Pretty. But still waiting to see how the gameplay looks.
How have we generated three pages of talk over a trailer that exhibits some nice faces (well, the girl anyway) and realistic brick facades, but essentially just involves a guy faking a wound, getting hit by a truck, and said truck crashing after being ambushed?
Man, pre-E3. SO BORED.
This is the second ever trailer to a highly anticipated game. My guess?
Imagine Uncharted 3 in LOU setting. The cover mechanic, the shooting mechanic will probably be taken heavily from U3.
Melee will most likely get an upgrade, and of course Joel won't be ale to free climb. But the way camera is situated, how the camera zooms in when you aim, etc.
Not saying these are bad things, but if you want a little glimpse into gameplay, imagine that.
Or they could just make cinematic games
"Cinematic game" is an oxymoron at this point.
Run around in a tightly linear landscape, shoot enemy, trigger cutscene, run around in a tightly linear landscape, shoot enemy, trigger cutscene. Repeat.
It's not just ND who does this, but I'm kind of miffed by the outpouring of excitement over a game that will likely follow the same scripted formula.
or we just a teaser of the one of the most awaited game ?

Uh, no? I don't care if people get hyped over a Nintendo trailer. Especially if the Nintendo trailer was of a truck crashing into a wall. I'm just saying, E3 is when something worthwhile re: Last of Us will come out, because presumably they'll release a real trailer rivaling the greatness of their UC2 trailer from E3 2009 (the one showing the helicopter, etc). This is the second ever trailer to a highly anticipated game. If someone came into a Nintendo thread with the same attitude you exhibited in the above quote, you'd jump their shit.
f you've been following our coverage for The Last of Us, you know about the story and inspirations for Naughty Dog's new IP but you are probably still curious about how the game plays. The team in Santa Monica is attempting to bring a raw sense of humanity to every aspect of the game and they are striving to make every enemy encounter leave a lasting impression. The game director Bruce Straley and creative director Neil Druckmann want to push enemy AI beyond the standard mindless henchman and to evolve the companion AI of Ellie away from a vapid escortee. Watch the video below to learn what choices you'll have and how Ellie can assist you in combat scenarios for The Last of Us.
Another "cinematic" experience from Naughty Dog.
Why don't they just make films instead of developing brief periods of typical shooter gameplay interspersed within film-ic cutscenes?

^ It probably will follow that "template", but it'll likely have a great story and pretty graphics to compensate, though.
I'll buy this game and probably love the shit out of it...but goddamn I want to see how it plays.
Boy you're making a lot of assumptions aren't you?

Uh... no. I read articles.
A lot of information about the game has already been divulged. This isn't the first trailer for the game.
Then you would know its not being built as a tightly linear experience in the vein of COD or Uncharted at all. I wouldn't strictly call it an open ended experience either, but it walks the line between the two extremes. You also wouldn't be talking about shooting because it will have a limited emphasis on shootingPretty graphics, no doubt. Great story? Arguably. I want thought-provoking stories like I got from Bioshock.

Anyone else wish this was a PS4 title instead? I fear good intentions that the PS3 won't be able to fulfill...or things working fine, but obviously things having benefitted by waiting for new hardware.
You mean to say you'd prefer to see gameplay for a videogame than a short movie of a truck crashing into a wall? Get out. But seriously, I don't see why it wouldn't be playable at E3. It's quite likely a fall release, is it not? Might as well let people start playing it now. It's likely that we'll see some gameplay footage at E3, right?
This looks great so far but I prefer seeing gameplay trailers instead of cut scene trailers.

