PS+ version of Driveclub will have 5 tracks (1 country) and 10 cars.

I never understood this, it isn't free. You are paying monthly for Playstation Plus.
This game isn't the service? I really don't know how to sensibly respond to this. Something about it doesn't seem right.

E: What about, you weren't promised any amount of content? It was never the full game on PS+, we knew that from the beginning. This is a large slice of content from a game you would normally have to pay for, period.

You are paying to use online multiplayer and get some free games to rent and exclusives.

I don't see how people complain. Sony have not done anything wrong.

People are just being cheap.

i remember playing demo discs of games back in the day over and over cuz it was free. This seems like so much more than that.

5 tracks for 11 variants, 10 cars. Not bad for something free with +

I feel cheated... This is the "free game" you hyped up for launch? That you delayed for a year?

I expected the full game with microotrasactions to buy cars you want/unlock tracks. Tracks and cars are fully unlocked for $60.

You feel cheated that the free version of Driveclub doesn't have more content.

How does receiving an online game with ten cars and five tracks for free possibly constitute as "cheating" you?

Are the modes in tact? I care about that more

"The PS Plus Edition will still be out, along with the Blu-Ray and digital edition and what it’ll offer is a cut-down version of the content," he explains. "So you won’t get all the cars, you won’t get all the tracks, but you still get all the key features: you’ll be able to play online, multiplayer races, you’ll be able to join a club, create connections, attend challenges and even play through part of the single-player game and unlock Trophies as well."

Don't see why people are begging for more. It's good enough to give you a taste of the game (Actually more than enough tbh.)

How do you expect them to make sales off the game if they just throw most of the game at you for free.

Majority of gaming side has convinced themselves that Sony does this for the good of the fans. If they could, all their games would be free. It's those lousy retailers that make Sony put a price on their products

5 tracks is not good enough.

That amounts to little more than a demo. Not a free stripped down version of the game for PS+ members.

Eh? This is exactly what it is. The full game with every feature available but stripped down on content. How many other demos offer that?

I'm loving the amount of entitlement, here.

Get the fuck outta here. It was mentioned several times that the PS+ version would include a vast portion of the game's content, sans a few tracks and cars, plus, allow you to earn a platinum trophy. Either Sony has gone back on that promise or the full game is severely lacking in content

But please, shut the hell up and have a seat with this bullshit. People who use it nowadays barely know what the fuck it means.

Hahaha damn... Sad thing is you're not wrong. Forza 5, a full $60 game, only has... 13 tracks? Only 2.5 more content than this free version. Guess when you put it like that it doesn't feel as ba d

:(

It just does make you feel a little slanted. I thought we'd get more content as an apology for delaying the game.

If it makes you feel better - I've got the full version preordered for 20€ ;-)

Yeah all modes are included. So you can play unlimited online and offline but you are limited to 10 cars and 1 country. Its a fairly good deal especially if they give a good discount for upgrading. I am guessing the physical game will come with extra stuff since it would make more since to get the free and upgrade.

Agreed. If they did anymore content, they may as well not sell the game, because there would be less and less of a reason to buy it and y'know... keep the studio from closing down.

Entitlement = the fact of having a right to something

Most people are getting upset because they feel they have a right to the PS+ version of the game, a version of the game they feel should be more detailed than it appears to be. I don't see what's wrong with using that word.

Well you're finally on my ignore list, so at least this thread did something right!

Never happen.

People calling it a demo haven't played a demo in years, I think.

Last demos I played were from Atlus and were literally the first 2-4 hours of the game. Not every demo is a 15 minute teaser.

The way Sony hyped this game up last year, they made it sound like PS+ users essentially got the base game and if you paid money, you got the season pass & some extra DLC on top.

Would you be this upset if a friend/partner gave you less of a gift for your birthday than what they had promised originally?

Back when they were using this to sell us on putting the online play behind a paywall for PS4, it sure sounded a little different.

10 cars sounds nice. This isn't some indie game. Big money was put into this. They have to sell you something. Plus, there's to be free DLC. There's good value here. That's a good PS+ month in my book.

That's an odd one. They said you'd be able to platinum the game with just the + version, that makes it sound otherwise.
Source about this Platinum stuff? If we have a source we can throw it back in their face.

Comparing some JRPG to a racing game is highly suspect. Racing through every single track in the biggest Gran Turismo game once will not take longer than 2 hours.

This was their way of making "Mandatory Playstation Plus" an easy pill to swallow. Oh yeah... You have to pay $50 a year to play Online on the Playstation 4... But you get fee games! Good free games! Like Drive Club, a $60 game is free. You get a "slightly" scaled back version! You also get Resogun and other games free each month!

5 tracks, and 10 cars out of the hundreds isn't "slightly". They should have never announced this as a "free" game if they planned on it being a demo from the beginning.

Depends how you see PS+. If you're mainly a member because of the games then yeah it's not really free. If you're mainly a member to play online or because of the other features, and the IGC is a nice bonus then it's effectively free for you.

How does this compare to demos for racing games? If it's not any more than an average one, then calling it a demo makes sense. Otherwise, it seems like not being the entire game = demo to some people.

If that's been mentioned several times, you should be able to provide several sources. Can you list some please? Serious request. I just never read that claim before, so I'd really like to know.

Sounds good to me. I was planning on buying anyway.

I hope they use a piecemeal payment method - where buying $60 worth of individual cars and tracks will eventually total out to the content you'd get buying it fully. Gives a lot of freedom in how you want to pay for it and what you find valuable.

I expected something like this.

No they didn't. They promised undefined amount of free content and nothing more.

The amount of complete insanity in all these threads is mindblowing.

"Promise" has become a new goalpost for preaching a debacle based on foundations made in early stages of development.

Thanks.

" - You can earn the platinum trophy in the PS+ Edition, remember its the full game minus a few cars/tracks."

That sentence is spun so hard I thought I was reading MS PR from E3 2013. You can't be simultaneously a huge game and then say 5 tracks (11 variants) and 10 cars are only "a few cars/track" less than the full game.

It wasn't really early in development when these things were said. It was 2 months before the original launch.

The defense they have is that anyone that is interested about the game will still be able to get a pretty good taste of what the game has to offer without paying anything extra.

What would you consider a free, stripped down version of the game? This seems to be exactly what a free, stripped down version of a game would be.

Not little more than a demo.

I would consider three tracks a good demo. Hence my usage of ''little more than''.
I expected much more of the game. This is after all, going to be a months PS4 game we have paid for.

Should also consider that Rushy said that they will be giving away some free DLCs in the future, including cars/tracks. Would be interesting to see if it's also free for the PS+ version or not.

Another quote from last year:

Can you describe the PS Plus version for us?

Yes, the PS Plus version will be the exact same as the full version, except that it may be missing a few assets such as cars or tracks, that will be found in the full version. However the online multiplayer, the asynchronous challenges and the single player campaign will all be present in the PS Plus version. The PS Plus version gives us to the biggest open community, day one. This game is all about socialising.
