PS4 Firmware 2.50 (Yukimura) coming March 26

I also would like to know when it releases because as already said Japan is pretty much ahead regarding the time zone stuff. Has Sony Japan announced a time ?

No, just the date. It may or may not be available today for other regions.

The US blog is asleep right now so we won't know until later.

There's no changelog that I can see, just the same information that's been posted by the various blogs out there in the past few weeks.

I suspect we'll see some stealth additions made that people will have to dig for. Or maybe the US/EU blogs will post a real log later today.

Yeah, we have to wait and grab the full changelog during the installation, but even still there's usually some minor tweaks not listed in that that people need to dig for.

Very nice, now if there was also way to shut the yellow light off the PS4 when it sits in stand-by, my life would be so much better.

I just hope that it will be bug-free, so I can enjoy Bloodborne without any issues *fingers crossed*

Oh, and it would be awesome if Spotify app didn't check your location every time you start it, since I'd really like to use it after activating it via VPN on my PC. But I somehow doubt that will be the case :(

Perfect timing ahead of Bloodborne this Friday. Suspend/resume will make playing a lot more enjoyable. Almost like having a "save anywhere" option before going to work/sleep.

What exactly does "remote play 60 FPS" mean? I thought the Vita was locked at 30fps.

PlayStation 4 v2.50 update

Features coming to PS4 with “Yukimura” include:
  • Suspend/Resume: Supported by nearly all of your PS4 games, you can jump in and out of your games with just the press of the PS button. Quickly switch from Rest Mode to powered-up so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Back-up and restore HDD to USB: Back-up and restore your hard disc drive data associated with users on your PS4, including settings, saved data, screenshots and video clips as well as games, patches and download data, to and from an external USB drive.
  • Find and connect with friends: “Yukimura” adds to an already robust set of social tools, bringing several updates to continue making PS4 the best place to play with your friends, including:
  • Facebook friend finder – Using your linked account, you can expand your network by searching and connecting with your Facebook friends.
  • Improved friend requests – Friend requests and Real Name requests can be sent together in one step when adding a friend on PS4.
  • Streamlined Party process – The process to create a Party has been streamlined with a reduction in the number of steps required.
  • Find friends who play your games – Easily view what friends are playing on each game detail page with a real-time “Friends Who Play This” section, which also highlights which friends are currently online and playing it, and allows you to jump directly into the game.
  • Join Friends directly from news feed – A new tile will be added on your What’s New feed where you can see what your friends are currently playing, enabling you to join in the game if you own it.
  • Share earned trophies and optimise your trophy list: We know that Trophies are important to many gamers, so we’re bringing more control with how you show them off:
  • Automatic Trophy screenshots – A screenshot will automatically be captured when a Trophy is earned, preserving the moment to share with friends.

  • Additional Trophy sorting options – Sort your Trophy list by Earned Date, Not Earned and Grade.
  • Delete 0% Trophies – Remove games from your Trophy list that have zero percent completion.

PlayStation Vita and PlayStation App for smartphones and tablets will also receive system software updates tonight, adding complementary features to those added to PS4. PS Vita update version 3.50 and PlayStation App update version 2.50 will add new accessibility options, including enlarged text, increased contrast and more. This update also enables PS Vita to support 60fps streaming for Remote Play.
Nice!

Woo! Not like it bothered me too much, but definitely another nice feature to have!

It is great to see the custom input changes! That must be pretty big for some people with disabilities and I know it is something that has been requested for many years for consoles. Hopefully in the future they will be able to provide profiles that you could quickly toggle between making it even easier for people to switch settings for certain game types.

One thing that's cool about the screenshot thing is that when you look at your trophy list, you'll see the screenshot in your list. The bad thing is story trophies that snap during a black screen. So many of those lol.

I'm so used to having "comes out tomorrow, comes out next week" that I thought March 26th was far, far away!.. Of course it's wrong to have relative time indicators on a static thread title, and the correct thing is to have the date.

I hope QA have done a good job. So many useful features.. hopefully no serious bugs in it.

They actually held a beta this time around and people circumvented that and installed the firmware update and have been using it awhile.

While it's not going to necessarily catch everything, I think most major issues would have been snagged.

Does 30 seconds more really make that much of a difference on whether or not you play a system?

By that logic you probably can't stand Bloodborne load screens..

I welcome the features but it in no way (for me) determines what system I turn on when I get home

I'd say that for me sometimes I'm very fickle and I maybe fancy the thought of playing GTAV but I wanna to play it now... not in the 3 minutes or so it would take to boot up my PS4, boot up the game and wait for the long initial load... If I could play GTAV, suspend the system and come right back to where I was a few hours later and literally start it up straight away, then yeah that makes a difference to me, makes me far more likely to keep playing a game I've already started, and will be perfect for Bloodborne too!

Damn, hoped maybe Spotify would be in this update!

Still cool though.

That probably doesn't need to be part of an update, they could just launch the app whenever it's ready. I'd say it will just replace their music app at some point.
