Ok, I'm a little pissed now. I'm playing Last Light (PS4) and I'm at the part
just past the section where you're in a mine cart and you crash through a wooden barricade where there is a group of people.

I get to a
another mine cart with dead bodies and I go through a doorway
and there are some guys I have to take out. Only thing is that everyone is just standing still, frozen. I shoot at them but they don't react. I can hear them saying "someone is here" or something to that effect yet they don't move.

If I walk up to them and press circle to kill them or square to knock them out, my character goes through the animation but the enemy doesn't react. Then the prompt comes up to loot them then I end up frozen. This problem, in addition to the still low sensitivity from 2033 remaining is souring me on the game.

So many things are right- the graphics, framerate, atmosphere. But like another poster mentioned the gameplay isn't sitting too well with me. Which is a shame because I was really hyped for this set. :/

*edit* Nevermind, I reloaded the section and it played out well. Still think the sensitivity's still too low.

I completed 2033 the other day and I enjoyed it, solid 6.5/10. A lot of little things annoyed me so it could have been better, but i still enjoyed it.
I'm about halfway through Last Light, and I'm absolutely loving it. One of the things that annoyed me in 2033 is that you're (more of the time) following someone around. However I'm currently just past the
church
in Last Light and it's very fun. Walking around on your own is a lot better than following some AI, I absolutely hate that shit.

Question regarding the PS4 version visuals:

Has the perennially existing screen tear on the very top of the display area been addressed?

So with Metro 2033 having some of the improvements of Last Light which is the better game overall? I've already beaten 2033 and just wanna have some opinions. Yes I know I can make my own opinion. Thanks in advance.

it's way better. the UI, stealth mechanics, pacing, , level layout, atmosphere, pretty much everything is improved.

edit: oh, you meant which game is better. hmm, well i like 2033 more overall but Last Light has more interesting segments, if you know what i mean.

Good to know.

I played Last Light first last year and then played 2033 on PC and I came away feeling that Metro 2033 had the better atmosphere but Last Light had the better gameplay.

However, after playing redux and being able to play both games back to back I now feel that Last Light is a better game in pretty much everyway since I was able to pick up all the references from the first game and follow the story much more closely and appreciate the gameplay improvements. While Metro 2033 certainly benefitted from the gameplay improvements it was clear that the original game was designed without those improvements in mind. One criticism of 2033 is that it doesn't do a great job of making us care about the dark ones. I realize the point was to make them mysterious but a little bit of light could have been shed on then as you progressed through the game based on your moral points. However, the final third of the game from the library on is the best sequence in the entire series.

Game score:
2033: 8.5
Last Light: 9

Overall set: 10

So I purchased the game off amazon and thought I would look at this thread, and all the early pages are really negative.
Not about the games but about these new versions.

When I bought it I thought there were just very good impressions, maybe I should have researched more :/

Hmmm... why does my copy of Metro LL Redux look blurry compared to original LL ?

Anyone know exactly how the saves work? (Last Light, PS4)

I'm doing the Kshatriya DLC level, but I'm not real clear on whether I can play any part of the main game or any other DLC without resetting the Kshatriya stuff.

This Kshatriya level is a pretty cool twist, but I'm really annoyed that you don't get at least one filter for free to start each expedition. I'd rather have less pressure, let me explore without being so concerned about turning each trip into a net profit.

Playing any other mission will save over Kshatriya progress.

I almost have my platinum trophy. I just need to get the trophy for hoarding 1000 military grade bullets and "finding the truth."

How do you go about getting the Enlightened trophy? What do you have to do to get all of the morality points?

I have asked before, but are you sure you do not have auto SSAA on? or SSAA 0.5?

That would upsample from half res.

Well, these are my settings in game:
TLdb.jpg

And i know about that 0.5x SSAA thing...
Then i did go to the ini files and there I have found this line : r_ssaa_auto .. and there was a number, now i don't know exactly which number that was, but it was something like this 0.xxxxx .. so of course i did change this number to only 0., and after this I started the game and now the game looks far better without that fucking blur

SSAA on auto defaults the game to use .5. Was your setting oringinally set to auto in the menus? I imagine probably.

