Do this:
And hit the "Deactivate all" button. After that, just reactivate any remaining systems you have.
Between pre-order refunds resulting in licensing/runtime issues and pre-order cancellations not actually resulting in cancellations, I wouldn't be shocked to learn that Sony CSRs are incapable of reversing permanent account bans due to an oversight in software/database design.
Sony really needs to make two-step authentication happen. I keep hearing about all those FIFA hacks and it makes me fear for my account(s) a little.
There is no way in the world this isn't fixable if he can prove his plight.
These are digital licenses and can be changed as records can be changed in a database. Its exactly the fact that this is digital that makes it something so easy to fix.
I think the PSN ID is the unique key, which is a terrible way to design a database
It cannot be that. I refuse to believe that whoever designed the system did that. Or the team that ok'd the release build didn't make them change it to a GUID long before release.
Its got to be something more complicated than that...right?
I can't believe that Sony can't fix this
I can't believe that it's been 8 years and Sony still can't figure out how to do gamertag changes, which makes stories like this one easier to believe.
Time to start buying physical huh? This is scary.
I buy almost all games digitally for PS4.
Man Sony would be in big trouble if my account was just lost like that.
You just go into the SQL and change the 1 to 0
Microsoft should take advantage of this situation and set the guy up with a free Xbox One. They could spin it by saying their network is more secure, etc.
I am not that surprised they can't undo their own ban. They can't even come up with PSN ID change because of "database architecture" reasons. Anyone who graduated in CS knows it's an awful way to design a database.
this sucks, i tweeted this to @KazHiraiCEO so maybe he will be able to help
This really does seem like a gameshare ban. If so sony has made their stance on the issue clear, gameshare= permanent ban.
If you invest in digital content you deserve what you get. Sony can never take my physical discs. therefore I've protected myself. Digital gamers are at the mercy of their overlords

Sounds like he sold his PS3 and his account, then tried to get it back.
Selling your account is against the TOS so ban.
Ehh, if the ID is a primary key in the database I can understand not being able to change it, unless, by ID you mean your username and not some internal id number
This isn't a problem with the "digital future" as you call it as much as it is a problem with Sony's currently outdated policies. Before the industry goes digital, Sony, MS, and Nintendo need to fix their policies and stances on stuff like this.
He sold his PS3. How can you sell your account and still use it on PS4?
Dat digital future looks so bright doesn't it?
Poor dude.

I am starting to lean this way too. He mentioned it in his video too.
