Wait, no Flood in Halo 4 is confirmed? The novels indicate that Flood is going to continue play a pivotal role in the universe.Elites and Grunts as as iconic to halo as the vehicles are by this point why would the out right retire them when not only do they still actively exists within the Galactic Community of Halo but they dont subtract anything from the game either, its well documented that we are getting new foes and its also known the flood will not return.

Good to see Grunts and Elites (and hopefully Brutes as well) returning, a couple of levels with them is going to be good.
By they you mean Flood or Brutes? They'll surely make a return in Halo 5 I'd wager.

Frank confirmed that we will not be fighting Flood. They are a pivotal part of Halo, so they atleast will be present.Wait, no Flood in Halo 4 is confirmed? The novels indicate that Flood is going to continue play a pivotal role in the universe.

I always hated the Flood, but Greg Bear's novels made them really interesting fiction-wise. But I still wonder how they can make an interesting adversary gameplay-wise.Frank confirmed that we will not be fighting Flood. They are a pivotal part of Halo, so they atleast will be present.
I meant the flood but honestly I'd like both in H4. My favourite levels from an encounter design perspective in the first halo were the last couple where you would alternate between fighting the covenant, sentinels and the flood.
I'd ideally like the covenant and the flood to return in some capacity alongside the new faction. Variety can only be a good thing imo

Guise no flood. The chef kil'd them all
I don't think they're awful, but the texture quality is...questionable at best,

6, the one at the end of H3 was a replacement for the one blown up in H1.
I thought we already finished the fight? There are 5 more Halos out there...

I'm pretty sure the replacement Halo got blown up, too, along the Ark at the end of Halo 3.6, the one at the end of H3 was a replacement for the one blown up in H1.

That leaves 6 active.
Yeah but they ded. They gon' died or Chef wouldn't have said it's finishd
7 Halos. The 1st one was blown up twice(original and replacement) so there are 6 left

Yup. Installation 01, 02, 03, 05, 06 and 07. But most have already been discovered by the time Halo 4 takes place, apparently.
Halsey is sent to Installation 03 after being detained in Glasslands. The ONI team in Primordium talks about Installation 07, and that they know what it's like. They presumably also know about the rest. I also seem to remember the ship the team is on being in orbit around an installation, but I'm not sure.
I dont know if your ever been in the HaloGAF threads but we heavily heavily condemn bad design choices. Yea we are passionate about halo but we dont defend it without logic.
Resources are thin. They can afford space travel, but not full sets of armour! What's up with the covenants exposed arms? It makes them look like night managers at mcdonalds.
I don't get it, didn't the covenant get defeated?
And didn't Halo 3 end with likethe chief being stranded on some weird forerunner planet?
Wild trolls appear!
No one feed them!
We've heard of both Grunt & Jackal underlings we'll be fighting too. That's pretty close to the normal range of enemies.I guess it's not accurate to describe them as Covenant but rather Elites. The Covenant has been dissolved, and the "Covenant" you see here is simply one faction that has cropped up from in the aftermath. Religious zealots, most likely.

Sorry, I don't much outside of Halo lore except for the past 3-4 games I've played involved destroying large rings in space. And no, I never cared the story/plot/lore/or anything of that nature regarding Halo. Just the awesome gameplay.
I know, but simply calling the group "The Covenant" implies that the organization, structure, and power is there when it's not. The Grunts and Jackals aren't their on their own but because of Elites, hence only using their name. We've heard of both Grunt & Jackal underlings we'll be fighting too. yup looks still like halo
anyone got that picture of 1st generation cortana compared to this one. lol.
Did Bungie model Cortana off of Perrin Kaplan from Nintendo? Fugly. Halo 4's is awesome.
Dissolved? I thought they remained the same, only friendly now.
Is this explained in the books, or am I remembering something wrong from H3? Sorry but I haven't read all of them
Just kidding.
New, more powerful and dangerous enemy. That's all we know at the moment, if I'm not mistaken.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the Covenant by Halo 3 was mostly all the Brutes, Prophets, some Jackals and Grunts. I can't remember if some of the Elites stayed loyal, but I'm thinking they didn't due to power struggle that happened between the Elites and Brutes. Anyways, a lot of Elites, some Grunts, Hunters, Jackals broke away and joined forces with the humans to stop the flood and the activation of the Halo rings. The Covenant itself was very much defeated, what fought them was just an alliance between the races that broke away and the humans.
Since their natural environment has a methane atmosphere, they would need to carry methane tanks and breathing apparatus with them whenever they travel into areas without high levels of methane in the air. Since all the other races of the Covenant and their human enemies, breathe oxygen, the Unggoy find themselves wearing breathing masks more often than not.
I hope those Elites and Grunts aren't both hangin out in the same place, without their sealed helmets. Don't Grunts breathe methane? And Elites oxygen? In th books I even remember there being methane filled area where grunts could take off their masks and tanks and elites could go without an EV suit.
