All-NBA first team: James Harden, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis.

Second team: Curry, IT, Giannis, Durant, and Gobert

Third team: Wall, DeRozan, Butler, Green, DeAndre

No surprises there. Still weird that no Warriors made first team. There are going to be a lot of NBA historians looking at this list years from now wondering how Durrant and Curry were left off. Oh well. Sucks that PG didn't make any of the teams considering he's clearly better than some of those dudes.

No SuperMax for Hayward and George this Summer.

Pippen + Rodman are (arguably) better than any two teammates LeBron has had. Definitely better than the duo in Cleveland though maybe on par with Bosh + Wade. And it's not like Bird and Magic played with scrubs. Yeah, LeBron changed teams, but the 80s Celtics and Lakers had even more Hall of Famers.

And Boston.
Jordan waited 7 years to get a Pippen that was a good player. LeBron just bolted after 7 years and joined the 2nd best sg and top 3 PF in the league.

If dominated everyone so much why did he call up Wade and Bosh to join them instead of go through them?

Because Lebron is always playing in a shit team and has won every single game he's been in by himself. Despite that not being the case for nearly 10 years now. The narrative is always about getting Lebron more help.

Rodman is better than Wade, Bosh, Kyrie and Love?

the Bulls literally won the title in his 7th year. they drafted Pippen in his third year and he was arguably already one of the league's best SFs in his second season (definitely by his third)

e: forgot Jordan's foot was broken in 85-86, not 86-87. they were still mediocre as hell that year, but unlike the Cavs they actually drafted well

As our knowledge of what is important to winning basketball grows, historians will certainly look back and shake their heads at how low efficiency ball-hogging was rewarded.

Other than devaluing the warriors, the first two teams look good. I'd put a number of players from the west above DeRozan and Butler in terms of how good they are but their inclusion isn't undeserved with what is valued for these teams.

Durant got hurt and you can argue Lebron and Kawhi were better this season anyway. Harden and Westbrook were clearly better than Curry this season. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

Green only getting 3rd team and Klay being left out entirely does strike me as odd though.

I'm fine with how the Warriors landed. With Steph's slow start and Harden and Westbrook going off from the jump it's hard to put any other guards on first team.

KD would have been right there with Kawhi for first team, but understandable he wasn't after missing time.

Exactly. Jordan had Pippen and LeBron had no one. Should we diminish Magic, Bird, and Jordan for being lucky enough to have Hall of Famers on their teams? No one wins alone. LeBron wasn't going to waste his career playing with scrubs.

Jordan had Pippen and Horace Grant within 7 years.

Take your pick for LeBron's first run on the Cavs: Jeff McInnis and post-foot-injury Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden, Anderson Varejao and Mo Williams.

In other words, Z and a bunch of career backups. Was he supposed to just stay here for 20 years while Paxson and Ferry kept misfiring on every personnel decision?

Harden unanimously got 1st team with ALL votes and all possible points.

Short one day redemption until he fucking rectifies his performance history in elimination games period.

RIP Hitta . Not here to dispute this sham.

Do people still follow that tired ass principle that players should stay somewhere for years and either win or suffer for their career?

Pippen averaged about 15/4 his first 4 years if that.

the All-NBA teams are based on your performance in the regular season, Durant was injured too much to make first team and curry wasn't as god tier as last season even though he's still pretty much god tier

So LaMarcus Aldridge is confirmed a big fraud, yes? Nice that he vanished again, that useless shit.

What's expected of the guy? Has he ever been a guy to consistently put up big numbers or carry a team? Are people thinking he has the ability to get the Spurs past the Warriors with Kawhi on the bench?

Looks like he's averaging 17 points a game this post season, which is only a few points off his career average.

Good news for the Celtics. IT got some recognition (and beat John Wall) and Hayward isn't up for the super max. Go get him Danny Stevens!

Seems weird they force a center on each team, but then allow two point guards.

At least if you are gonna add a Center on each team reserve it for full time Centers.Gobert got robbed.

I fully expect all NBA voting to move to the frontcourt/backcourt model of the all star game since more and more Power forwards and Centers merge together with all these skinny bigs that can pass and shoot.

somebody didn't vote lebron 1st team as well

people are weird

That's actually not completely insane. Durant was fucking incredible before getting hurt and if you don't put much emphasis on total games played, maybe you go Kawhi/Durant as your first team forwards.

Nah it's pretty insane. Lebron just played one of his greatest regular seasons.

It would be completely insane not having the best player in the league first team all NBA.

The finals are going to be a team that has 1 all NBA vs a team with 3 all NBA. On paper it should be loopsided but Cleveland is playing amazing. Should go 6 or 7.

KAT getting robbed is fucking stupid

the league is going to unleash a force of nature in this kid

expecting him to average 30/15 next year

Also as time goes on I'm only getting more and more bullish on Lonzo for Lakers

Please don't fuck this up Magic, this kid is special. His BBIQ alone sets him apart from every other player in the draft.

It's not that insane to put regular season Durant alongside or above regular season LeBron. In fact I think it's insane to forget how incredible of a player KD is. Durant is just as skilled as LeBron is, obviously with some trade-off in different areas. Overall of course LeBron is better, but on a given night KD can be just as good.

Not saying the 1st team should be changed btw, injuries suck but they matter

Nah it's certifiably insane.

Durant: 25.1/8.3/4.8 on .651 TS%
LeBron: 26.4/8.6/8.7 on .619 TS%

Those are both amazing offensive statlines and while LeBron's is better, Durant also played better defense and was the best player on the NBA's best team. The Cavs won only 51 games despite having the NBA's second best roster. I would certainly pick LeBron, but if you don't care about the extra 12 games it's not unthinkable to pick Durant.

Good, you make a compelling argument for maybe taking Durant over Lebron if you ignore games played.

But the question wasn't Durant over Lebron, it was Durant and Kawhi over Lebron.
