Yeah I think this has gotta be Gen 7. I mean the last games we had were remakes. We are due for a new generation
10 AM EST. 5 minute presentation.
B2/W2 already broke that formula.
So what's the general consensus?
So far I'm guessing that Sun/Moon are XY followups with a lot of new content, possibly even new areas/towns, but hardly any new Pokemon except megas and formes. On the 3DS, it's probably technically possible for them to do something peculiar with Megarna's introduction. It would be unprecedented but so were Platinum's new formes (Shaymin, Rotom, etc). But I'm leaning towards Magearna being a teaser for Gen VII who won't be catchable in Sun/Moon although I'd be fine with being surprised.
Well, Emerald came out after Fire Red and Leaf Green. Anything is possible.Yeah I think this has gotta be Gen 7. I mean the last games we had were remakes. We are due for a new generation

I'm expecting the same. Volcanion from the event will be the key to unlocking Magearna at gen 7 launch.

This isn't X2/Y2. For the past 2 generations they have revealed a new Pokémon the same year a new generation is revealed. Some Pokemon generations only last 3 years. Also the anime never jumps ahead of releases and they are already half a year into their Z season. It also makes little sense to give them a title that has no relation to X/Y. Now what I think is plausible is that they could do a Kanto/Johto situation where the regions are connected and you can travel between the two. Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon kinda invoke Gen 2's colors and cover legendaries. Every other gen except Gen 2 has had a red/blue version incorporated into the cover legendaries. So what's the general consensus?

Official and correct rankings:
1. HG/SS
2. D/P/Pt
3. B/W/B2/W2
4. FR/LG
5. R/B/Y
6. G/S/C
7. R/S/E
8. X/Y
9. OR/AS
Please be new generation! No Z please.
1. X/Y
8. HG/SS
Holy shit this is literally my ranking as well! BW are my least favorite games, but BW2 made me like Unova a hell of a lot more. Hoenn and Sinnoh are the best regions and Emerald and Platinum are my favorite games overall.Official and correct rankings:
1. R/S/E
2. D/P/P
3. R/B/Y
4. X/Y
5. B/W
6. G/S/C
Naming like that seems more new Gen than a "Z" like game.
I want the opposite because I don't want to be stuck with 3DS games for another 3 years or so.
Z would mean the next games in 12-18 months can be gen 7 on NX.
This is one of those cases where a name really is everything. With the anime they added a stylized Z to the name to let you know this arc is all about Zygarde. Zygarde forms were revealed specifically for the anime.
What the hell does Sun and Moon convey that is in any way relevant to anything currently known, datamines included, in generation 6?
I'm genuinely curious, if someone has ideas I'm all ears, err, eyes.
Zygarde Core does regenerate by the sun though
Sundials and moon dials in Gen 6 are important for Mega Evolution and the sundial is right in front of Zygarde on the movie poster, separating the solar-powered gems on his chest that are in the colors of the Sun and Moon logos. This is one of those cases where a name really is everything. You can't be more wrong dude.

That's it!
It kind of makes sense though, as much as I hate to admit it. It's in XY a lot but it's pretty vague, and I think it's sort of brought up in ORAS too. The moondial is just teased. Sun/Moon being a sequel/return to Kalos could expand on those features a lot more in relation to Zygarde.Interesting, but the Sundial thing was only true for XY (and arguably made it a chore).
Feels odd to have two games all about those conceptually.
Ok, HG/SS which was a true remake, improving all the issues of G/S/C, adding the Pokeathlon (the only extra activity that makes sense and don't shit stuff like contest, musicals & co), adding the Pokemons behind you and the Pokewalker are now worst games than FR/LG (who only adds the new islands, great game tough) and specially OR/AS wich was a letdown and is far inferior to Emerald. Ok.
Nice try dude.
I'm just curious what sort of mascots we're getting.

I feel that if we do get new mons for some reason then it'll be at least several dozen because blowing up compatibility just for 10 - 20 like some people have speculated doesn't seem worth it.That pretty much sums up my full bet. X and Y sequels, but much more ambitious than B2/W2. New region of Kalos in the south.
I'm also making the side bet that Zygarde Core will be a secondary starter, like Pikachu in Yellow.
Sun = mecha Zygarde from the movie that's powered by the sun
Moon = new Zygarde form powered by the moon
Well, it wouldn't really be "perfect" in that case if there's two forms.

Isn't the final form the 'Complete Form'? It still might be silly to get 2 different complete forms, but a bit less so than perfect.

Japanese name is "Perfect Forme" iirc.
With the gemstones in the chest, a second seems redundant if anything.
I'm banking on two parallels to Xerneas and Yveltal for this new region.

Instead of two versions of the complete form, they might give you a different core to start with.
