For those who don't know, he means the Greek letter "chi"

Greece, which is also located in Europe. Europe double-confirmed?

I'll rank the starters for fun, too:

Treecko > Turtwig > Bulbasaur > Snivy > Chespin > Chikorita

Charmander > Fennekin > Torchic > Cyndaquil > Tepig > Chimchar

Froakie > Totodile > Squirtle > Mudkip > Oshawott > Piplup

Grass:
Snivy > Treecko > Chespin > Bulbasaur > Turtwig > Chikorita

Fire:
Fennekin > Charmander > Torchic > Cyndaquil > Tepig > Chimchar

Water:
Mudkip > Totodile > Froakie > Oshawott > Piplup > Squirtle

I think they're actually very good.

Okay, if the first gives 6 points, the second 5 points etc. then:

Gen I: 9 points
Gen II: 9 points
Gen III: 15 points
Gen IV: 5 points
Gen V: 11 points (thanks to Snivy)
Gen VI: 14 points

So it's really good. III>VI>V>I=II>>IV

Grass:
Turtwig > Chespin > Bulbasaur > Snivy > Treecko > Bayleef

Fire:
Tepig > Chimchar > Fennekin > Charmander > Torchic > Cyndaquil

Water:
Piplup > Mudkip > Froakie > Oshawatt > Squirtle > Totodile

I think I'm the only person in the world who really loves Gen IV starters. And I have no idea what people see in Gen II starters. It's my favorite gen, but worst starters.

Will QA for food.
If I had to chose one starter of each type I'd go with Tepig, Totodile, and Bulbasaur for stage 1 evolutions. Charizard, Empoleon, and Torterra for final evolutions. Middle evolutions not worth discussing unless you're making a worst of list.

Reserving final judgement on these new ones until I actually play the games and have more exposure to them. There's always a lot of positive and negative reactions to starters when they're shown and it usually changes. I don't hate any of these new guys, but Froakie looks like my guy right now.

Grass:
Turtwig > Chespin > Bulbasaur > Snivy > Treecko > Bayleef

Fire:
Tepig > Chimchar > Fennekin > Charmander > Torchic > Cyndaquil

Water:
Piplup > Mudkip > Froakie > Oshawatt > Squirtle > Totodile

I like Gen IV quite a bit in terms of starters. Only Infernape and reeeeallly shitty middle evolutions hold it back. Generation II is saved by awesome Cyndaquil, Totodile and the beast that is Meganium. But it's quite a plain looking line of evolutions.

You know, I'm thinking Froakie could be a psychic too due to its pose in the first artwork.

It's touching its head in a way that could indicate it has psychic powers.

That's a Dark looking frog. Definitely thinking up a Nasty Plot in that image.

LiQuid!

I proudly and openly admit to wishing death upon the mothers of people I don't like
the new frog does literally look like a neopet, im pretty sure theres a neopet similar

edit: okay actually no, neopets are worse than i remember them

Ugh. Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Fennekin or Chespin but the "looks like neopets" crowd can go piss up a rope.

Not sure if posted here, but saw this on 4chan:

This is a wyvern (Y-vern):

European region confirmed?

This is a chital:

Binomial name "Axis axis". Perhaps a reference to an X-Y axis?

This and Chi = X is brilliant.

Holy horrific fuck at the neopet. Get it off this topic.

EDIT: I'd love the design of that chital if it didn't have rainbow antlers. Leaning towards getting Y at the minute because its cry in the trailer sounded cool.

Holy low res jaggies!

This the best looking Pokemon a 3DS can do? Did I miss something, will this be backward compatible with the old DS ?

The graphics look almost exactly like Dragon Quest IX for the DS.

Hopefully they'll improve before release.

Charmander > Torchic > Fennekin > Tepig > Chimchar > Cyndaquil

Gen 3 is my fave for starters. Gen 2 is unequivocally my least favourite.

Also, the name for Y in many European languages literally translates into "Greek I"

Perhaps it will be Paris + Mediterranean coast?

If it's Europe and not only France... Oh god awesomeness! An island like Engalnd, a huge city like Paris, a Parthenon for Pokemon, a Coliseum for Battle frontier and a north winterland like the Scandinavian countries!

That chipmunk's orange tail is really bugging me since somebody pointed it out. Definitely my least favorite of the three.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I've heard the video is on the European 3DS eShop. Can someone confirm this?

A bit late with all of this as I was doing overtime at work and without an internet connection. So happy those rumours and stuff turned out to be fake. I LOVE the graphics on the Pokémon as that's pretty much exactly what I wanted, but people look weird as do some environments. Everything is still on a grid yes? I think that's why some things look a little jarring, particular player movement and certain aspects of the environment as everything is too boxy. I do understand that a lot of gameplay elements are based on the grid design though.

However I'm really excited and I love the names too. I never expected in a million years something like X and Y. It sounds cool and unique. Starter Pokémon look pretty different too but I like them, and the legendaries look really good too. The male player character looks too much like the ones we got in the BW series, but maybe there is customisation?

EDIT: Yeah, a DQIX vibe is what I got too. I was expecting much more natural graphics, however I'm still happy and excited. Bring on October!

Snivy > Bulbasaur > Treecko > Turtwig > Chespin > Chikorita

Cyndaquil > Fennekin > Charmander > Torchic > Tepig > Chimchar

Squirtle > Piplup > Oshawott > Froakie > Mudkip > Totodile

Gen 2 has my least favorites in Grass and Water, but my favorite Fire out of all six gens, so I guess it evens out.
