Is it possible that we might see some additional content (course(s)/characters) since the delay between the initial release and the final release in Europe/NA has been like 8 months? My brother and I are really looking forward to this one a lot!

Maybe You can expect a finished game... I still feel that the japanese game was rushed a bit. Maybe the 4GB mandatory install will be gone (I hope, there's really no reason for this requirement). I'd like to see more content/challenge (MnG4 was better on this side... in fact on most side I think, except last version of online part and of course graphical part) but I won't get my hopes up.

I may buy it a second time (it's still very good, even with those problems) if there's some people I can meet online more easily.

Do you think that US and european version will be able to compete, with such a close release date ?

Well you'll likely see new characters as always (replacing some of the Japanese characters), but I don't know about the rest. Usually stays more or less the same afaicr.

I hope so. Could be the decisive factor for me considering not too many NA gaffers play the series. The Asia/JP versions all played together so . . . maybe?

Man, I wish we would finally get to the point where studios realize how dumb this is. The rednecks who would actually take offense to a little extra Japanese quirk in their golf game are just going to buy Tiger Woods anyway. New characters? Sure! But please, let's be done with Americanizing games, keep the others in.

Edit: That aside, they could replace the characters with the entire cast of Hee-Haw and I'd still buy it. Day one!

Near as I can tell with the build we got yesterday, they're going to be identical. Different voices, of course, but the same characters. They didn't really change anything with Hot Shots Tennis as far as I know, and the reasoning was that now that anime-themed characters are a little more mainstream, they don't feel the need to change things up too much.

Oh well, that's good for most then. Unfortunate for me since I played the shit out of MNG5 and actually wouldn't mind playing with some new corny Americanized characters.

Any differences at all then (e.g., clubs, courses, outfits) that you've noticed? Online infrastructure any less suck?

Day one. I can't believe its taken this long to get a port over here. I still have to finish my final stage trial on fore, damned hard. Haven't really heard much recent info on five, how is the online?

Mandatory buy for me. I almost imported it, but decided I could wait it out. One of several games that made me get a PS3, and the only one that has anything like a firm release date.

You're for a change with MnG5, it's the easiest one I've tried in the series (100% finished in one week, probably less that 25h long if you've already played MnG game and you're a decent golfer... I think it took me more than 100h in MnG4 PAL to only unlock ~90% of the game).

Online games improved a lot. I don't really like the way people play the game : birdie, birdie, eagle, birdie, oh-I-missed-a-shot-quit.

Rank system is interesting, though, and they added another mode besides tournament which is interesting. One of my grip in japan version is that they waited very long before opening the courses online.

I haven't play online for quite a long time now. How many courses are available ?

If it's anything like the Japanese version (Which I pre-ordered and played the hell out of), HSG5 **REQUIRES** a 4.5GB install.

(Took a toll on my 20GB launch PS3 :( )

Damn. I'm sure glad I have a 60GB, but I did have to start deleting HD videos a while ago. Rock Band grows every week. And that scares me. Especially because I can't selectively delete files.

I is playin' dis shiz right now. The US build Sony sent over is a little weird and has some... issues, but hot damn, it's Hot Shots, and it's in my (debug) PS FREE! It really is amazing, though, how this series has the power to suck you in for hours at a time. I think it's a more bankable franchise than some give it credit for.

Why would they? 30 was fine for a game like this. The question you should have asked is 'have they butchered the art style for the US market?'.

HSG = Hot Shots Golf = EG = Everybody's Golf

I don't know why they name them differently in other regions.
No dude. Your previous post that had all the golf news. Before you edited it.

going to try on my NA PS3 as soon as the download finishes. I would have got the JP download, but didn't own a PS3 until after they had deleted the demo.

Well, Minna no Golf is the original title, and that translates to Everybody's Golf. So it's basically the same name. Only america needs a special treatment. ;)

well if the screens in PS blog are new or for the US/PAl ver then they still use the old school Chibi characters as MNG5

anyway they failed with the ""Americanized"" in Hot Shots Golf Fore! it was pure crap , i don't think they will do that again .

30 was not rock solid during swing with special effects, and if you play really quickly, you could even get slowdowns during swing (I think it's related to animations on the hole, maybe loading problems... and maybe only on 20GB models if the HDD is slower ?). And I'd prefer having 60fps during swing, anyway. But I doubt that we will see a change in US/PAL versions.

Yeah, it is slower as it has less cache. I don't mind shaky technical aspects in a golf game, as long as it's still fun. I remember Mario Golf had lots of slowdown especially with things like rain, didn't mind. Is there rain in this game? I can't believe I don't know if there is or not.

I don't mind the lack of framerate during animations (even if I find it quite strange to see those on such a powerhouse), but speed variation during swing is rather bad. At least, it's really unusual.

Rain and snow, yes. Maybe not all the effect you'd like to see (I'd love to play golf in a thunderstorm, with thunders in the background, for example...).

But fog is gone I think ? (it was in MnG4, IIRC)

Holy shit thanks :D I tried looking for it on the Japan store but I couldn't find and I heard they took it down.

So should I just put this on a memory stick then put it in my ps3? :)

That's a good question. I think somebody just dl'ed it and it ran no problems, but you might want to ask Shihiko if that doesn't work (he responds to his chat pretty often).

Game Trailers has posted some videos of the US version. The most interesting thing is that the character designs are the same as the Japanese version. So it looks like Sony isn't going to redesign the characters like they've done in the past.

Then why did they take 3/4ths a year to bring it over?

Sony is so dumb at times. HSG5 would've been great for the lineup in the winter.

It would? :lol I'm sure it would sell great with all the Assassins Creeds, CoD4s, etc...

I'm pretty sure they know best when to release it.

Btw, English voices really ruined the game for me :S

Is it me or did they add that translucent arm when using the new swing method? I don't remember that being in the demo

Hopefully that's the norm now. They didn't touch the chars in the most recent game at all either (Open Tee for the PSP)

i guess the new MNG for PSP

and for dumbness , at least since SCEWWS thingy SCEA is only publisher for all SCEJ games in NA now ( not like before when SCEJ try to find good publisher in NA for their games like Ape Escape 2 ,Rule of roses..ect ) that was more stupid than late english port .
