Is it possible for party members to perform a follow up if you haven't unlocked their social link yet? I just got
haru
and she did a follow up in like my second battle with her in my party...

Was she using her gun? I know everyone can do gun-based follow up attacks when they're not in the active party, but I'm not sure if that's default or a Tower confidant perk.

yep, technically all the palaces can be done in under 2-3 days depending on the scenes, you get to the treasure and you send the card or wait it doesn't waste days at all.

Except for the Palace immediately prior to this one. Like I said.

I've been playing this game for nearly 140 hours, I know how it works, hahahaha. I was just wondering if this one was similar to the previous one since it's
kind of
the final one.

Palace
6
doesn't skip ahead or waste days actually, since
Akechi stops you from sending the card for many days...so its litterally you find the treasure meet up in the room and then just wait till the date...same thing as every other palace just the day the card is sent is different.

Good point, that's true.

My favorite confidant would be Sun, the one I skipped my first ever playthrough, guy is dope I wish more politicians existed like him in real life.

I just got this to rank 10. It was pretty interesting and he even has good abilities in his ranks.

What are good way to devolp stats. I feel like I am not doing enough to increase them

I know the bath house in Monday but is there anything else?

The diner.

Eventually getting 3 proficiency with crafting becomes easier. It's possible to get 3 proficiency if Morgana makes a comment and you get two of a tool at once. You could proc it at 1 proficiency but it is easier to do once you have at least 2 proficiency. You just need to reload your save till it happens.

Thanks I know some confidants require you to have higher stats don't want to fall behind

Dude yes! His final few rank ups were so touching, probably my favorite confidant next to fortune and hiero.

Oddly enough I feel like the confidants that had the strongest stories were the non party ones. Although futaba's was pretty solid until the whole save her friend thing.

Wish I didn't get the Steelbook for this, didn't enjoy taking the disc out of it, to the point where I never want to put it back in the case lol

What is the deal with money in this game? Should I be spending it pretty regularly on armor, weapons, booster drinks, healing items, etc? Or should I be saving for something I'll need to buy in the future?

I just beat the first palace and have about ¥20,000. I could buy some protector gear for my team bc they seem to take damage easier than I do. I am already stocked up on healing supplies. Is it wise to spend money, in my case on gear, at this point in the game?

You better embrace racking up Treasures from fights and other places. That's gonna be how you EAT.

Doing jobs can also help when you need a quick buck too though.

Y'know what, she might've? When I said she "just" did, I really meant last night at 1am oops. If she did, it must be by default because I just now started the Tower Arcana after completing the palace.

Ahaha, Joker's responses are hilarious.
Because he's a kid with grown adult man responses to the tantrum-throwing Akechi.

Getting some flashbacks of Higurashi though for those who watched it, that Japanese VA work.

Seriously, seriously thought (end of Palace
7
spoiler)
the game actually killed off Ryuji. As part of the #RyujiDidNothingWrong camp, I was about to be majorly pissed.

But then of course the way they handle it is so fucking stupid. Ugh. Anime.

I finally got around to starting this game, played most of the day, 10 hours in and at the final part of the 1st palace, this game is addicting. I can't wait to see where the story goes, I can already tell I'm in for a hell of a ride.

Well that was the longest exposition dump ever.

I enjoyed it though!

Also, I really, really like this cast. Had their confidants been stronger, I easily would have said they were better than 3 or 4.

Welp, I'm definitely at the final turning point, but I assume that there's still quite a bit left.

It was definitely stupid but I was glad anyways.

Guys, be real with me -- I'd rather you break my heart than the game: It's 12/18.
Shido is about to make his announcement today.
All I need is one more level in Hanged Man and one more level in Devil. Question:
Am I fucked? Was last night the final night for Confidants? If I had even three more days I could probably do it (if they showed). I'll be heart broken if I got this close and failed. After 140 fucking hours.

You have
two more days.
I want to say three, but feel more certain that it's just the two. :(

Mementos question: how do I beat the cheater boss? I'm missing all my attacks and I get kicked out of it. Am I doing something wrong?
It's one of those "supposed to lose" battles.

I know, I tried taking an SMT approach thinking I needed to Sukukaja and Sukunda, and that did fuck all of course.

