that last one isn't so bad, but shadows on the front-protruding part of face is always gonna be sinister.

I thought those were the most obvious faces just to illustrate that it wasn't just expressions that were creepy, but there are some more stark faces in that chapter that also convey a similar idea. I think the last one just gives a good sense of the mother's menacing figure over the playing children. It's the go-to for, say, showing the power of an enemy relative to the protagonists in a shounen manga, but it's a little more subtle here and gives more a sense of unease and foreboding over portraying an imbalanced relationship.

Koe no Katachi 1-END

That was good. I didn't think there needed to be romantic closure for any of the characters when the story felt less about that and more about Ishida reconciling his past and learning how to deal with others in the face of it. It was interesting to see how few thoughts and dialogue we actually get directly from Nishimiya, so we're left to almost entirely understand her character through the interpretations of other characters.

Most of the supporting cast felt very exaggerated in character, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing here. Most of them come across as kind of unlikable, but the most unlikable traits they have are also the most relatable, and I think that's what made them work. I certainly didn't feel like they came across as particularly unrealistic, just sort of distilled.

A Priest's Journey in a RPG World is pretty good:
Can confirm. I had no idea this was by the Tomo-chan author.

I debated about whether sharing this one or not, lol.

If it's any consolation, another Mayu doujinshi by Kirintei got translated, about how yanderes share things.

You can always count on these two!

Oh boy, they started a cult.

Still too soon for her to relax.

Must be tough being bombarded by such tempting situations.

Fire force vol.2

A really cool volume! Really liked how they put what I suppose is the first real threat of Fire force, the special forces themselves, to the front this volume. That masochist woman tho...

The best part of the manga though was all the Shinra fights against both the Joker and the infernal. It had sooooo many good action shots. Shinra's fighting style is really well demonstrated here. Other

The other big point I liked a lot is the character dynamic here. The moments with Arthur are always super funny. Maki and the lieutenant always make for great fun and impactful moments with how they interact with the rest of compagny 8. Shinra defending the kid and standing up to compagny 5 were also great highlights and it really shows us that he values his justice. SHINRIDER KICK!!! That made me have an attack of cuteness.

Really loved that one double page that showed us that company 8 got each others back.

In conclusion I'm looking forward to next volume! This is a really great manga so far. Superb artstyle too.

BTW Shinra is hot stuff, I need more of him.

Alice in borderland end
Well, i'll be honest here. I don't like the ending and it didn't really answer the origin of borderland or how the previous player come to that world.

Okay, now that the bad is out of its way, lets get to the good stuff

Alice in borderland feature quite a lot of characters. Author manage to juggle them well and most of the characters was interesting. Author put on emphasize on how the character growth and how they handle the trauma that come from being involved in a deadly game quite well.

As far as survival game goes, this one is a lot more interesting than say 'as the god wills' or 'real account' 2nd half. So no problem on the game sides

Minus the anti climatic ending, this is a good death game manga that has good focus on character growth with lot of interesting game.

Turned into a Breast Milk Fountain by a Beautiful Vampire (Part 2) (NSFW)
Sometimes a little affectionate mindbreaking can be the breast development for a relationship. And let's face it, anyone who doesn't want to protect that smile doesn't have a mind worth preserving. IIRC the interloper is someone from Ashton's past, so the reunion is going to be awkward as hell. The odds of him successfully interfering with the OTP are minimal, to say the least.

If it's any consolation, another Mayu doujinshi by Kirintei got translated, about how yanderes share things.
It wasn't! Leaving Mayu aside, Sachiko is for wholesome bullying and not for lewding.

What do you have against a little bit of guro from the maker of the school live donjon Friends?!
It's icky, gross and not even accurate to the game! I'm not exactly adverse to viscera in manga, but stuff like that is waaay over the line.

Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro vol.4 Omake

Chio is such a good influence.

Who is Sachiko? There only was Mayu, for Mayu is the only one in the Producer's mind!

Shingeki #91

Can't tell if I'm lost because I don't care much anymore or it's genuinely confusing.

it's a mixture of both for me

i'm sure I read (a couple years ago) a few interviews where the mangaka said he wanted it to end by a certain volume count that was a couple years off at that point, but with recent developments it wouldn't surprise me if SnK runs for another 50-90 chapters.

Anyone know the name of the doujin this image belongs to? Where does it rank on the wholesome/"not fucked up" scale (I have no qualms with fanservice, I just don't want to run face fist into gross stuff)?

It's called "Overtime!", and yeah, it's porn stuff. Or that's what my friend told me :v

Welcome to the Ballroom 45

Gaju is awaking in me some feelings that...

