FF7 remake is in the works for this gen??

I'd rather play an FFX game where you play as Jecht and follow Auron and Yuna's father for their passage.

Please, guys, that would be the logical thing to do.

You mean Agni's Philosophy, which I'm pretty sure was just a Tech Demo made by SE to show off their game engine.
