We're never getting a Fusion sequel are we.
Or complaining about the Super Guide Blocks in Mario. Then don't use it? It's like complaining about the steering assist in MK8D
I'm glad somebody else is pointing this out, haha.Gameplay wise thats pretty much what other M was.
one of the first things they pointed out in the treehouse thing about it is that it's optional
omg its like when we got Fusion and Prime around the same time :'(
Yeah I was a bit bummed after seeing the trailer and seeing Mercury Steam attached, but the gameplay looks really slick.Catching up on the Treehouse stream and it looks pretty good.
i'm still waiting too really don't want to miss it!Has the Collector's Edition shown up on Amazon yet? The GameStop page isn't loading for me.
Don't have a 3DS. Bummer.
This game doesn't require a New 3DS, right?
They came out on the same day. These games were announced on the same day but will come out two years apart.
Retro isn't making it.Why do you assume Metroid is so far out? Retro hasn't released anything since Tropical Freeze. It could be Holiday 2018.

...Well, then I suppose most game mechanics are optional, really.
Devil Trigger in DMC is optional, God Hand abilities in God Hand, Mushrooms in Mario, Abilities in Kirby, it's all really just optional.
Nope. Regular 3DS or 2DS is fine.
That's a pretty big ask. Resources are finite. And there are still a metric shit ton of 3DS' out in the wild, so it does make some fiscal sense for Nintendo to throw that audience a bone with what, relatively speaking, is a lower budget title than what would be required on Switch.
Are you familiar with the X-Ray Visor from Super Metroid?Oh lord, it's as I feared: They're turning this into a straight-up spectacle action game! We even have super moves now.
Oh god in particular at that one 'Aeion ability'. Unless they're adding in randomly generated levels, radar-ing a 10x10 square on the map is going to trivialize a lot of the exploration and discovery aspect of the game.
Releasing games on dying/dead platforms has generally not worked out for Nintendo though. I feel like releasing something on the hot new platform is a better shot at actual success.

Source on this?Retro isn't making Prime 4.
Don't forget the all important cardboard box.so the special edition is a reverse cover and a 25 track ost?
weak
The game feels fantastic.
As I mentioned before, I did not want to stop playing. The game plays smoothly, the new counter mechanic feels great, and the ability to to scan the environment will hopefully help reduce those moments where you are exploring aimlessly without clear direction.
Yeeeessssss. Please let this game rock.
I wont liethis seemed like sacrilege. Ive certainly fought thousands of matches as Samus in the Super Smash Bros. series over the years, so Im no stranger to slapping people around with my arm cannon, but this was a traditional Metroid gameyou dont smack things. You line them up from a distance and shoot them before they can ram into you or shoot you. But the challenge with this game is that everything is too fast for that to be your only strategy. Enemies spot you from a ways off, and they can close the gap in milliseconds. All of a sudden I was settling into a different grooveblasting far-off enemies with the muscle memory of a thousand Metroid hours, then experiencing the visceral payoff of deflecting some aliens bull rush with a well-timed uppercut and then vaporizing it in a single, screen-rattling shot in the downbeat after the strike. I was in love all over again, and with a different game.
A Link Between Worlds was in-house. But Nintendo is at least producing and doing the music here.
It's a reasonable assumption that Grezzo would have been involved since they worked on every other 3DS Zelda, but it turns out they didn't work on it.I don't know why I thought it was outsourced? But in any case, I think Nintendo will have a tight quality control input over this one.
Thirteen and a half years.
How did it get to that point?
Team Ninja stepped in to work on the project and was selected because the team played off the Nintendo-based team extremely well, bouncing ideas back and forth throughout the development. Sakamoto used a specific instance as an example: he insisted that the game would be an on-rails side-scrolling adventure that used the Wii remote exclusively like an NES/Famicom controller. But Team Ninja really wanted to make it a nunchuk-analog controlling game for 3D foreground/background exploration. Sakamoto stood firm on the Wii remote exclusivity. When the Team Ninja came up with an idea that could incorporate Sakamoto's Wii remote focus into a non-on-rails design, he was skeptical -- but when he finally saw what they came up with, he thought the solution was perfect. They called it "Famicom Game Plus."
Yeah, I remember that. I actually mostly liked Other M, gameplay wise. I always thought it would've been nice to see it used in a more isolated/non-linear Metroid game (sort of like how they made Zero Mission after Fusion).Did you know? Sakamoto's original vision for Other M was actually was going to be a classic 2.5D Metroid game, much like this game.
Problem is, Team Ninja wanted to make a 3D character action game like Ninja Gaiden.

Explains the sideways Wiimote control scheme, doesn't it?