Why do you bother coming into this thread and throwing a shit parade?
Isn't this sort of thing banable?
I can see where you are coming from but that's a really simplistic way of looking at it and kind of diminishes what ND have achieved. They created a really good action adventure story with lots of little touches of humanity. In UC2 you battle it out in a collapsing building and on a moving train that also involves traversal, they were fantastic action sequences the player participated in. The pacing and balance were spot on and that's why it received such critical acclaim. I also hope they shake up the formula a bit but if the game is anything like UC2 I won't mind.
Fair enough. I guess I misinterpreted your post / jumped to conclusions.Uh, no? I don't care if people get hyped over a Nintendo trailer. Ellie looks a little more like Ashley Johnson, aka her voice actor.
I don't think these people characterizing the Uncharted series as "triggering a cutscene every other firefight" have actually played the games. As a poster noted above, the games constantly introduce new scenarios that are fully playable, my personal favorite being the ship in UC3: The whole level is rocking in real time on a procedurally generated ocean, with cargo sliding to and fro according to their own unique physics, meaning the cover you can hide behind and the platforms you can hop across are literally changing by the moment, all while you're slipping and stumbling and moving fast then slow with the tilting of the ship, your enemies doing the same, both of you struggling to correct your aim to compensate. It's incredible.
You could start saying that about any game coming out this year.
But no, I don't wish it was a PS4 game. Naughty Dog can get more than anyone out of the PS3, and these in engine trailers have already shown the game to be a graphical powerhouse. Even by 2012 standards this is a great looking game.
Well for my part I apologize if I came off the wrong way. I meant more to tease people for counting the girl's freckles in a screencap, etc. But I understand getting hyped over a most wanted game, which this game could very well become for me once we know more about it. I've played waaaaaay more of my PS3 this gen than my Wii, so while I'm a raging nintard on one hand, I definitely have lots of love and respect for Sony's stable of titles. This has quality written all over it so far; the trick will be ND finding ways to keep the scenarios fresh and interesting so that it doesn't devolve into melee one crowd, run away and melee another.Fair enough. I guess I misinterpreted your post / jumped to conclusions.
Whoa! I wasn't targeting you in particular. I just meant the general sentiment voiced by various people that make UC sound like Heavy Rain. (And full disclosure, I actually loved Heavy Rain, and further full disclosure, I'm not one to defend ND as some sort of god -- I just really believe they do a great job with setpieces in particular.)If nothing else, don't ever make this accusation. I have played the games, and I even enjoyed them. Of all the cinematic games I've played this gen, which for me includes the Halo games, the Gears games, the CoD games, the Dead Space games, the Uncharted series has been the best. I guess I entered the wrong thread for posting a negative (or slightly less than ecstatic) opinion of Naughty Dog's achievements.
They said it wont.and ND will eventually move to PS4 anyway, probably already did at least for the U3 team. I don't think Last of Us for PS3 strategy is bad. they can have more userbase who buy the game, and if the game is great, it'll be a great incentive for people to buy PS4 for the sequel of this game. I reckon a lot of people buy PS3 because they just need to play GoW3 because GoW2 end with such massive tease.
that said, I hope Last of Us won't have cliffhanger ending.
I imagine when the truck crashes, that's when it segues back into gameplay, at which point you assume a defensive position in the... garage, or wherever they wound up, and slowly work your way outside, picking off the punks outnumbering you. I think they actually described this scene in one of the previews. Personally, I'm most interested to see these quarantine zones where they kill on sight anyone with even the slightest sign of infection. Sounds chilling...Damn, that looked good. It really does seem like it's just a random cutscene from the game, so I feel like it gives us a good indication of the level of storytelling. I'm just about sold.
They said it wont.
I give you the full quotethank god, one thing I appreciate from ND is their game have nice satisfying ending with closure, none of that vague ending with teaser for next game crap that's been all over other series, even in Sony's own catalog, with GoW, Resistance, Killzone
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=461993-The game's plot is self contained, so were this game to bomb and the franchise die, you won't have to worry about a cliff hanger ending. They didn't directly rule out sequels though, but just said that they think about one game at a time. However, earlier in the article, they refer to this as a "new IP that we're definitely going to be supporting".