No, I had always the option set to OFF... that's why I was so suprise to see that in the ini files I had set it to some random number.. I mean, OFF should set SSAA to 0. and not to 0.xxx.. but anyway, now it's fixed

am in dead city and just reunited with bourban and I think I have a bug.

he says something: there is the bitch!
did you hear that?

but nothing happens.

and why cant I controll the volume ingame with my keyboard?

edit: is there a way, to check my current difficulty setting on PC?

edit 2: played the whole level again.
this time, the demons came and attacked us.
but when the 2 flying ones came, he said I should follow him and then just stood their.

reloaded and again.
then I found the way to go and a little cut scene started.
I jumped up a window and then graped an invincible bourbon and pulled him up to the window.

anyways: next level: did you guys do all this section with full stealth?

and what weapons shoud I pick?

got the arrow gun.
and now I can pick up his AK.

Tak tak tak
Playing for the second time Metro Last Light.

Man, this game is so good. They did a great job

-better graphics than the previous Metro game
-not only better graphics from a new engine, also better art overall. I don't if it was because they gained experience or they have more time and money, but it all looks better, from the monsters to the humans and scenarios.
-Great performance, basically same as Metro 2033 but with a graphical jump.
-Super fast loading times, 3-4 seconds from the main menu.
-Better story, and incidental dialogue setting up the atmosphere perfectly
-Much more usable stealth system (maybe a bit too easy)
-Better gunplay, great sounds, handling and ragdoll impacts, though they still maintain their identity signal, with armored parts that receive much less damage.
-Good variety, the game knows to vary between scripted linear experience with Pavel or another AI escort and you going alone with more freedom, or going from combat setpieces to exploring areas alone, or from metro parts to parts outside with the gas mak, to having a breather in an habited hub; also in the combat parts there is a nice difference between fighting mutants and humans, of course.

Finally beat Metro 2033 Redux after neglecting it for some time.

From what I can tell, I definitly think Metro 2033 Redux and Last Light are drawed together, equally as good

Last Light is a more polished game with less bugs, better graphic, better shooting, Better characters, more hubs.
Sex Scene

Metro 2033 Redux had a better story. Better levels designed to be creepy, (Nothing in Last Light could compare to the Librarian level's), less forced scripted action levels, the game was more challenging as was the stealth and the tower was a waaaay better final level. (
As opposed to Call of Duty: Metro)

Of course this is the Redux version, I'm pretty sure vanilla Last Light is waaaay better than vanilla 2033, but the redux version's I say they're equally drawed thanks to Metro 2033 getting the Last Light engine.

Metro 2033: 9/10
Metro Last Light 9/10

Two astonishing games, that many horror + Shooter fans should play and for $50 bucks its a hell of a deal

not kill people, knock them out if you have to, help people out, like if they're asking for money or surrender to you, explore a lot and find hidden areas, a bunch of different stuff.

am at the part with the librarians and I am doing something wrong.

I know what I am supposed to do and I saw videos of others doing it, but it doesn't work for me.

second one just keeps walking in my direction, I back up and then he starts attacking me.

and when I go into the small room on the left, for some reason, everytime one runs up to me and kills me.

Sounds like you're moving. Stand still when you look them down.

Move slowly, hell don't move at all. If they get SUPER close then back up slowly.

Be sure to keep your sights trained right in-between the eyes!

So after playing Anna's level dlc from Last light and being dissapointed how short it was, gave Kshatriya a go.

Holy hell, this! This is how Metro should be, open worldish,

It gives you exploration while at the same time giving you the survival horror elements, this is amazing,

Just finished 2033 Redux a few days ago and it's one of my GOTY. Man, what an atmosphere, the game totally nails the feeling of being a lonely comando.

I like the last level in M2033, but I think that I like the last mission in LL even more just because of that feel, that you're fighting for the existence of the station, people, etc.. Epic last stand .. that build up for the last scenes was also great.. (that level somewhat reminded a little bit of the level from 2033 - Defense)
And about the horror/survival atmosphere - yes, in LL there isn't a level with such a great horror atmosphere like the Library level, but the DLC mission - Kshatriya I think when it comes to atmosphere is even better than Library level

Yeah, that level is fantastic.. but so are some other DLC missions, like Khan, Pavel, Spider Lair... and surprisingly, I spent a lot of time in the Developer Pack - museum, AI arena & shooting gallery

All that dlc comes with the redux pack?

Can you play it from the start?

In I played 2033 on survival Hardcore, started LL on spartan Hardcore.
Would do you think?

NO.

NO.

NO multiplayer.

Please for the love of god.

you know if they kept the single player quality top notch because that is what the game is about I dont see how multiplayer would harm it. If they had a first persopn multiplyer much like the last of us with scavenging for items, low ammo count, filter swaps, etc. I think it could come out fairly. Nothing fast paced along the lines of cod, more slow like a socom fps or last of us