Just finished the game :) Long post incoming

Yoshitsune made that last 'dungeon' fun to go through. The cutscene where the PT start to dissapear was pretty powerful, good job to the team. I loooooved the whole Velvet Room segment, from Lavenza (so she's the voice behind the Confidants huh), Igor (wow, I thought his voice change was just because of his VA thing in Japan, didn't expect they would trick us and tie the story around it. Poor Real!Igor didn't spend much time with MC. And they didn't got the 3/4 voice) and saving your teammates from the cells (wish there was a reference to Goro or something ;_;)

The final boss was great too. I like how he and his attacks were themed after the seven capital sins, just like how P3's final boss had ones themed after the Arcanas. And yessss, I totally appreciate all the scenes with your everyday Confidants. You rock, Mishima!

Didn't expect MC's Ultimate Persona to be that huge lol Can't wait to fuse him in NG+. Every Confidant trying to get help to get MC out jail was heartwarming too :) Props to Ohya for going to MC's neighborhood. The Christmas and Valentines scenes with Makoto were cute.

So this is the goodbye to Shibuya. Had a lot of fun going through the city one last time and hearing the NPC's final moments. Now that I think about it I think I missed the drunk man and the foreigner?

(P3/P4G/P5 spoilers) I liked the ending.
Both P3's (you know, MC dying and not being able to say farewell to his teammates thanks to stupid Aigis) and P4's (everyone running and yelling at MC while the train kept going) made me teary-eyed during the credits (probs to the songs as well), while P5's made me feel satisfied and I smiled through it. Having the intro play at the radio was a nice touch haha. Only complaint was that Goro didn't get a shot in the credits. :/ Shinji had one in P3's, and for some reason Marie had one as well in P4G's.

First Playthrough
Hard Mode (first Persona I beat in Hard wooo)
Play-time: 147:34 (Hehe. I did liked exploring the town and reading the stuff the game threw to me. I would bet a good portion of it went to grinding a bit in the first palace until level 11, trying to get materials for tools in Mementos, backtracking in dungeons lol or leaving the game in pause while doing something else)
Main Team: MC - Ryuji - Yusuke - Makoto (all lvl 73)
Maxed all social stats and Confidants (I don't think I visited the maid cafe, gym or batting cages at all tho lol)
Compendium: 80%
Money: 915,259 yen

Overall, one of my favorite games and probably my favorite Persona as well. Stylish as hell, they put a good amount detail to everything: menus, icons, the Velvet Room, AoA, you name it! Definitely appreciate all gameplay changes, from the dungeons to Confidants abilities. Having Personas be the Shadows this time is way better than the generic Shadows from P3/P4, and negotiating in general was fun. Hard was a good challenge (Kamoshida's Palace was probably the hardest due to SP lol) and I didn't use the free DLC. About the story, I found it nice how they just were doing things their way at first and eventually they clash with the mental shutdowns issues and the black mask. Ryuji yelling everywhere that they were the PT was annoying, but I liked him a lot outside of that (amazing VA as well). And Haru definitely should have had some scenes prior to her recruitment. Why can't you see during school at all for those months? She says she admired the PT, so maybe you could go talk to her or something during school as the game progresses. Favorite dungeon has be the sixth
(the music, Crow, being a casino in general, how it ties to the beginning of the game
being followed by the second
(Yusuke, jumping through paintings, how it actually feels as a heist, pacing compared to the first)
. Final character ranking: Goro/Makoto/Yusuke > Ryuji/Futaba > Haru > Morgana/Ann

I enjoyed the PT as a group, I don't see why people claim they're not friends or close as a group just because there aren't as many scenes of them doing stupid stuff like in P4. Even Yusuke went to their student sessions despite not being from Shujin. And their Mementos conversations are great as well, such as Ryuji inviting Yusuke for some beef bowl. Heck, some even appear in others' Confidants events, unlike P4 where it was just MC and Nanako.

Anyways, I think I'll return to my save file, try to fill the Compendium as much as possible and obtain more money. Then Normal or Merciless NG+ with Japanese soundtrack and (hopefully) some costume DLC for fun and obtaining Platinum.

My take on Ryuji, which is a character I've already said I really like.

He is probably the second time that you meet and the first one to fully accept you. Well, I mean, he is already an outcast so why would it matter if he hangs out with the transfer student that eats babies for breakfast?

He is angry, and troubled, and it's found quite early on how he is called the "traitor"
of the track team (which is bullshit anyway, fuck the track team) and, despite all those things, he still goes to the Palace thinking they've actually been kidnapped.

During the first arc, you see both good Ryuji and angry Ryuji quite a bit. He is the one that fucks it up and makes Kamoshida want to expel you two. Can't say I didn't want to punch him in the face after what happened to Shiho.

The main interactions with the rest of the cast are Morgana and Ann. I didn't remember it during my first playthrough, but Morgana is quite mean to him for no reason and...
most of the time he doesn't really strike back. The only times when he calls out Morgana is when he is all condescendent and bossy, tells you what to do and ends the dialogue saying "I think?".