Long chapter, and with art as good as ever. This one is very focused on the sport, on the technical side and differences between competitors, and in special in Kugimiya.

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
The Promised Neverland ch. 30

Goddamn, these cliffhangers though.

Not gonna take a guess at what he saw, but I don't think he's about to become a snack. I think they have something else in store for him.

Hakumei & Mikochi (caught up)

Been reading this for a long time but I finally caught up. Bit of a bummer I'll have to wait now... Anyway this was great, every chapter was spot on. I can't not recommend this to anyone (but I already wrote a lot about what I like about it a while ago so not much to say)

Dungeon Meshi 17

Really neat flashback, I'm definitely interested in seeing more like that. Hopefully for Chilchak next.

Helck 20-21

This chapter they finally went all-in with the worldbuilding, I'm getting into it a lot now with all the maps and stuff. There's so much setup, mountains of setup.

Gonna apply the trust worthy "no death scene, no death" rule to this one.
There's zero chance Norman is dead.

Kimetsu No Yaiba ~30

I'm warming up to The traveling companions, they have a good dynamic and fun quirks that makes the action more dynamic. The more I read this the saltier I am viz passed over this while picking up dead to rights series like red sprite.

So the Bookscan Top 750 Graphic Novel numbers for 2016 are out. These measure manga sales in bookstores in the United States (so it excludes the direct market, but includes Amazon).

One thing I did notice is that Kuroko's Basketball bombed, which should put to rest any notion of sports manga potentially selling well here except in exceptional cases, which I thought Kuroko could potentially be. (Haikyu!! did fine thankfully) Kuroko did not even chart in the Top 750, meaning it did <4K sales for Vol. 1, which is abysmal for the first volume of a Shonen Jump series, and particularly for one that seemed to have an actual fandom and a popular anime adaption. For context's sake, it got outsold last year by Black Butler Vol. 23, which was only out for one month.

Well I think that in Kuroko's case, the fact that they waited that the manga was finished and that the hype around the anime vanished, really did not help them.

Any other cool info? a link? How did Welcome to the Ballroom do?

That's true; but the problem is that Kuroko sold badly even compared to series with no anime adaption at all. It got outsold likely by at least a thousand by the first volume of Honey So Sweet, which is a slice of life shojo romance series with no anime and no real hype online or otherwise behind it (granted, this series had 7 months in hand on Kuroko, but no way that the first volume of a shonen jump series much less one with a popular anime should be getting beat by a shojo series with no anime.

The full chart is here, it takes some sifting to get through http://www.comicsbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Bookscan-16-Top-750_sheet.htm

Ballroom didn't chart, so it did <4,000. It'll likely do quite better after its anime airs.

kuroko is just a horrible basketball manga thats why it bombed in the land of basketball.

I will forever stanby my word that kuroko is shit, Slam dunk and REAL are the only good ones and the fact that both are written by Takehiko Inoue is telling.

They waited far too long to bring Kuroko over. It should've started releasing volumes around the time the second half of the first anime aired.

Viz was already taking its lumps releasing Eyeshield, Slam Dunk, and Cross Game during that time, which was also when the English manga crash happened. There was no way they were going to bring over Kuroko at that time when sports manga was already selling poorly.

Looking at this list and comparing some numbers; I don't think Kuroko doing low numbers is that surprising. The anime was in 2014 right? Probably really too late, piracy and the like must have damaged it's numbers.

Cool list though, no real surprise there.

8 instances of Seraph of the End, awesome!!! Even better was >10000 for Seraph of the End v1 and this is three years after it released. Good hold.

Ten Count (Yaoi) made the list too!!!

Also 10033 copies of Naruto v 1!!! New people are still getting engaged in this.

BLack Clover charting too.

Assassination Classroom with a 20000+ too, thats impressive. Viz is glad they gave it a chance.

Mousou Telepathy 185 - 209

Yeah, Nanako doesn't really need to study, though it might depend on how well her classmates studied.

Also, looks like Nanako and Toda are about to have a touching moment.

Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san 53

Looks like there was some slight plot in this chapter. Though it was already obvious, looks like both Kogarashi and Yuuna are into each other, so all the other girls have pretty much no chance.

Those Assassination Classroom Vol. 1 numbers are massive. Time for Jump to get Matsui doing another series.

Orange Vol. 1 also did absolutely huge numbers (16K) relative to its genre

I think the one thing, if anything, that we can glean from the charts is that series with anime adaptions, even old ones, tend to sell exponentially more than series that don't. There are a few series that were successful without an anime yet (Ancient Magus Bride is the one that sticks out most to me, and Punpun is doing relatively well for good word of mouth reasons), but the list is dominated by anime driven properties.
