they were probobly waiting for him to get cured from the injury he sustined earlier in the year to talk to him about contract and what not.

that is the only explanation i can find inside my head :/

Club Secretary messed up, I believe. They had a verbal agreement in place for months, but they never actually got around to giving him one in writing.

A Brazilian goal keeper, who police named a prime suspect in the disappearance and murder of a woman said to be his former girlfriend, has refused to answer questions on his alleged involvement, police said Friday.

Investigators in the state of Minas Gerais said Bruno Fernandes Das Dores de Souza, who played for Flamengo football club, orchestrated the murder of Eliza Samudio, 25. Her body remains missing a month after her disappearance.

Minas Gerais police investigator Wagner Pinto told reporters Thursday that Souza watched as Samudio was asphyxiated, mutilated and eventually fed to dogs. He said the details surfaced during a confession from Souza's 17-year-old cousin.

During the alleged confession, the cousin details how he worked with two of Bruno's friends -- Luiz Henrique Ferreira Romao, nicknamed "Spaghetti," and former policeman Marcos Aparecido dos Santos, known as "Bola." Both men have been arrested in connection to the investigation.

"They tied her hands, and this other individual strangled her," Pinto said, referring to Santos. Later they deboned and disemboweled her," Pinto said.

The woman's body was taken to an undisclosed location where her remains were fed to several Rottweilers, police said.

The cousin told investigators that he witnessed Souza watching the entire incident, Pinto said.

Souza's former attorney, Michel Assef Filho, told reporters Thursday that, "Bruno has only said that he has no knowledge of the facts, he is astonished and scared by his cousin's testimony and that's it."

Filho stopped representing Souza when the Flamengo Club suspended Souza's contract, as the attorney works on behalf of the club.

His new attorney, Ercio Quaresma, said Souza, Romao and dos Santos deny all accusations.

All three are being held at a high-security prison in Contagem, Minas Gerais, after they were escorted from Rio de Janeiro in a police-chartered jet.

Souza and Romao were taken to the Minais Gerais police department for questioning Friday morning. Both refused to answer questions, a police spokesman told CNN.

So far, seven people have been arrested in connection to the case, including Souza's wife, Dayane.

The football star was last seen with Samudio in June as they headed for his country home in the state of Minas Gerais. Officials in Minas Gerais are still searching for Samudio's body.

On Thursday, the Flamengo Club stated it "is not involved in any way" with events which have occurred. The club said it is suspending Souza's contract "until all the facts" are known.

Carra's going to stay because he(on last seasons form) wouldn't start for any club in the top 4(& he loves the club so much he is on record he would leave if he isn't a regular starter), Stevie has managed to confirm that he still wants to play for England, but hasn't managed to say anything about staying at Anfield.Torres obviously won't say anything until after the WC but lets be honest if they have brains they will be off like a shot( we are a club with no money, but more importantly no ambition outside the commercial dept., but at least we've sold more shirts than we ever have)

Its final, all Newcastle are waiting for is to see what the decision is on the appeal. If Everton win favour then we'll pay an agreed fee. If not, then he'll join for free. He was here last night, after travelling up from Bolton, and everything was sorted out. His agent had a 'Deadline' for offers to be today - no idea why.

It would also appear the Steve Harper (GK) is strongly considering Celtic's offer for him, which would see Fraser Forster and Tim Krul battle it out for the #1 shirt.

Let's hope they don't have brains then. After all, before anyone is sold, it's essentially the same squad that finished second in 08/09; minus Alonso, and now Benayoun, who's had a few things to say about Rafa.

The scarf's a good sign, and Hodgson seemed confident Gerrard would stay. Jovanovic has been given the number 10 shirt last used by Voronin - surely he can't be any worse :lol

I've been watching Netherlands-France U19 Euro Champ game now and it was much more interesting than most of WC games. 1-4, French wiped the floor with Netherlands team. France has good reserves for the WC and Euro Cup in the next 4-6 years. And Lacazette was great.

Yeah, I think replacing Yossi with Cole plus money was a great deal, even though Ancellotti doesn't seem to agree. I think Gerrard will be very happy too.

And agreed, the club has done some good cheap deals recently, let's not forget Kyrgiakos.

I'm worried that we might need 2. If we say got Figuero in as a cheap reliable first choice i'm not sure i trust Mavinga (a centre back really) or Robinson (too young) to step up as back up. And Carra/Dagger are wasted as left backs

Reina (Gulasci/Cav)

Johnson (kelly) - Carra (Soto) - Agger (Skrtel) - ??? (Mavinga)

Masch (Lucas) - Aquilani (Shelvy?)

Kuyt (Maxi) - Gerrard (Cole) - Jovanovic (Babel

Torres (Ngog)


I would also say that if (more likely when...) Masch leaves then Gerrard may drop back to central midfield leaving the hole role to Cole and maybe someone like Pacheco as back-up

I would put Skrtel ahead of Carra, Maxi ahead of Kuyt and Cole on the left.

Riera now must be sold, and that money used to get a left back (or two).

Sad that our 3 major signings of 2010 have been free transfers. I'm happy with Joe Cole, he's a quality player.. but I hope this doesn't distract anybody from the fact we are still fucked with our current owners and all the other twats ruining LFC

I think Riera will be gone to Olympiakos in the next few days for £3-4M, he won't be missed.
