Even if Nintendo did not have a single game ready to show, they should have showed up. Do you know anything about partnerships with third parties? How would Nintendo build better relationship with third parties if they don´t have conference to show what games coming to their new hardware? Having a conference at E3 is also about strengthening third party relations, especially when the majority of third party games ignores Nintendo hardware.
What a reductive kind of thinking. First of all, they had problems developing the WiiU because it was an HD console. Secondly, both their handheld and their console should be more powerful than their previous iteration, which mean s larger development teams, larger budgets and larger time to develop games. They were unprepared to deal with HD in 2012, when all western developers went to the same trouble i 2006-2007. It´s not what they have to show me that is ready. It is about showing their vision of the future of their console, handheld and games. Not announcing their console prior to E3 and then showing games for said console at E3 is huge wasted opportunity. Sony and MS did the same thing. Even if Nintendo delayed the launch they should have absolutely done this. Sony did it, and we see how many delays all their games have. It´s about projecting your future vision to the consumer. But please continue to be ignorant about marketing realities, and gauging consumer interest, and of course building better relationship with third parties.
