Anyone else find it a bit odd that we just got new Pokemon? This is usually around the sort of time they reveal something story related i.e a Gym Leader or two or the evil team.

I'm not one to complain about Pokemon designs, but Christ, between all those there was none I liked :/ . The electric flying bug is the least worse.
Also, is it my impression or are most of those electric?

The rectangle caterpillars evolution looked good. i thought all of the other designs were ok

Perhaps now we know how Strange Souvenir's design works.
Incidentally, Silktree from Bulbagarden discovered the likely source of its inspiration, which is the Hawaiian deity Lono.
If he's right about it, there may be three more Guardians, perhaps one for each island of Alola, one based on each of Ku, Lono, Kane and Kanaloa.

Pretty sure it is Grubbin counterpart.
They literally have the same horns/pincers and Grubbin's info states it absorbs electricity. It clearly is part of the evolution line.
Been plenty of ugly since day one. If we were revealed Mr. Mime, Jinx, Voltorb, Lickitung, Golbat, Koffing, Muk, etc. today as new Pokemon you'd be saying the same thing.
