NFL Off-Season |OT2| My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Draft

Because competition fixed 24hour news networks.
Sports leagues having their own channels solved the ESPN problem.

Competition carved out niches where you can get what you want out of cable news, so yes, it worked out well.

The NFLN is completely beholden to the league, as is ESPN because of the live game contracts.

Sean Payton stole drugs from his team, fired a guy who refused to lie for him and the league covered it up. It's well known that those are factual events and not in question. However, it would have cost either entity far too much to actual cross the league and cover that story. Hopefully a new news network which doesn't have live game contracts will have some balls. That is exactly the type of news story I would expect a Murdoch TV channel to dig in to.

Not a Jellyfish

but I am a sheep
He didin't say anything that crazy in the ESPN article. PFT is just trying to make a story out of it.

Yeah I know, it is just annoying though. Especially considering that players like Cromartie will take that shit so seriously because he is a dumb ass. haha

Just the old saying, if you don't have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.

ESPN is on TMZ levels now tho, they make up rumors to fill up space it feels like.

That's the nature of the industry. Yeah it sucks and ESPN leads the charge, but sports talk radio is like that. Listen to some of the trash (Loose Cannons) on Fox Sports Radio. Same shit. It's the 24 hour news cycle that creates the need for sensationalist coverage because there's only so much real news in a day.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Some odds for players to win the Madden cover:

Cam Newton 2/3
Calvin Johnson 7/2
Aaron Rodgers 11/2
Rob Gronkowski 7/1
Drew Brees 18/1
Victor Cruz 10/1
Darrelle Revis 40/1

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

And I also Expect Murdoch sports to hire more questionable talent and lead every story with "Some people say" just so they can infuse their political beliefs with their reporting.

Considering that's exactly what ESPN is doing, I don't see how this would be any worse. Hell, maybe they will force ESPN into an MSNBC-esque shift, except instead of going socialist-left ESPN will hew to intelligence.

Or (more likely) eventually in the race for viewers we'll get topless Erin Andrews doing sportscenter.

Didn't you see Payton's interview yesterday? He has been truthful during this process! Why not believe him?

Let's go join Drew Brees as we had to NFL headquarters to demand to know what truly happened with Payton!

This cover up makes Braun's look innocent by comparison.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.

nfl network did cover that story, in fact, they addressed it again in detail when the penalties for the bounty program came out.

As far as I know, they only covered it after bounty gate and only lightly. If it were any other sport, NFLN would have Bob Costas and ESPN would have Bob Ley doing two hour long specials on the subject.

Since it's the NFL? Whitewash.

Just the old saying, if you don't have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.

That's what Mark is doing and he is getting ripped for it. Right now there isn't much to talk about sport wise on ESPN. They stopped talking about NHL, there can only be so much LeBrick talk, the NFL is basically dead until the draft, and baseball is in an odd limbo with the regular season and preseason happening at the same time.

Tebow and the Jets are an easy topic to talk about.

They covered back then as well, and I wouldn't call it lightly, I was actually surprised at how matter of fact they presented it, very much like how you laid it out. That and other recent stories has made me wonder just how much control the NFL actually exerts over the network.

Either way we win!

I've never heard FMT speak in real life but if his speaking skills are anything like his ranting skills I say with 100% certainty that he would be the best color commentator in the history of the world.

Was anyone just watching ESPN? Gronk and Revis were on and cracked me up. The lady was doing a rapid fire segment, and they were giving the first thought that came to mind after she gave them a word.

she said "Belichick" and Revis said "jerk"

she said "Tim Tebow" and Gronk said "starting quarterback for the Jets"

Is Gronk a Madden cover option?

Because drunk Gronk sandwiched by two co-eds is pretty much the best idea ever.

Right now he's up against this:

Could somebody with photoshop "Maddenize" this for me?

Glad the NFL had the sense to change the OT rule.

A great way to improve it though would be to allow the other team a chance to score a TD even if a TD is scored on the first possession. It'd be great to have the "shoot outs" continue on in OT.

They should just play another quarter. Why change the rules of the game just because you're going to overtime?

This is ideal but something something injuries

I'd be down for infinite quarters until the game is decided if the NFL agrees to limit the season size to 16 games.

Players reactions to bounties made it clear they give exactly zero shits about safety, so neither do I.

NFL.com's "Greatest Team of All Time" bracket has reached their final four.

http://www.nfl.com/features/bracketology/alltimeteams?round=5

Surprised the 2000 Ravens made it this far. Gonna be 84 49ers vs 85 Bears at the end I'm guessing.

07 Patriots would blow out every single one of those teams

athletes get better and stronger as time passes, these brackets are dumb. even the current jets would manage playoffs playing in those shitty leagues

if the 85 Bears played the 07 Patriots with 85 rules, they'd probably shut them out.

We can include teams that were awesome in the regular season but couldn't win a Super Bowl?

By that logic, the 2011 Packers are the best ever.

You mean the '98 Vikings. '98 Broncos should be removed from discussion since they were very arguably the best team that year! They lost in OT to the Falcons because their kicker misses his first kick on the year. But we can't include any of those losers in the discussion when you have the '72 fins and '85 bears on the table.