When it comes to Ann, he is quite caring too. He is socially inept to a degree due to his temper, and he is quite harsh to Ann when she wants to join the group, but he is just worried about her and this is shown multiple times.

You've probably started his Confidant too: you only have him and Tae available at the time. The whole Confidant is a test to his pacient and a showcase of his good intentions. He states that he doesn't want to go back at the track team, yet he helps both certain members and the team as a whole without asking anything back. He doesn't want to go back to the team after all

During the second arc and onward, he is the character that usually is the most pushy about changing someone's heart. He doesn't hide in any moment that he wants to get some payback at those shitty adults, including Shido; or that he'd love if the PT are famous. Seeing how he is the only character whose "conflict" doesn't get resolved, I don't find it that strange. I think I already sold it before. He has all the boxes marked to be looking for external recognition: bad grades, bullied at school, nobody gives a crap about him. A person like that will often try to stand out because, no matter what you say, being treated like crap by most people of your own age affects you, and in the end you want people to recognize you, even if it's only to show them how wrong they are.

Things keep scalating and the group get caught in their own recognition. Both Ann and Ryuji fuck up by saying "omg it's so cool we are the PT! we should tell everybody!
(add a "to get them girls" in Ryuji's case). Even Makoto, who brings some extra needed order and authority to the group, and Yusuke, who is... well Yusuke, get caught in that.

After Palace 5 and everything that happens, you actually see him reflecting and finding out he was no different that the people whose hearts he wanted to change. And,
yeah, he half asses the apologise to Morgana, but I'd half ass it too if a group of people only wanted ME to apologize. Wish the game would have allowed to call out both before and force them to solve their problems.

And... well, after Palace 6 there really isn't any problem with him, really.

I can get it. Some people don't like him. They may think he is annoying and all. But people often overblow his flaws and ignore everything else. He is a consistent character that gets some development and becomes a more fully realized person as the game advances.

His interactions with Ann are great too. I really liked when they're just chilling out somewhere at school and he says something like "I didn't know you were that cool when we were at middle school".

One of my favorite characters in the game. He behaves like a total bro, but he doesn't lick your balls like Yosuke. Hanging out with him actually has a positive impact in his life and by the end of his Confidant he manages to solve his problems without going to Mementos (something that happens with most party members, which is great and empowers the "I don't need to be a PT to change society" message.

My favorite confidant would be Sun, the one I skipped my first ever playthrough, guy is dope I wish more politicians existed like him in real life.

Yeah, I loved his story line, being a politician
that got to the Diet too young,
and only due to his own personal gain. He then gets kicked out because of corruption charges (some which aren't actually theirs) and when he gets the chance to tell the world he didn't do them, or to just join the party and choose the safe but slow route,
he says "fuck it" and goes to the elections as an independent.

I pushed myself to finish him because in a game as political as Persona 5, it felt like I should. But I was pleasantly surprised at how good he was. I wish there were actual politicians that were like him in RL :l

Holy SHIT, I did it. I completed my final Confidant in the very last slot of free time in the game. I'm not kidding. It was so down to the wire but I pulled it off in my first playthrough, 140 hours in (although I still have some playing to go, obviously).

So ecstatic. If I had ended up missing it by a single day I would truly have never stopped being bummed about it.

Now I can go into the endgame with confidence and resolve, knowing I'm leaving nothing behind (apart from a few books and video games... oh, and batting, which I literally never did).

I just needed to share.

In terms of growth and character development i'd say its definitely

Junpei > Ryuji >> Yosuke.

I don't even hate Yosuke, but he doesn't really grow. Sure things happen to him, but he doesn't really change outside of his social link and the first couple hours of the game. He really ends up feeling like someone who was just with you for the ride.

Ryuji does change a good deal. Mostly in his confidence, outlook on the thieves and his own ideals. He may be the only group member to not waver, but he is also the only group member to be utterly fixated on popularity to only throw that away in favor of saving people later. He also has micro changes with group members internally (like Morgana), so he definitely had depth. Hell, the contrast between the first palace escape and the 7th palace escape and how he treats himself and his injury is indicative of his growth.

Junpei, is pretty next level though. Starts off happy go lucky, then goes to jealousy, then to buddy buddy, then to being in love, then to knowing loss, then to contemplating his own death basically just after having lost another. He's a very different character by the end of P3. Like, honestly, Yosuke really did feel like they used Junpei as a template and then didn't include all the character depth and just made him worse.

at least thats my opinion on the matter.
