E3 is the biggest gaming event of the year, and it's getting even bigger. What the hell are these people talking about?
You say this but i bet thats why they announced the two mobile games, investors care more about a mobile Nintendo than a hardware Nintendo.I can't wait to read the Q&A later tonight. I hope the investors get tough on the board.
That doesn't seem very wise after their lowest-selling home console.
Why would anyone make a distinction? Other than the handful of people at e3 (all journalists and 'hardcores') for the most part everyone is watching both shows from their computer.
I'm listening GameXplain's exasperation and I know how they feel.

Its a delay of six months, dude.
My favorite part is people who were super hyped for e3 saying e3 is no longer important
This includes Nintendo's digital event and treehouse stuff. You do realize this, yes?21 million people tuned in to watch E3 last year via Twitch alone. That's not what I call irrelevant. Musings by one of the most insufferably cynical journalists on the internet doesn't change that number. They don't really show up to other tech events either. Are they all irrelevant too? Please.
Here's your proof. Take a seat:
The declining relevance of E3 is not just a Nintendo story, it's an ongoing one throughout the industry. Activision and EA have declined to book booths at the event this year as well. There's legitimate discussion to be had on the future role of the expo and its diminished importance in the eyes of publishers when multiple avenues, including direct ones, exist to better shape and control the messaging and exposure of announcements.21 million people tuned in to watch E3 last year via Twitch alone. Is it really burning bridges if Nintendo knows most of those people will continue to support them anyway? They will never say it publicly for obvious reasons but I think Nintendo probably feels they can call the bluff of any disgruntled Wii U fan and be alright.
Ok, lets take bets. Anyone think that March, 2017 is certain or will we see a delay to Holiday 2017? Anyone feel confident to stick with that March date?
This is terrible reasoning. 1) it shows more how Nintendo is out of touch. And 2) Nintendo directs are the definition of preaching to the choir. Gotta get that big stage annoucement so people even know what you have.
There was more news about the NX than most expected, it just wasn't what they wanted to hear.Well we got a release month. That's something more than I was expecting tbh.
Because most casual video game players at least heard of E3 and are generally aware of when it is.
Alot of those same people don't know when the random Nintendo directs hit.
How are people spinning this as bad news in any way shape or form? This delaying can potentialy mean more games, better features out the box, stronger hardware. Not to mean that the console will launch at a time when there will be no other competition from sony or microsoft. All we have to do is wait.an extra 6 months. And before that time we will certainly have details concerning the hardware and concept.
Are we all just uoset because nintendo is skipping e3? They will have their own event for sure. Put money on that.

This feels insane to me, how is Nintendo gonna make money this year, does everything hinge on Sun and Moon now?
the relevance for the Expo but not the date.
I'm always floored by how doom and gloom they are about Nintendo. I mean, they're known as Nintendo fans exclusively.

Hard to disagree. I think it's truly just a strategic decision to avoid what happened on Wii U and 3DS.
People can say their hype is deflated and that they care less as the console is delayed but if Nintendo comes out with guns blazing upon the NX's official reveal, I'm sure many will jump right back on board.
Could be a case of Nintendo putting all their eggs in a basket but they obviously want to excite people again and are willing to take the initial blow in order to better prepare.
Yeah. E3 has huge numbers, but that's across a bunch of days with a ton of websites across multiple huge events, each of which competes with the others for mindshare. Saying e3 is big does not necessarily mean that an individual company gets more out of it than their own event would give themThe declining relevance of E3 is not just a Nintendo story, it's an ongoing one throughout the industry. I can't stop thinking about the hilarity of the NX launching a full year after VR and whatever gimmick its going to have at its core.
PSVR will have been on the market for half a year at least and Nintendo is going to get up in front of everyone and talk about another "new way to play". Its unfathomable.
Not really.
Nintendo are slowly backing out of E3, we can see that quite easily. They're not the only company to wonder if E3 is really worth it. This doesn't mean that they're going to talk about this thing during a Nintendo Direct. They could easily do a Nintendo World style event that they've done in the past for their other console launches. These events come some time after E3 and all of the press is invited.
Nintendo World could allow them to spend as much time as they want on each announcement. It's not as bad as people think it is.
You are forgetting how unproven and "gimmicky" VR is.I can't stop thinking about the hilarity of the NX launching a full year after VR and whatever gimmick its going to have at its core.

A lot of people absolutely insisted it would be in 2016. They were wrong. Now they mad.
No shit. But that proves my point even further.
But that news in itself was a disappointment, missing the big holiday shopping season in the states, and if the NX is lucky enough to score multiplatform titles that release in fall, the delay for the NX versions will hurt potential sales for those people with multiple platforms.Well we got a release month. That's something more than I was expecting tbh.

I guess im content with the wait because i have a ps4 and 3ds. But even if i didnt, the delay is for the greater good.
