PAL Charts - Week 34, 2007 (BIOSHOCKED - 2nd fastest selling 360 title ever)

Psychotext said:
Based on shipment figures from a banned site. Treat as bullshit but posting to give an idea of some games that could potentially be above a million.

Please don't ban me. =(
So that's where the guys in this thread get their 20 million sellers on 360 information from? :lol

Oh and ban this guy! ;p

I'm sure PGR3 will be over a million by now, and Guitar Hero 360 almost definitely is.

Almost definitely.

Yeah, I'm suprised PGR3 wasn't on the list and I had a look at Guitar Hero 3 when I saw it on Psychotext's list and the only figures I could see were 3 million sold by the PS2 and 360 versions combined so I'm guessing the 360 version must have one of those. I also wouldn't be suprised by Crackdown due to Halo 3 beta (and that it's a good game) but I read somewhere it settled at about 850,000. Can't remember the source though.

That source would be incorrect, it did 900,000 before the Halo 3 beta began and I'm certain it sold a few in May. Over a million by now no doubt.

REDMOND, WA—May 10, 2007—Thought Pacific City was well on its way to becoming a wholesome, law-abiding community? Think again, Agent.

Microsoft Game Studios and Realtime Worlds today announced that there is still more crime to be purged and new ways to purge it with the release of both free and premium downloadable content for the critically acclaimed Xbox 360™ open-world action title Crackdown. The content will be available for download from Xbox LIVE Marketplace on May 10.

With more than 900,000 units of Crackdown sold-through in only two months, Microsoft Game Studios and Realtime Worlds are extending the game’s unparalleled experience, offering gamers several exciting new features, including vehicles, weapons, game modes and seven highly explosive, new Achievements. In addition, Agents will have free access to improved mission time trials, an option to repopulate gangs and kingpins after they have beaten the game, a vehicle impound garage, and the long-awaited Keys to the City: a comprehensive cheat mode including new “super agent” abilities and the option to create ramps, vehicles and explosives anywhere in Pacific City, at any point in the game.

Fair enough but you would have thought if they had reached 1 million, they would have announced so. Was there ever a break down how many different people played the Halo 3 beta?

900k. Nobody is gonna buy the Halo 3 beta for the dirty free game.

Bioshock, BioSHOCK, BIOSHOCK...

So Bioshock has taken the world by storm.

You would think that the Japanese would be able to see past their distaste for FPS and pick this game up simply because it's that damn good. I'm not asking for miracles, but even the MOH games on PS2 sold over 100k.

It's just hard to imagine someone picking this up, playing it a bit, and going "meh, I'll wait for Bladestorm."

This is really amazing. It reminds my of the Lost S2 premiere when I couldn't believe a show this strange was such a massive hit that everyone I knew was talking about. This sort of stuff is usually so niche and under the radar. We're watching a miracle unfold before our very eyes.

I'm all for Bioshock, but I think we should reserve judgment until the figures from Tajikistan roll in. Reports out of Dushanbe suggest that the games sales were hindered by confusion over the widescreen issue.

j/k of course, no offense to our fellow gamers in Tajikistan :)

That's just awesome, Bioshock deserves each and every sale as it's such an ace game! I got both blue dragon and bioshock on the 24th, well worth the money both of them.

Germany:

1. Pokemon Diamond (DS)
2. More Brain Training (DS)
3. Brain Training (DS)
4. Pokemon Pearl (DS)
5. Bioshock (360)
6. Pony Friends (DS)
7. Singstar Pophits (PS2)
8. Animal Crossing (DS)
9. Sims: Pets (DS)
10. Singstar 90's (PS2)

Bioshock manages to debut in the Top10, just like Forza2 did. I don't think it'll have long staying power though (much like Forza2). It did manage to beat a couple of casual games like Pony Friends and Singstar so not all is lost I guess.

Mario Party drops off the Top 10, I wonder if it can re-enter the charts next week.

germany is more nintendo land than Japan these days. still a good showing for bioshock. it's pretty scary some of the DS games in the top ten in germany, either that they're still there or that they're there at all.

Still there. And in regards to Pony Friends, it just shows that the DS is getting popular amongst girls (gaming in general is getting more popular with girls). I heard it's actually a good game for what it's worth (playing with Ponies). It may not appeal to you and me but that doesn't make it a bad game which should bomb.

Are home consoles practically dead in Germany or something? DS domination.
Been that way for months now. Apart from the ocassional Wii and 360 game (though only 3 charted in the last few months) and PS2 casual bestsellers there's just DS. Plus PC (these are console charts). Best selling software of last year was Anno for PC.

like, woah.

We're probably the only country in the world where Bioshock isn't #1 this week. :lol That list is pretty shameful, I hate every game on there except #2, #3 and #5.

This, and it was available in stores only from Friday on - so the sales (especially also the PC version) should carry over to the next week.

Good fucking God Bioshock is a confirmed worldwide mega hit. If MS is smart (and well, you know...) they are doing everything in their power to secure that franchise and then some. Buy 2K, agree to fund the advertising for their next 5 games, hire ninjas to kidnap Ted Levine's family, whatever.

To be fair, I'll have a look at the PC charts as well:
1. Bioshock (Action)
2. World of WarCraft: The Burning Crusade (RPG)
3. World of WarCraft (RPG)
4. Need for Speed: Carbon (Rennspiel)
5. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (Simulation)
6. Call of Duty 2 (Action)
7. CounterStrike: Source (Action)
8. Black & White 2 (Simulation)
9. Der Herr der Ringe: Die Schlacht um Mittelerde (Strategie)
10. Die Sims Deluxe Preishit (Action)
#1, #4, #5, #6, #8, #9 are alright. Better than the console charts and no ponies in sight.

Bundle effect, no?

It's really clever to throw in Resistance though. It's not gonna be a big factor in this year's holiday sales, but they're building up a nice fanbase for the sequel. SCEA should do the same thing instead of that lame 80GB Motorstorm pack.

Bundling an M rated game in a console limits its potential buyers.
